These with a some short curtains, maybe a matte silver?

Not that curtain rod, but this type. https://www.amazon.com/SASH-CURTAIN-ROD-DOOR-PANELS/dp/B003VF702M They're usually used on doors.

This was my solution from ages ago. Literally just an old closet rod, some shim wedges for angle, and a clamp. Conveniently I have a very tall shelf on my computer desk so this is hardly a universal solution. I later added a cheap curtain track that came with alligator clips. I strung elastic thread between the clips and the track. This makes adjustment between a sit down and stand up position much easier. And the elastic keeps the wire up while allowing quite a bit of play.

I'm planning on purchasing a mic/camera/light boom for when the Omni arrives.

I haven't seen blinds that were black out capable. There are too many gaps between slats for light to get in. I purchased an infrared curtain rod and black out curtains to do this job in my bedroom. Using my harmony remote and smartthings or Alexa I can open and close the blinds at time of day/night, by voice, or by clicking a physical button other than the infrared remote.

That is such a great costume! I will go with EL wire (the battery thingy can be hidden in the "gem") for the tubing, maybe wrap it around some celofan to make it glow in a more uniform way and add bulk to the "tube". The staff itself can be made out of a curtain rod (there are cheaper alternatives).
Just spray paint to match your color, wrap the wire around the staff and voila!

Now the tricky part... I suggest cutting and hot-gluing transparent tapper ware and covering it up with this. It may look weird at first but for the light up effect you can either wrap the EL wire in there or get a couple of these or similar items and just hot glue them; look for battery powered lights!!

Now the casing on the other hand is tricky.. I think you could cut up your tapperware in a way that you only cut the empty panels as in photo #2. Use those panels for the gem, and use the remaining plastic to paint it the same tone as the staff and drill a hole underneath it and hot glue it. The details themselves can be made with aluminum foil or the plastic itself, just remember to match your paint color!!

Is that a good rough guide? I am not a very good cosplayer but I have made an iron man arc reactor (mark I) for the avengers movie and a full bane costume (all from scratch) for TDKR. [I was not allowed in the movie unless I removed the mask, the release in my home country was a week later than U.S.)

Hope I was able to help and if you need more ideas let me know! I love LoL "J-J-J-Janna"!!!

What if I put these on the outside.

and white sheer curtains on the inside using a rod like this?

I have one of these, although strangely I think the price has gone up by over $100 since I bought mine. The main appeal was that it was extremely inexpensive and it was very simple to set up. It's not quiet, the controls are super basic and the IR is a bit limiting but it does the job.

edit: I'm not sure what I missed, but this seems like it's the same one but half the price, off amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/Beme-International-Center-Opening-Telescoping-Motorized/dp/B008XLK9U4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1551125530&sr=8-2&keywords=erod+center+open+motorized+drapery+rod

edit 2: Oh. Canada.

Looks like it might be for draperies - to hold a 2nd curtain rod maybe? The thumb screw secures the ring around the curtain rod that is attached to the wall, and then a second rod sits across the other. Similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Beme-International-Decopolitan-Telescoping-Drapery/dp/B00NLFCV2G/ref=sr_1_14?s=furniture&ie=UTF8&qid=1519335195&sr=1-14&keywords=double+curtain+rod

I have large sliding glass doors in my bedroom and living room. I get extra long drapes like these and add a third or fourth panel if the door is wider than two panels. So for the bedroom, for example, I only needed two panels. For the wider living room, I used three panels. The darker color options of those drapes do block light very well.

To hang them, I used the longer version of this Umbra drapery rod

u/remembersarah18 · 1 pointr/InteriorDesign

I would get very simple curtain rods (like [these](Umbra Cappa 1-1/4-Inch Drapery Rod for Window, 36 to 72-Inch, Nickel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FB6MG4Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_pboNxbTESM3WQ) maybe) with silver rings, and solid white curtain panels. Hang all the rods at the same distance away from the ceiling, which will be close, but it will draw the eyes upwards and make your room appear bigger with higher ceilings. Then, just get different lengths of curtains depending on where they're hung so they all end up touching the floor. In your living room you might need a longer panel than by the tv for example. If it isn't custom to the size you need, you can always pin it up a little on the bottom to make it fit.

simple curtain look
length of curtain help I like the kiss style, the puddle is too formal for my house :)

Best of luck!!

Edit: for the one by the soffet, you might also consider doing a blind rod, where it just attaches to the wall and doesn't show the rod. Like these cheap ones

Decopolitan. Sorry for the late response, I must have missed your reply. These were the cheapest with Amazon Prime that I could find.

Get a stout curtain rod, close to 1"
https://www.amazon.com/Decopolitan-8-Inch-Window-Treatment-144-Inch/dp/B00DB1HB70/ref=sr_1_79?s=furniture&ie=UTF8&qid=1481141583&sr=1-79&keywords=curtain+rod

Get curtains (I use 84" for sliding glass doors rather than the 96")
https://www.amazon.com/Curtainworks-Kendall-Grommet-Curtain-84-Inch/dp/B00IE03T0Q/ref=sr_1_6?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1481141634&sr=1-6&keywords=curtains

These beefier rods can span the length of a sliding glass door without needing the middle support if the end supports are anchored well enough. I have 5 sliding glass doors in my house and they're all configured this way.

I usually bend out a long drapery hook like these. Can easily clean it off by heating them up with a lighter and then just wiping it off.

Looks like this. Usually use hook end to scoop and pin end to do an intial cleaning of my bubbler or just clear the downstem.

u/nerdyintentions · 1 pointr/homeautomation

What about leaving the blinds open all the time and using a motorized curtain rod with blackout curtains?

I've seen these on Amazon:

Buy a heavier duty tension curtain rod like this and mount it across the face of the hopper window. It will prevent the window from opening too far and it's non-permanent. You can find a variety of sizes and finishes to match your window.
