They're the first stands I've ever had but I like them, seen very stable and sturdy.
You pretty much have three options. Put the speakers on the floor (probably don’t do this), get a tripod style speaker stand or go with a pole that mounts in your sub.
I personally prefer the poles that mount inside the subs because they take up less space overall.
You should look for speakers with high sensitivity. The bigger the speaker, the less power you need to get loud. These would work pretty well, and you can add a sub later, or get one from goodwill.

Here are some other products/routes to consider
I ended up getting two Odyssey LTP6 light stands with 4-bolt T-Bar.
In addition, purchased two Pedco Ultra Clamp Assemblies which I them clamped onto the end of the T-Bar.
The light stands will extend to about 9' high and I opted to go for the T-Bar because mounting the lighthouse on the end of the bar allowed it to extend out to the edge of where the legs of the stand extended. This basically made the area viewed by the lighthouses more "cubic".
So far, I've not had any issues with tracking, they can be put at a fairly good distance away from one another and make sure your play area leaves a small buffer to try and keep people from getting too close to them. Bumping into them, of course, will cause them to wobble, but on a nice flat surface, have had no problems with even the lighthouses internal mechanism vibrating or anything. Everything clamped down nice and tightly.

I use these for my desktop, but they take up quite a bit of space.
If you can afford it, these are also pretty great.

I just bought these bad boys and they are AMAZING in my small home theater. 5 of the 215s and 1 subwoofer cost me ~$1,280.
I run them on my Denon S920W AVR and they sound amazing!

Here is a thread over on AVSForums where several folks have gone this route and been very happy.
Sure, they aren't visually appealing to some people, but the sound is truly stellar and in my dark home theater they completely disappear. Plus, you can always hide them in a baffle wall or build an easy frame with acoustic cloth to cover them up.
PSA: If you live in an apartment, don't do this. Get some awesome headphones instead. :-)

The stands were free when I bought the JBL LSR 305s but I think they're these.
The controller is an Akai MPD218. It's my first proper MPD controller and I honestly love it. I'd only used the shitty ones that come with midi keyboards and had no idea they actually made ones aren't terrible.

The full Index bundle comes with some kind of mount/stand, but I don't know much about them. My Index kit was the $749 bundle, so I just reused my existing Vive Lighthouse 1.0 units.
Those are attached to some DJ stands I picked up years ago.
Honestly any wall mount for cameras or such should work, even a Rift Sensor mount. The Rift Sensors and Lighthouse Basestations all use standard mounting standard 1/4" threads. So pretty much standard camera equipment mounts work. (Including lighting stands, if you don't want to drill into your walls.)

I'm trying to get DJ equipment to start my dream of being a DJ. It's kinda already started because through lots of legwork and thrift-store shopping I managed to get some barely-passable home audio stuff, but it can't take the strain of DJing and can't be used for anything larger than ~40 people. I've had to turn down gigs because of it and judging by how frickin' hot it gets after I play for a few hours, it's going to be dead soon.

Not going for a sob story here, but rather explanation of why I don't have money to spend on this stuff - I've got no family and I've got Lyme's Disease which I wasn't allowed to treat back when I had a family (strictly against modern medicine) and now can't treat because of an error made on my government-provided health insurance that's so far been going on for 8 months and is yet to be fixed. Lyme destroys your joints, so standing and walking for a retail job (not yet out of college) is extremely painful for days afterwards. Once I get treatment I'm going to put my nose to the grindstone and get two jobs to finance it, but still, anything helps. If you go through my post history you'll see mention of a few Christmas gifts, specifically a set of headphones, and those are from friends. I really really really appreciate them because they put a lot of thought into them and read reviews and all, but I wound up not being able to use them, but instead returned them and spent the money on a professional set of headphones, which is why there are no headphones on that list of links.
