I would say you could probably find a better deal on Amazon for one that's rated for a higher weight and then not have to worry about it.

I’m not familiar with that, but I have (and like) the CAP Mega Hex Bar:

https://www.amazon.com/Barbell-Weight-2-Inch-Plated-Olympic/dp/B076MKQF1P

The price fluctuates pretty widely, I got it for around $120. It’s currently at the high end of the range. If you’re not in a hurry, use CamelCamelCamel to monitor it and you’ll probably be able to get it for a good bit less sometime soon.

Edit: Ooops, didn’t read all the way to the end of your post. Yeah, get the CAP Mega...

I don't trust anything that doesn't have center knurling.

This doesn't, shipping weight 19.25 pounds

This does, shipping weight 45 pounds.

My gym has both and I've picked them up one after another and couldn't really tell, but I'm so paranoid about it I just switch out for one with the knurling in the middle.

edit: Another example of a 7-foot PR buster. 32 pounds.

Try oiling the sleeves and see if that does anything.

As for the bar...

  1. I've used one of those cheap bars with the bolt at the end. Not good. Especially when you have re tighten them from time to time and hope the sleeve doesn't fall off.

  2. Waste of money if you're gonna dare to Sn or CJ with it. Passable to do strength lifts on.

  3. No, don't buy it.

This seems to be the best option I could find on Amazon. I've never heard of them, who knows about the quality control and how long it will last but reviews seem ok. Only about 30$ more than your prior selection.

We used to use CAP barbells as our general purpose barbells. No idea what model but it wasn't uncommon for them to get bent over time or spin poorly.

probably the next step up but you could just pony up another 50$ and get something from Fringesport with excellent customer service and a return policy. They bought out AgainFaster a few years ago which was pretty popular in the CF community.

Never heard of XMark. They have plenty of reviews though.

They are on Amazon here in the US and seem to have good reviews. Ex. https://www.amazon.com/iheartsynergee-Phosphate-Weightlifting-Powerlifting-Crossfit/dp/B07BDPQ934?ref=ast_p_ep

I'm fairly certain they are a chinese bar but whatever...I oWN quite a few chicom bars and they have all been fine.

I'd say buy with confidence and give us a review.

About 500lbs of random plates I got cheap. Most of it was bought used but in good condition. Took me a while because I was really patient so I’d find what I wanted.

I’m pretty happy with all of it. I was most concerned with saving space and getting stuff that had high enough weight capacities. I’m not lifting really heavy weights, so it’s all good for me but might not work for everyone.

I’m considering getting a stand or some matts, or maybe a few kettlebells.

Buy a better bar.

Amazon reviews for the bar you listed:
http://www.amazon.com/Apex-TRB-70-7-Foot-Bar/dp/B000J3JDNS

Or, if you need a cheapo bar, go to Craigslist. You can get bars like this used for $20, if you wait and search a bit

hex bar is good for neutral grip but this multi angle bar thing my gym has is great for heavy rows

Anybody ever used a Trap bar to fix their conventional pull form??? My conventional pull is abysmal after a back injury. I was able to to switch to sumo and although I'm still weak Im lifting without pain. I still want conventional pulls in my programming now and then so I was thinking of buying this trap bar and using it in place of conventional pulls. My thought is that it will help me re learn the form and mobility needed for a pain free conventional pull, thoughts?

Here is a fair priced economy bar with a 700lb limit

u/fondshiver · 2 pointsr/homegym

This is the trap bar: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079LGVS7X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I would have loved a rackable one but I felt like I was getting sucked in to doing exercises I was unlikely to do!

All of those are mounted with 100lb ez drywall anchors too.

> Its very difficult to find.

Look I found one in 20 seconds.

Looking to buy a Safety Squat Bar. To keep it fairly short I'm looking at either

https://www.elitefts.com/elitefts-ss-yoke-bar.html or https://www.amazon.com/Titan-Safety-Squat-Olympic-Bar/dp/B07K355J8W/

I know I'd be happy with Elite FTS bar, but realistically I'm not putting more than 400 lbs on either of these bars anytime soon. I've never used a $400+ bar so in my head I'm having a hard time seeing where the $ difference comes into play. As a regular Joe lifter that isn't pushing 800 lb squats should I just stick with the Titan?

I'm definitely open to other suggestions as well, but the closer it gets to that $400 mark the more I'm likely to just buy the Elite FTS and be done with it.

HulkFit Olympic 2-Inch Hex Weight Lifting Trap Bar, 1000-Pound Capacity Black, Open-back $229.99

Has anyone owned or used this bar before? I'm looking for reviews before I make a decision.

There's no real specific brand name. Just known as a chest bender spring exerciser, spring bar, flex bar, or some combination of those words.

Not to be dense but did you use a true squat sponge/bar pad or use it properly? I know you said you used a pad but I'm a bit baffled and I have seen quite a bit in my time. I would do reps/sets at 405lb+ and although I had sore hips, they never actually bruised. Now that may be unremarkable for some but I am very pale and bruise easily. Im also a smaller stature guy without an enormous bone structure/frame so it's not like I'm some tank. I'm blown away that someone could be bruised after a 65lb barbell. I understand it being uncomfortable for newbies, that's normal. Bruising while using a pad is not what I have found normal.

Just first verify you have a legit pad like
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FDFML23/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_zQTOCbWEW99EK

Then verify that you're the bar right across the AISI
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anterior_superior_iliac_spine

If you are still having an issue, give it 2-4 weeks to see if your body acclimate and then reassess.
