Just wanted to let you know that my husband got a hidden pocket from amazon that is very similar. Loops on to your belt and tucks in to your pants, no need to sew.

Rearma en segundos con eBags, ej eBags Small/Medium Packing Cubes for Travel - Organizers - 4pc Set y Mossio 7 Set Packing Cubes with Shoe Bag - Compression Travel Luggage Organizer.

  • a la ida no despaches equipaje. Why?

This is perhaps the best investment for music festivals if you worry about your phone/money and/or don't want to carry a secure backpack.

You zip your phone into it, the wallet attaches to your belt and then you tuck it inside your pants. Granted, this means you have to wear pants/short with a belt, but small price to pay in my opinion. 4 big festivals down and never had an issue.

why not use this:

I have a similar one that I use when i travel. I carry it between my pants and underwear so it's not visible. it's only meant to pack an additional credit card, some money and the passport.
its a fannypack alright, but carrying it under the pants makes it more secure and less douchey at the same time :)

I had a similar concern when I was in Spain. In the end I decided against carrying a purse and opted for a money belt. Pros - no one could tell I was carrying stuff, so I felt safe even if we were in a crowded area. Cons - it's a little annoying to reach under your shirt to get something out.

I use a travel money belt to store things. You wear it under your clothes. I keep anything I don't need and don't want to accidentally fall out of my pockets or get stolen.

I've attended EDCMX for the past 3 years! :) Every year it gets bigger and better, it won't disappoint you! These are the tips I can give to you:
1.- Get to the city a couple days before, there's are a lot of stuff you can see and eat at CDMX! Haha
2.- Don't lose your tickets, they're hard copies! Only carry the one for the day.
3.- Buy a Traveler Safety Belt! I always store here my money, ID, Cellphone, tickets... It's hidden so pick pocketers aren't gonna be able to get your stuff.
4.- check the weather a couple days before because it could be cold or hot, we never know!
5.- Don't forget your camelbak. There's also free water here :)

For hidden wallets you have a few options out there these days.

There is the ever so classic belt wallets that have hidden pockets and slots:
http://www.amazon.com/Pacsafe-Luggage-Cashsafe-Belt-Wallet/dp/B004WN9XJ0

There are phone wallets which connect to your smart phone; however its pretty obvious that if you have your phone stolen, your wallet and money go with it.

Ive seen a lot of international travelers carry these on their necks, although I think theyre kind of lame looking:

There are these Hidden Pocket wallets that you can wear which are pretty much what yorue describing, but go on your belt instead of pinning to your pants
http://shop.eaglecreek.com/undercover-hidden-pocket/d/1130_c_312

There are wrist wallets:

http://www.amazon.com/Wrist-Wallet-Black-Lg-XLg/dp/B0002Y0TAU

Then finally there are shirts that have hidden pockets:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B006YIN1X0/hapheapup-20

Some people also opt for the shoe wallet but I think theyre a bad idea.

I can't think of anymore alternatives that are any good, but Id love to hear more interesting ideas go around

I used this for a month and a half in Thailand. I would clip it into the waist of the shorts I was wearing, with the wallet on the inside and clip on the outside. Easily held 10,000+ baht plus drivers license and credit card.

They're around, and they exist, but if you don't let your guard down you'll be fine. Don't wear a big backpack with your wallet in an easily-accesible pocket and spend five minutes concentrating on taking your pictures in a crowd. They work in teams with little kids as well, so be weary of kids. They are common at the major tourist attractions like Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, Louvre, and Arc de Triomphe. I can't recommend one of these enough. Put your passport, credit cards, cash, and anything else of extreme value (EurailPass, etc.) in it. You'll hardly notice it's there, and it's nearly impossible to be pick-pocketed so long as you keep it tucked away in your pants. Good to prevent maids at a hotel taking things, too.

tl;dr- don't be dumb. If you're in a crowd pay attention to your items, wear your backpack on the front in the Metro with your hand over it, and assume everyone around you is trying to pickpocket you. You'll be fine. It's not dangerous, there are just some scummy people around.

Travellers wallets work great for stuff like this

An example. I'm sure you'll fine one that works well with a badge and your particular phone if you poke around a bit. Also, they're useful when actually traveling :D

I have this one!

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DHFJIBW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It has clips to lock the zippers in place (anti-theft), it's "slash proof" (can't be cut with a knife easily), aaaand it comes with a little keychain flashlight inside, which is a nice plus. Also very affordable.

Edit: This one (from the same brand) is bigger and probably better suited to carry the stuff you want.

Neck pouch? http://www.amazon.com/Tapp-C-Travel-Neck-Pouch/dp/B005IUBUKQ

Western europe is pretty safe in general. I would just carry a day or two's worth of cash and use credit cards as much as possible. Don't forget to call ur credit card companies and tell them you're traveling abroad so they don't lock you out.

u/yourslice · 1 pointr/travel

Yes Rome has an equally bad reputation but, having been there as well, I don't think you'll have any problems as long as you are smart. Don't wear anything flashy. Leave your expensive jewelry at home.

Buy something like this and keep just enough cash for what you need for the day along with a credit card. Nobody is going to reach into your pants to steal from you!

Make a photocopy of your passport and carry that around with you. Leave your passport in your hotel's safe. Unless you are staying in a cheap hotel or a hostel in which case you need to be more careful about lockers and safes (again, likely nothing bad will happen either way).

If you are female get a small bag that you can wear on your shoulder and across the front of your body. Hold onto it when possible in tourist areas and on public transport. That is when you are most vulnerable to theft. When strangers approach you to talk on the street ignore them and walk away. Sure most people are good people, but this will protect you against scammers.

If you follow the above advice there is a 99.99999% chance nothing will happen. Even if something does happen to you it won't be violent, and following the above advice you won't lose anything too important anyway.

Honestly Europe is safer than most places on this planet. You should not miss out on these amazing cities because of stories of people getting robbed. Those who prepare usually aren't victims.

I've been looking for a wallet to protect my card now. I feel quite dubious about contactless payment. Glad to see companies creating sollutions. I might pick up one of these wallets - which doesn't help the oyster situation.

There are also travel wallets you can buy. They are like fanny packs but low profile so that you can slip it below your waist band and keep your money and documents there. I used one in Thailand and found it convenient and useful.
