I bought the non-hanging planters of the same type. They work really well.

I get to keep them in the bags! I got them from amazon, they're specifically made to grow potatoes, so there is a little flap to check on the roots and get them out! They make cheaper ones without the flap. The nice thing about them is that they're easily to fold up and put away when the growing season is over.

My whole garden is on my balcony, so I understand needing to make the most out of the space. My FAVORITE thing are these planters but they're pretty spendy. I also have a couple of these (if you're interested, wait until the price drops to $25, it happens all the time, only suckers pay $40) which I'm going to use for my flowers and tomatoes once they're big enough. If I had unlimited funds for my garden I would totally buy a vertical stacker and a mobile garden, plus like a million of these pots to go around my balcony!

This seems like it could do the trick, but a little pricy: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D6WL7JZ

The hangers are from Home Depot (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G5K7F6Q). They were on clearance because seasons. The leaves you see are begonias. The flower stem you see sprouting through those colorful leaves is from the lady slipper orchid below that (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cypripedioideae). I can’t wait for it to bloom!

How about something like this or this from Amazon Japan?

Herbs!!! How much money are you wanting to spend?? https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B017BSEY8W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_WCn3CbK91FCQD

These tower gardens are amazing because you could plant catgrass and catnip in the bottom for the pets, and plant stuff like herbs, strawberries etc in the tops. They take up very little space, and are so easy to care for and set up.

I want to put one of these on this wall

They are designed to screw into the wall/structure behind it.

The wall in the imagine is part of my neighbors house so i don’t want to/can’t do anything to alter the wall. However i have ~16” of planter space i can utilize for the project.

what methods can i use to secure the hanging planter in this space without necessarily securing it to the wall.

i’ve thought up cementing 2 posts into the ground in the planter area and then securing the planter to the posts with 2x4’s, etc.. but would prefer a method that will be quick and easy to take down when i move.

Most varieties of pothos will do well in this scenario and they like to either climb or grow vines downward which is really pretty. Or haworthia succulents could be good too if you want something a bit more compact, they tend to be more tolerant of medium lighting than some of the other succulent varieties. You can do pots on shelves or something like these: https://www.amazon.com/Planters-Ceramic-Hanging-Geometric-Container/dp/B07V7C91LN/ref=mp_s_a_1_22_sspa?keywords=Wall+planter&qid=1571586678&sr=8-22-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFYQ0lOQ0RESElUS1ImZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA0ODk5NjczVkc3OUpORUQ0UVpNJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAwNjM2MzUzUzQ3NFk3RFVBRVc4JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfcGhvbmVfc2VhcmNoX210ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= If you search for 'wall planter' on Amazon there are tons of different styles!

I have something like this but on its own stand so it doesn't require drilling that's full of different succulents.

I was recently given a set of these: https://www.amazon.com/Vertical-Gardening-Stackable-Mr-Stacky/dp/B00W42J0G2

I've wanted to get started gardening, but have no idea where to actually start. I live in Oklahoma, and I'd be planting on a north facing covered porch. I'd like to plant flowers to start with, I think. Any advice on where to start would be awesome. Either communities that can better answer questions, how to find plants that would grow well, how to fill the pots (maybe moss on bottom, soil on top? maybe it varies by plant? I have no clue) I'm sure yall get plenty of new people asking these exact types of questions, but with the unique nature of the pots I feel like there might be other factors for me to take into account.

So it looks like there's a 1" hole in the middle of each pot for a PVC pipe/water line, and then there are a series of smaller holes surrounding the main hole for drainage

You can see a good pic of it here

You can probably get something like this . I am planting all my extras there. They probably won’t do very well, but worth a try since they use little space and dirt . And they can serve as a backup in case nature decides to kill one of your main plants.
