The Costco Eneloops typically include a charging unit which handles both AA and AAA batteries. Eneloops aren't generally good for high-energy tasks, but if you buy enough extra batteries, maybe it doesn't matter.

I have Eneloops, but I chose a PDP 2-wiimote charger.

Every charging solution requires you to remove the silicone cover from the wiimote to access the battery compartment. However, a charging kit gives you a different battery cover to use so you don't need to remove the batteries to charge them.

On the PDP charger, I can flip the bottom of the pad up and rap it around the top of the wiimote (sort of like pulling your shirt over your head) so the cover is only half-off. The wiimotes then charge fine in the base.

To recharge Pro controllers, I chose the Nyko Charge Base Pro which is extremely easy to use. You plug a magnetic piece into the Pro's USB port. That piece then clamps itself onto the charging base with no need to line up the USB port. Just leave the magnetic clip on while you play.

Ignore the negative Amazon reviews for the Nyko because they mostly pertain to people who bought Nyko controllers and found the Nyko charger only works with official Pro controllers. It's a valid gripe, but irrelevant if you have an official Pro controller.

I've personally have used third party docks in the past and one completely fried my USB C port on my switch effectively bricking the system. Nintendo repaired it for free (This was the first year of the Switch) and was told to only use officially licensed third party docks (One's with the Nintendo Seal). I haven't used any third party docks anymore but there are a ton of docks at local retail stores that have the seal under 20$. Doing a quick search on amazon there "select" option is;

one downside to buying a third party dock is the lack of another AC adapter, if you buy the 80$ Dock Made by Nintendo it comes with one and an HDMI Cable. This means you will have to take your AC Adapter when you go out which completely negates the reason for buying another dock.

Overall read Reviews and Check your local retailer they might have one sweet clearance items or cheap docks that are certified.

Target is well known for putting Official docks on Clearance.

10/10 would recommend for pro controller storage

The issue here is the volts. I was in this same situation recently. European plugs are 220v as opposed to our 110v. Look at the power brick of the WiiU system itself. If it says something like input 120v you would actually need to find a step-down transformer. If your power brick says 120v-240v you're good to go, and would only need a non-powered adapter for the plug itself.

Here's a link to one on Amazon

Useful if you travel a lot.

There are usb chargers on the market that do exactly this though.

I look at the specs, I see that they can match up. And in fact, there are products that do precisely what you and others in this thread say can not be. You can get usb cables with a gamepad plug in, plug it in to your wii u, and it will charge.

I use a usb cable because of the original power supply's tendency to break easily (2 of mine did)... It works absolutely fine, it just charges slower but that's not a problem for me. I haven't tried using a wall adapter with it, though, I just plug it into my computer.

Edit: this is the one I got.

Edit2: If anyone could figure out the power output of the original adapter VS one for an iPad etc. that'd be helpful, electrical stuff gives me a headache so I haven't bothered

A second post from me, a 5 port usb charging hub, $12usd.

That one is just the best selling one on Amazon, you can probably find one for cheaper. But it charges anything that normally charges off of usb; iPads, iPhones, android smartphones, PS Vitas, the Nintendo 3ds/xl and the WiiU gamepad if you can get the cables, etc. Who doesn't have a plethora of stuff that can charge off of usb these days anyways.

No one end is the port that will fit into the gamepad and the other is just USB. So it will fit into any usb port

so if I use that I can plug it into this

My thinking is that many cellphones use a 1500mh battery that's the same capacity as the gamepad and since cell phones can use a 2amp charge I though the game pad could also

If you decide to charge your Pro controller using the USB port on the Wii U, you can only charge the controller with the system on.

You can charge it through your PC's USB port, or you can get a separate wall charger. I'm thinking about this one as it's fairly inexpensive, looks good, and it's fairly convenient.

Fuck, I JUST left the house. It looks a lot like a Mini USB. Well, actually, it looks exactly like the GamePad charger cord, except black, short, and has USB on one side. Since I can't take a pic of mine, here's a link to an officially licensed one!

>I wish I was able to charge the gamepad using the system itself.

3rd party option or this

> hooking up a sensor bar and trying to use that on the plane is a bit.. untenable

Hold B while starting up the Wii U, you will go straight to Wii mode without needing to select anything using a wii mote, then the gamepad has a built in sensor bar (around the camera), so you can use motion controls with just the gamepad - no sensor bar required. You can also order a classic controller pro, wii classic controller, mayflash adapter with a gamecube controller, or a knock off - all of which plug directly in to a Wii mote, but let you play with a more standard control option.

>I can't wait for this (if it's still true)! I'd love playing Mario Kart 8 with my wife when we're without a TV.

Just get 2 other controllers and switch the gamepad to display the race instead of the race/map/horn/items etc. then it's just a tiny TV
