Hello 90-dayers!
I think this is a great initiative. I was previously at /r/BTFC, which I found extremely useful to get focused on goals. As there will be many changes for me in the next months (taking a leave of absence), good to have a place, community to track my progress and focus on my goals. This is my first 90 day challenge, so I'm somewhat lost on procedure, I'll wing it!
++++ Stats ++++
++++ GOALS FOR FITNESS & DIET ++++
Diet: Clean eating. Quit sugary snacks. I eat more or less cleanly, except for chocolates on sugars. By October 22, I am extremely proud that I've eaten sugar free on 80 of the 90 days.
Fitness - Sprint 1: July 15 - August 13: I am feeling strong as I'm on Week 7 of Yayog 1st class. Also, I feel the burn from doing Enter The Kettlebell 3 days a week.
Fitness - Sprint 2: August 19 - September 17: I am walking tall and confident as I've finished 1st class. To celebrate, I ran my own sprint triathlon on rest week.
Fitness - Sprint 3: September 23 - October 22: I am strong and generous as I'm in the next 10-week program, week5. I can complete a Turkish Get Up with my 16kg Kettlebell. And do a pistol on either leg without it.
I have no goals on dropping weight, as long as it remains around current level or lower. But I'll be tremendously pleased if body fat goes down to 20%.
++++ GOALS FOR SPIRITUAL CARE ++++
In the last six months, I've become aware of a lot of
crapheritage I carry on my shoulders from growing in a narcissistic family. I need to do a lot of cleanup as I choose to (1) have a good life, (2) stop the cycle of narcissism so I don't become narcissistic myself and (3) build an alternative mindset for me and my family. The narcissistic circle finishes with me.++++ GOALS FOR PROVIDER ++++
By Oct 22nd, I'm confident on my future as I've built a local network of work contacts of 50 people, and identified 10 new positions I'm going to apply to for my next position.
++++ OTHER ++++
I need to clean up a lot of my psychological heritage, as it's negatively affecting my relationships and life in general.
I start a leave of absence this summer, to recharge batteries and reconsider next career moves.
I will travel to my country for one month with my kids (source of fun and stress), which will allow me to better understand where I come from and how is my family working.
++++ Let's Be Friends ++++
I'm on Fitocracy. I invite you to friend/follow me/message me!
Also, if anyone else on Europe time, support PMs & checks are an option. PM to discuss (never done this one before, seems like a good idea).
Good luck, everyone! We can do this!
Hello everyone! Meet me over here! I'm 29, F, 5'2", and 180 lbs. Shorties unite!
So while out doing C25K W2D1 just a few moments ago, I was thinking what 5K I wanted to participate in and last year I really wanted to do the SF Giants race but life went to shit and that didn't happen. Well... IT'S GONNA HAPPEN THIS YEAR! And I'm going to do the SJ Giants race as well! Today, January 27, 2015, I made that decision! And before I even left for my jog, I ordered an armband! I recently moved from simple phone to smart phone world so I can now track my jogs.
Speaking of making decisions, I wanted to quote my book and I have it now: "'I don't make a decision every morning. I made a decision once, long ago, to run every day. When I wake up, the decision is already made.' - Walt Guzzardi, runner" - The Runner's Book of Daily Inspiration. I love this book and especially this quote (I even put a sticky on the page with a star) because I substitute "running" with job searching, meditation, eating healthy, etc. Here is the rest of the page for January 8:
Inspiration comes and goes. You can never be sure where, or when, it will alight.
Inspiration is like a hummingbird, constantly in motion. When it finally lands, it's only for the briefest of instants. One small noise and it flashes away so quickly that you wonder if it was there at all.
Every runner needs inspiration, but the best runners and the ones who have been doing it a long time mainly get their inspiration from running. The act itself is what gives them the motivation.
Some days you're not going to feel like it. You're going to feel like practicing your avoidance techniques rather than your running techniques. That's inevitable--and normal.
But if you can find the wherewithal to drag yourself out of bed or the office (or wherever you happen to be) and run, you will receive an instant supply of motivation. You will be flooded with motivation; it will surge through your veins like a drug. You will be reminded once more why you run and why you make the effort. And you will wonder why you hesitated at all.
Remember that feeling--and how good you feel after a run--the next time your wellspring of inspiration seems dried up.
This page is awesome! And now I'm excited to train for my 5Ks this summer!

Today's Goals
Hey everyone! It is a gorgeous sunny day so I took my strength training workout to the beach today. Hooray! I have also lost 2 inches from my waist this month so I am beyond happy.
I also got the "last resort" sports bra from Title9 and am SUPER impressed. Love love love it!
I have no recipes. I have literally been so bad at cooking lately. I will throw out there though that my favorite cookbook in the universe is definitely the Well Fed cookbook. I have made about half of the recipes and love 99% of them.
Good morning! I'm doing really well today, which is awesome when compared to yesterday. I actually went to bed early and slept like a rock. The fact that it's raining can't even get me bummed.
My scale number is fluctuating randomly, so I'm not paying attention to it much. I don't think my measurements have changed much either, but I'm feeling better, so that's what matters.
I hit all of my goals yesterday, including drinking my BCAAs! I'm so proud of myself. However, I don't think I'm hitting my high intensity level when I'm doing HIIT, so I fixed my heart rate monitor last night and will wear it next Tuesday. I also got a new log book in and it is WONDERFUL. If you lift weights and want a good log book, look no further than this book.
I'm slowly discovering tuna, so if anyone has good tuna recipes, please send them my way. Right now I'm making tuna sandwiches by mixing 4 oz of tuna with 2 tbsp of dijon mustard and 1 tsp of Greek yogurt and then topping it with avocado and cucumber. It's actually pretty dang tasty, so apparently I can randomly mix ingredients together and get a good result.
BQ: My favorite book in the last year had to be Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson. She just does such an amazing job of explaining how we should see depression/mental illness. The book is also about her struggles with mental health and chronic illness, but she makes you laugh so much through the book. I'm sure it is not for anyone, but if you have a loved one dealing with depression this is a book I would recommend. I have bought copies for people just so they could read it.
Yesterday:
I got everything done on my list, BUT I tried to submit my very last module test and the damn site will not let me. I'm going to be so pissed if I have to retake this test :( I will have to contact the school once they open. Sigh.
In better news, I made more progress in the garden! Planted romaine lettuce, sweet peppers, habaneros, chives, dill, and put mulch around all the new strawberries. I figure by the weekend I should have the raised beds fully planted and the potted stuff pretty close to done! Our dinner salad was also pretty awesome :)
Today:
I know, we discussed that once in the beginning of 90 days and it was always good to see you posting daily and to know that you are also still on track. Great to hear that you are doing better too! I'm still convinced that we can arrive at a point where we have an entirely relaxed and normal relationship with food. Just going a couple of days without feeling the need to binge is amazing and very relaxing already so although I know that not all my problems will be solved magically once that this lies behind me I'm still looking forward to it.
This is the book I read, it's less than 10 dollars for the kindle edition. I just finished it and will start a new one today. Just reading about this topic every night is helpful for me to stay motivated and on track. And the time is much better spent than on watching TV.
I just bought Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrammage on Kindle, plus I got A Tale for the Time Being and A Constellation of Vital Phenomena on Audible for long runs and entertainment while doing Christmas food prep :)
What to Eat looks interesting - would love to hear if you find it useful!
Happy Saturday! I had a reasonably good day yesterday, although I've had a long week. Tomorrow is Mother's Day, a day I both dread and look forward to in about equal measures. The kids and the husband have been conspiring, I have figured out what I want them to feed me all day, and I have several good shows lined up to binge watch. Mother's Day is rough--I had a terrible relationship with my mom, but she's been gone for almost 20 years and I still miss her constantly. And there's missing babies and loss and just. It's a hard day.
Today, though my mind is clearly elsewhere, I have a proposal and optin to work on. Also a nap.
BQ: I've been using quarterly planning for years, long before I found this place. I really like the 12 Week Year by Brian Moran for helping create your system. There's real magic in this kind of planning, because you can set realistic goals that also stretch you. And I must say, I have come to really value break weeks. I am already looking ahead to the end of this sprint, and the ways in which I'm going to rest and rejuvenate.

BQ Watching Great British Bake Off (isn't everyone?), re-watching ST:DS9, and Better Call Saul. Just started reading the latest in the Lady Astronaut series, because the first one was so good:

This is the book i'm reading/drawing from! It starts from an extremely basic, "you've never drawn before" sort of standpoint, which I liked.
I've made a lot of progress so far, in just 6 of the lessons. Although, I've taken a little more than a day a lesson.
Pick up this book Best $30 I ever spent. Learn to lift properly without hurting yourself.
Yeah, Pete Pfitzinger wrote the definitive guide to marathon training, it's considered to be the bible on /r/running and /r/advancedrunning... http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Marathoning-2nd-Pete-Pfitzinger/dp/0736074600
In the book there are sample training regimens for all sorts of scenarios, weekly milages, skill levels, etc. Hal Higdon also has this sort of thing on his website, but I think Pfitz does a better job with speedwork.
Book recommendation: I highly recommend the biographic trilogy of Theodore Roosevelt by Edmund Morris. Trust me once you start you will not want to do anything but read until all three books are done.
First book is called The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt

I have been so miserable and stressed for the last few weeks, between work and studying for the bar, along with relationship and financial stress, I have felt like I am at the end of my rope for longer than I can bear. I'm still trucking along, but it's not been good: In the last 4 weeks, I have had to bail someone out of jail (big financial hit until court date, and then bail processing...), I had to find a new apartment with no notice, moving expenses and related fees, relationship problems (that are getting better), my dog needed emergency surgery, and about $2500 in other emergency expenses... on top of bar studying which is already immensely stressful and a job that is unbearably toxic. "At the end of my rope" doesn't really begin to cover it.
I really want to try coloring as an outlet for stress. I'm looking into getting something like this. Several studies have shown that coloring intricate designs is as good for you as meditation and unlocks a lot of creativity, which has been lacking in my life.
If anyone has tried coloring as an outlet, let me know what you thought about it. :)
