Looks like Amazon has the same thing for 20 bucks.

It sounds like the projection bulb. If you haven't replaced it since purchase, that would be the top on the list of things to go bad. Amazon has an ok deal for a bulb.

Buy a used projector off ebay. When a business goes out, they have projectors that they need to get rid of. A projector lamp will run you normally around $2-300. So when people see used projectors on ebay they don't buy them in fear that they will need a new lamp soon. I have found that older models of projectors have replacement lamps available cheap. Basically you can snag one of these projectors for under $200 easily. Me and my friend both got 1080i projectors for under $120. The lamp in mine lasted about a year (I replaced it last week for $40)

Heres a link to the projector I got last year:

This projector still sells used off amazon for $850 but I got it for 120.

I would like to hear what people say about this as well.

I was looking at something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Velleman-VTLAMP2BNU-magnifying-Glass-dioptre/dp/B004S7TC96/ref=pd_ybh_10

But man, they are a bit pricey.

It's easy (for me) to test the ballast. Do you know the voltage or current? I know it's 120 watts.

Hitachi 42V715 rear projector TV lamp with housing - high quality replacement lamp - Price: $29.36 & FREE Shipping

The ballast will add $60 to that.

Looks like they are about $200 on amazon.

For the price I would put them money to a new unit. ProjectorCentral says that model is 400 lumen (so about as bright as a current Pico Projector). Resolution is just SVGA (technically it is 834x624, thats just odd) and it is so old they don't even list first/last ship dates.

they said they replaced it with this bulb in July 2015: https://www.amazon.com/Optoma-BL-FP230D-P-VIP-230W-Projector/dp/B002Q0WN48

This seems to have awful reviews and the potential to harm other components. Should I steer clear from it?

  • Speakers, 5.1, dts - £240
  • Projector, hd, 3d - £440
  • Silent Living Room Computer + Components ~ £200
  • White wall - free

So it costs £880 for a 100" screen with dts surround sounds. That was with no research and you could easily knock off £200 with a cheaper projector (you can get a hd projecter for about £250) and a cheaper speaker set (I paid £170 for mine). It works out cheaper than a large LCD screen and it takes up less space. Plus you can use your current PC and just get a longer cable. So you could do it for £450 which is as cheap as a new LCD.

Since making the switch from flat screen to projector, I've suggested it to anyone in the market for a TV..

Just a few suggestions/tips with my experience so far...

Black Non-Reflective Felt tape (if projecting onto a wall):
(I project right onto my wall so this frames the projected image nicely....)

http://www.amazon.com/Carls-Projector-Screen-Contrast-Boosting-60-Foot/dp/B00JF7IXXU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464009450&sr=8-1&keywords=projector+tape

Spare Bulb:
Replaced i think once since I'e had it..and under $30!)

http://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-RLC-061-Replacement-Lamp/dp/B0047T7JMC

Only known issues:

1. Projector would suddenly fade out (Fixed by replacing bulb)

2. Projector would suddenly fade out/overheat sometimes in summer when it was above 75 in my apartment (This drove me crazy for 2 months for such a simple fix!!....just go into Menu and turning on High Altitude Mode)

If you have any questions, feel free to pm me....enjoy!

>never sells items first party

I was referring to working third party (not Sony brand) batteries, hence why people should share what third party batteries are usable.

However, stating that you can just find first party on Amazon US is incorrect. 1, 2, 3. Other countries will vary due to less units being purchased in those countries/popularity of the psp in general.

i bought the dmd board a few weeks ago and the image came back, thanks for that. another question though, will this dlp be compatible with my tv?

I'm sorry I'm not much of an Amazoner. I'm looking a lamp for my HD23 and I found this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Optoma-Projector-Assembly-Original-Inside/dp/B00C74NF6S

It says Amazon's choice. Is that what you meant by "the one also sold by Amazon"?

As other people in this thread said I don't think it makes sense to get both a protector and a tv. Bulbs for a Epson 6050 cost like ~ $150. Adding a tv and 2.1 sound system is going to cost several times than amount. My guess is you would have to replace the tv long before you bought enough bulbs to cover it's cost. That being said it's your room and if you want it to have two screens don't let me tell you want to do 😊
