Juice maker here. This is no joke. Most juices will lose their original profile within 2 months stored like that. 6 months assumes they are stored in a very cool, very dark place. At the very least, the nic will oxidize and the juice will take on the classic (and very noticeable) peppery taste.

For nic or bulk juice storage, we actually replace the head air with argon gas, just as restaurants will for high end wines by-the-glass.

That obviously isn't an option for small bottles but you should still keep it out of the light and in cold storage.

If you want it displayed, I'd suggest taking a look at small wine fridges. They're actually fairly affordable at ~$100-$250. They are basically mini fridges with glass doors that offer UV protection. They'll protect your juice and still display it.

You could probably devise a frame scheme to display the bottles in the window and store wine, beer, etc on the supplied racks. I'd expect you to get maybe a year or more out of each bottle if kept around 40°F.

Went with a smaller model to start.

Build went as follows:

Cleaned it out with Palmolive Pure & Clear

Sat some baking soda in Tupperware lids for ~2 days with the door closed.

Stuffed it with rolled newspaper for 2 more days with the door open, at that point, the smell was gone.

Purchased a board of Spanish cedar from my local woodworking supply company for about $45, they deliver and they will do some milling for you relatively cheap. I happen to have a table saw at home so the build of the trays went rather smoothly but if you wanted, you could probably have your local shop mill the pieces to the right dimensions. Sadly, Haier has bizarre internal dimensions, so it was a real pain to get everything properly fitted, but with a little trial and error, it came out rather well.

To finish the trays, I placed some UHMW tape on the bottom of the rails; they now slides as if they were on ball bearings.

Hydrating with a 1lb of Heartfelt's right now.

I was looking for a wine cooler to keep my cigars in and started looking on craigslist. My wife has been wanting a winecooler for some time and I was trying to fine a solution to both wants. I found this winecooler for $80 with a dented side that you'll never see.

This is the wine cooler on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Haire-18-Bottle-Curved-Smoked-Cellar/dp/B00DNSO41M

After 96 hours, the upper zone is at 63F and 68%H. If you open the door, even for one minute, the humidity shoots up to 79% and then falls back down to 68% after 2 hours. I'm trying to get cigar shelves to put into the top zone, but they look like they need to be custom ordered.

In that case, I kind of like the Viking products. The use one at my local Steelers bar, and its very fancy to look at. Here' sn example, but Amazon has a few to look at of different sizes and sorts.

Thanks for the reminder!

It is a Haier.

Here's a link to the model, even though Amazon does not currently have it.

This looks like a Vinotemp VT-50SB-ID. It is hard to find out if it is a compressor or thermoelectric. One review in the Review section of Cosco's site indicates that it is compressor, but I'm not 100% sure.

I wound up with a

But the size isn't quite big enough for my pancetta :( And the lack of humidity control is a concern.

I've heard people talk about alternative methods of humidity control, such as a dish of salt water.

If you live in an air conditioned home then leaving a bottle or two in your basement near the ground is likely to be good enough for a few years. But if you want to get into longer term (5, 10, 15 years) aging or if you live in a warmer home, then you're going to want to get a cooler. You can get little 6 bottle coolers that work well enough, but once you start aging a couple bottles you're going to find one or two more that you want to age.. and a few months later you'll find just one or two more.....

This time last year I owned a handful of whites for easy drinking that I kept in my pantry.

6 months ago I made a 17 bottle PVC rack for my expanding collection.

2 weeks ago I gave the rack away because I outgrew it, and I got a 45 bottle cooler.

Today I returned the cooler and ordered a 68 bottle cooler in anticipation of future expansion..

I got my 28 bottle on craigslist for $60. If you want something small then that's a different story, but if you're just looking for a good deal that's not necessarily a great deal. Starting price is very high for the size.

Here's a 16 bottle for ~$106, for example: http://www.amazon.com/Culinair-AW162S-Thermoelectric-16-Bottle-Cooler/dp/B00856PAL0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1418241146&sr=8-2&keywords=wine+fridge&pebp=1418241147952

But if you really want one that size, then go for it, it'll work fine.

Can you find something like this where you are: https://www.amazon.com/Magic-Chef-MCWC6B-Bottle-Countertop/dp/B0077JLHKO/ref=sr_1_10?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1505938010&sr=1-10&keywords=wine+fridge

I had one that just crapped out after about four years. They're pretty unobtrusive and mine did the job for as long as I hard it. And they're not too expensive, depending on how many bottles you keep on hand. I see there's an 18 bottle one on Amazon for $160 right now.

I need a wine cooler to store my humidor in, so that tobacco beetles don't lay eggs and infest the hundreds of dollars worth of cigars in there, ruining them. :(

I've got $30 saved up in gift cards for it, but I keep gifting it away >_<

Would you guys be able to whip something up for an Emerson 8 bottle wine cooler? I'd prefer two drawers, but if that can't be done, I'd at least like a tray. Thanks!

Hmm, not sure "knowing nothing about wine" is a criterion for not knowing how refrigeration works.

Also, 3 dimensions, capacity and budget are extremely important in buying appliances as you could get a 12 bottle fridge for $100 or an 80 bottle for $1,000.

I personally have a 24" Subzero undermount and I love it.
