Final Fantasy Tactics is available for the PS3, PSP and the Vita platforms. However, owning a homebrewed PSP gives you access to that game (and all other PSP titles) for free. The Vita is very locked down compared to the PSP at the present time. This may change in time, but in my opinion, the PSP is still the way to go for absolute freedom and perks.

If you still want it used I recommend Amazon. They have the best consumer protection - they will truly bend over backwards for you if you get a used lemon.

Brand new PSP-3000 without any games is $100, so not bad.

While there really aren't any new games coming out for it, there are plenty of exclusives and depending on the types of games your son likes, a cool system to explore.

One of the best things about being new to PSP this late in the life cycle (near the end) is that games are fairly cheap. I managed to get a lot of brand new games for roughly $5 - $15 off amazon.com with free shipping. So while it's certainly not on the cutting edge of gaming, it's a good time to pick it up and experience on the cheap.

Yeah, I agree. Anecdotally I don't remember ever seeing any of those on the NA market, but I can't find anything concrete saying they weren't offered.

I think it'll probably be hard to find positive confirmation of something NOT being available, but you could certainly amass a lot of circumstantial evidence.

I bought the big boss psp off of ebay pretty much to play acid and acid 2. I haven't tried acid 2 yet but the gameplay of acid is a lot of fun. I think the lack of a canon storyline leaves me a bit uninterested in the plot so the talking between missions seems to drag on sometimes but the actual gameplay is fun. I like the references to past mg games through the cards. It would be awesome if they made another game like it.

Y'know, I keep saying the PSP even though it makes me sound like a 12 year old, but I think the bows I've added are pretty damn cool too. ;)

Feel free to ask for whatever you want, but you can buy a brand new psp 3000 with Ratchet and Clank game for $160.
