I have a bad back and it helps a lot that I don't have to bend all the time :)

we got one of these for our flight to Seattle a few years back"

We ended up not using it, as we brought our car seat to the gate and asked if there were any empty seats we could use for the car seat. They made us wait untill everyone else got boarded and moved a guy who was by himself and gave us three seats together (we only paid for two) for us and the car seat. I was glad we had it as we hit some really bad turbulence during landing.

ifAmazon wish list and give both grandparents a link to it. This prevents them from buying the same things and generally will make life easier for holidays in the future too. You can also edit it if you think of something later or buy something that was on the list yourself. It's also okay to include practical stuff. My daughter got her first non-infant car seat for her first birthday.

I just realized you have twins. In that case, put both big kid car seats on there if needed (and a double stroller with seats if you're using a snap 'n go currently), and two of these (http://smile.amazon.com/Leachco-Strap-Plush-Anywhere-Safety/dp/B004HIX2CE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1409582277&sr=8-1&keywords=leachco+belt) for when you need to put one in the rear of the shopping cart or the high chairs at the restarant don't have working belts. Baby gates and all the things you might need to baby proof for mobile babies are also a good idea because you may well have crawlers by then. By then you may also need sippy cups (with leashes) and snack containers, too.

Don't worry about the cute stuff, unless there's something in particular you want them to have and aren't planning to buy yourself. People will buy the fun and cute stuff anyways. And even, sometimes, the not so cute stuff, because baby gates make people think of those adorable first steps and sippy cups make people think of the fun of watching a kid learn to enjoy non-milk food. The practical stuff doesn't always have to be boring.
