I've had my screen protector on my watch for the last 2 months and I went swimming a dozen times. It’s a must for me to prevent scratches and cracks that I see people complain about in this sub.

I like cases to protect the body of the watch from scuffs and chips and scratches, but not everyone agrees.

I can’t recommend cheap Chinese knockoff watch bands if that’s what you mean by third party. The only exception I know of is that most of the knockoff Milanese Loop bands seem to be acceptable. You would have to specify what type of band you want. Sport band, nylon, metal, Nike, etc ....

I wanted one that was gray to match my space gray watch better. They are really form fitting and thin and barely stick out from the watch at all. Great case, but it's bulky. It has a raised edge that MIGHT protect the screen a little, but I don't trust it so I still use a screen protector.

So I know this won't be for everyone but browsing amazon I came across this and figured it'd work great for me. I love the look of leather bands but wearing them gives me some skin irritation problems. The material is super soft and flexible. Fits great and really comfortable. Thought I'd share for anyone else interested.

I can speak about my experience with my Space Black 42mm watch, but I’d imagine this to be similar for you. I wanted the look of the Apple bracelet with horizontal links. I tried the KADES one from Amazon ( https://www.amazon.com/KADES-Stainless-Bracelet-Compatible-Butterfly/dp/B019IO4TTG ) and had issues with one of the non-detachable links detaching. I tried an EOSO bracelet ( http://www.eoso.org/apple-watch-band-c-109/ ) and it was better, but surprisingly inflexible.

I bout an Apple bracelet, and the quality difference was night and day. Not only was it way better than the knockoffs, but it’s definitely my favorite watch bracelet ever, after having worn several Seikos, and a few Omegas and other nicer watches.

Here’s the trick: if you’re willing to be a bit patient, you can find open box and/or scratch-and-dent bracelets from China on eBay for about $150. I bought a space black one with a tiny scratch on one lug for about that price, and I’m glad I did. Many of the higher quality knockoffs or third party options are in the $50-80 range anyway, so it’s not that much of a stretch to get up to a price where an OEM bracelet makes sense.

I have some other OEM and knockoff bands, and with the sport loops I can’t really tell a difference. But the Apple bracelet is absolutely a big step up from any third party bracelet.

For Milanese, I got this and this (obviously not both for my watch). I got this link band, my only complaint is it is a little heavy, but I have seen lighter ones I would consider. I got this leather one and love it. I wanted a learther band without the contrasting thread so this one was perfect. Like any leather band, it is definitely a bit deformed around where it buckles together, but you can only see it when not wearing it and it looks great the rest of the time. Next leather band I would probably look for a padded one though.

I have the LK Screen Protector with Spigen Rugged Armor Pro (case and band model) for months now and that combo is rock solid.

The screen protector looks and feels fine. Of course not using any would look and feel better, but you have to make some compromises for protection.Tempered glass should be better of course but I don't know if it will be compatible with the case.

The best part is, it seems this particular screen protector is indeed case friendly and there is no interference whatsoever between the case and the protector and hopefully, it stays the same down the road.

I use these. It’s not a hard protector, like tempered glass, but it’s good at preventing scratches on the screen. It’s like a soft silicone-like material. It’s pretty solid. Saved my screen many times. And there’s 6 in the pack. However, they are NOT water proof. Don’t go swimming with it

Current favorites are:

• Nomad Modern Strap (I already own it in brown and the slate gray version just shipped today)
  
• If you want a cheaper leather band (not as wide as those above), you can search for "Mifa" on Amazon. They come in black , brown, and gray and are good for the money. Just got one in black silicone with a layer of brown leather on top that looks nice with the black outlining the brown.
  
• Juuk Ligero is my go-to metal band (Cosmic Gray matches the watch almost perfectly)
  
• Carterjett's NATO bands (you'll find these on Amazon, and they come in various colors in nylon as well as black and brown leather)
  
• Apple's sport bands (I've got three: black, gray, and white)
  
• A few knockoff sport bands (silicone) in colors that I like but only work out in, so I'm not willing to spend the cash for the genuine sport bands. You can get these on Amazon or AliExpress.

Unsure if it was suggested but take the strap off and put it down your bra. Probably the outside of the cup, would work best. Try it around where you live doing little tasks to see if it stays in place, and tracks steps. I guess putting it in the middle would make it more likely to move and/or fall out.

You could clip it to a bra strap, you could clip to the inside or outside of the waist band of your skirt or pants. You could clip it inside your shirt, attache to the back side of a belt or attach to an undergarment, like tights. If you’re willing to do a little sewing you could attach a small pouch, just big enough for the watch without the band, that can be sewn just about anywhere inside a garment. Velcro attachment points would facilitate moving the pouch to different garments. Just a few ideas, after brain storming with friends. Hope you get it sorted to your benefit.

I'm a nurse and want to wear mine at work. I just got my Apple Watch Sport and I'm worried about scratching it by bumping it on someone's bed rail or something, so I ordered a screen protector from Amazon and also some bumpers for the face to change up the color and add some protection from scuffs. I also got apple care. I may be being too cautious, but I rarely spend $350 on an accessory so you're damn right I'm gonna baby it!

Edit: This is the screen protector I ordered. I haven't received it yet but it offers edge to edge protection and seemed to have mostly positive reviews.

These are the bumpers I got. I thought they'd add a little extra protection and plus it'll be fun to switch up the colors and match them with different bands.

As of writing this, I only really know of the official band and some of the 3rd party Milanese Loop ones that fit me. Though my official one fits me better, I really need to inch the Milanese Loop one up my hand to wear it.

Seems the struggle is real but the adapters previously mentioned do make it easier to use bands not normally made for the Apple Watch. If you're able to find some bands that work well with your wrist.

I'm slowly finding a collection of bands I can use and looking for something close to this band, because you can add more links to it.

I love it on my AW S4 44 SBSS. It keeps me worry free when doing yard work. I also tend to bump my arm into everything.

I’ve got the sapphire screen myself, so I don’t bother but one of my girlfriends uses this one on hers and seems to be happy with it.

They come in a whole set, but I just use the black one. I'm constantly bumping my hands into things and wanted to protect my watch. It's done a great job, I have broken one and reordered to get another black one.

As OP mentioned they're abit dubious I thought I'd weigh in - for anyone not familiar it's a stand alone battery pack for your apple watch - enough to charge my S0 from flat to 100% in less than an hourish maybe? I've owned them for about 8 months (one for me, one for SO) and I really can't put a single complaint on paper other than the price

Where it doesn't match your criteria is that it's Micro USB and not lightning.. Cables do exist that charge both however, such as this

I have a cable that has both Lightning and Micro USB and you can use both at the same time, however I don't see one on amazon.

They are fantastic for traveling, fits on my key fob and I can't recommend them enough.

I got the 38mm LTE series 3 in silver aluminum with applecare. I put a screen protector and case on regardless of which model because they all scratch. If you’re concerned about shattering from impact or bumps then definitely go with the aluminum and save some cash.

I have the Series 4 with LTE and workout with it for at least an hour a day and I wear it at night. After taking it off charger on day 1 by the time I go to bed on day 2 at 9pm (I get up at 4:30 to workout) I have about 10-15% charge left and I get about 50 notifications/day.

Yes, the two piece ones are bands that would work with the AW. But in order to attach them to the AW, you would need an adapter like this.

I happened to find your question, and wanted to suggest this portable charger, it's the size of a slightly thicker key fob and fits in my purse just fine, and it clips to a loop so it doesn't get lost. Here is the link.

My father and I each have one and they work great. You can find them in the same color as the watch. They hold enough juice for two charges and can be recharged at night.

I just got my S2 alum in yesterday and first thing I did when taking the plastic or w.e off was put a screen protector on. Figure if the alum version is more durable body wise, might as well get a screen protector to get the screen nice and durable.

Like you said the saphire screen on the SS will be dimmer than the ionx glass of the AWS. In your case I'd recommend getting the AWS and get a screen protector like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NG09HHS/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A127GCSIQ9QZ6G
The reason being that if you go naked with either watch and you'll be around sand which is high on the ohm scale, it has the potential to scratch both the sapphire and ionx glass. No matter which casing you get it will likely scratch be it aluminum or steel. Since you'll be subjecting the watch to harsh conditions and there's a chance of damaging the ss and aws I don't recommend spending the extra couple hundred for the ss. Also the aws will be slightly more visible in sunlight and it is lighter on the wrist. Rather get the aws and a screen protector.

But you could use just the case if you wanted.

This is the one I used, and I am using the Spigen Rugged Armor Case. Love it. No worries of damage or scratching. Watch is fully encased.

I use these from Amazon. I have a physical job so I wanted something on the screen to keep it somewhat protected. Installation was a pain, but in the end worth it. No other complaints.

These are the crappy ones. The screws come loose, and they fall apart. You must check & maintain them by tightening the screws on a routine, regular basis. They're a big pain.

  I prefer the spring lugs. Easier to remove and swap, and no screws to fall out.
