How cheap are you thinking? They're only about £5 on Amazon.

u/BenderRodriguez14 · 5 pointsr/buildmeapc

Gaming at 4K is going to cost a lot more than that, mainly because the graphics card you will need is extremely expensive...

However if you're happy with 1080p you can switch out that '1080 TI' for a '1060 6GB' and get great results at the highest settings for about $450 less, so about $1,000 - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Ft7CmG/zotac-geforce-gtx-1060-6gb-mini-video-card-zt-p10600a-10l

The case I have picked is called 'mini ITX' form factor meaning the smallest sized motherboard, which allows it to be smaller - though not these motherboards cost about $50 more than the 'ATX' or 'MATX' versions. I have the same case though and also started on the TV before switching to a projector so wanted small size, and it's an awesome little case for just that, the smallest you can get before going up to $200 type custom ones, will slot seemlessly underneath the TV - here it is beside a PS4: http://cdn.overclock.net/3/3a/500x1000px-LL-3a5cfc02_DSC00142.jpeg

Also a quick video on it to get a better idea of it's size - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ptbpKpObzs

The length/width are the exact same as an A4 sheet of paper and it is 7" tall (7.5" if you include the little stubby legs to hold it in place) - it will also fit easily in a backpack with room for controllers, mouse, keyboard if it's small enough, wires, etc.

To keep wires down I got the following too, might be of use to you.

A lot of people say the Turtle Beach headsets are really good, but I use the Steelseries 5xB and I can't really complain about them. They have a really good "puck" that plugs into your controller. The neat thing about it has an 'audio mix' which will quiet down the game a bit whenever someone is speaking through the headset, but you can turn this off if it isn't to your liking. They're portable as well, so you can separate it into 3 pieces, as well as it has a mic that you can push back into the headset if you just want to use it as a headset. The wires connecting the headset to the controller puck are really durable and they pride themselves on this. They say they're 90 dollars online, but I know you can take a look at Amazon, and there's people selling for around 55 dollars plus shipping. I bought them at BestBuy in Canada for 60 bucks.

I know everyone says they use Turtle Beach headsets, so I wanted to try something new and I'm pretty happy with it. Definitely look around though, everyone is going to say to use Tritton's and Turtle Beach, but see if you can find an adapter puck that plugs into your controller and find a really good pair of headsets that use the Speaker and Microphone plug in instead of USB.

Edit: You can also buy an adapter like this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/SteelSeries-Xbox-Headset-Connector-Black/dp/B001FSKK2O

And then buy any headset that has a Microphone and Speaker plug in and use that. It might work better because many times "Gamer" headsets aren't well built and don't sound as good as audio headsets.

Hey there, the headphone for you is probably the Skullcandy PLYR-1, it's not recommended frequently around here, but it's quite well liked by Mad_Lust_Envy who has a very well respected gaming headphone guide. The headphones are wireless and have an integrated microphone. His guide may contain other headphones that entice you, so definitely give it a look!

I was in the same boat. I bought the controller adapter which also comes with a jack size converter. Because of that I have been able to use my old xbox 360 headset which I really like.

You can also use mic-in headphones you use for a phone. Although you can't use Apples. Samsung and Skullcandy work. $25 for controller adapter and $10 for headphones. You can often find 360 headphones for around $10 as well. You can also find super cheap chat headsets on Amazon for $5-$10, but honestly the black 360 chat set is great for what it is - simple chat headset

Xbox 360 Black Headset https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004QDV76S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_RYx7wbNSVK5BF

Edit: very sorry, I read over the part where you said you wanted the stereo headset. You can use mic-in phone headphones as a stereo headset. The adapter is very nice. It allows you to adjust the volume level of chat and ingame sound on the adapter itself

Budget- $150 or less

Source- PC

Requirements for isolation- None

Public?- Home use only

Preferred type of headphones- I can not for the life of me find comfortable headphones like the Gioteck - EX05 which I bought on a whim. The most important part is that it can match these with comfort and ear size. That microfiber cushion with the proper size is hard for me to find so, heavy emphasis on that.

Preferred tonal balance- I'm not sure. Will only use these to play games.

Past headphones- Gioteck-EX05

Preferred music- Rock and hip-hop. Some electro.

What would you like to improve on your next set-up? - Sturdiness and a better mic. Honestly, comfort is a huge deal for me.

I really like this headset

Its affordable and it for what your paying, it's VERY nice.

u/awaythrow810 · 1 pointr/buildapc

$45 used for a good wireless headset

$43 for another decent used headset

buildapcsales also has you covered if you want to look yourself

Supposedly you can hook some headsets up to the Xbox one controller, don't think you can do that with the 360 but either way it's going to be a pretty big hassle. I'd just connect directly to the PC.

A true povo solution would be to pair this mic with the budget headphones of your choice. You can get some surprisingly good basic headphones for $20-30

I'm content with the quality of my Skullcandy's atm. I'm no audiophile so I don't have any kind of audio expectations. Connecting to my controller for my mic isn't an issue for me I just don't want cords running along my floor to my Xbox. I currently have a Skullcandy PLYR2 that I use for my PC, XBO, and PS4. I've only used it once or twice on the PS4 but it works great with the other two options. My main issue is that my PC is upstairs and my XBO is downstairs and, as far as I know, I'm not able to buy a standalone adapter (if it would even work. I've heard some devices are paired individually and uniquely to adapters). That means I have to disconnect my USB adapter from my PC, then connected it to my XBO, which isn't easy to get to a USB port with external HDD's and charging controllers, and re-pair the devices every time I want to swap platforms. This wouldn't be an issue if I were a consistent gamer for hours but sometimes I want to play Xbox for a half hour or hour then go jump on my PC.

Unopened Turtle Beach headset. It was a duplicate sent. Did not even open. $40

This isn't actually wireless, right? They advertise as wireless, but you have to have it plugged in to the controller, yes?

BTW, these ones are about $60 http://smile.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-Melee-Headphone-Black-Xbox/dp/B00E1L7836/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1409850039&sr=8-2&keywords=polk+melee

But if closed/open back doesn't have anything to do with it, I don't understand why my current headset doesn't do the same, as I'm fairly certain they're closed back. It's this: https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Spectrum-Gaming-Headset-Xbox-360/dp/B00452V21K

I don't use it that often which is also why I haven't cared much about having a decent pair. And I'm probably just gonna go with a $100-$200 pair this time around.

Do you know if the Sennheiser gaming headsets are any good?

u/USawN0THING · 1 pointr/buildapc

I own this Geoteck AX1-R Headset: https://www.amazon.com/Gioteck-XBOX-360-Amplified-Definition-Headphones/dp/B00F32V9WS. I wanted to know if I could use this for my pc or if I could make it work using some sort of adapter? Thank you! If not could you recommend me a cheap headset.

u/declared_somnium · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Got sick and tired, on my xbox, of using the kinect to chat. As much as I'd love to be able to get a good headset, I just can't afford it.

However, I found one, good price (cheaper than an xbox one chat headset) with good reviews. It's a budget headset, and I have no doubt in my mind that it will eventually break, but with the new GTA Online DLC coming out (we get to form biker gangs) I just had to sort one out.

Stereo headset, so game audio too. Just under £15, or a smidge under $20. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

the headset in question

u/Quatchez · 0 pointsr/xboxone

I've got these and they are awesome. Expensive but amazing.

u/Not_Han_Solo · 0 pointsr/grandrapids

I'm all for repairs over replacement, but the materials/equipment on this one is probably going to run you $30-40, and if this issue is persistent for that set, won't it spring up again? Feels a bit like throwing good money after bad.

Options: If you must have an in-line mic and you like your current set otherwise, just get a refurb set off Amazon. $19.

If you just need an affordable set of quality headphones, I can't recommend the Superlux HD-681 Evos highly enough. Magnificent sound, $45 pricetag. Great customer service too; I had a small issue on the audio in line, and they fixed it and sent my cans back to me within a week.
