DAFT PUNKR&P INTERNATIONALINTERNATIONALMUSIC
I'm not an expert on the matter but I know the basics, hopefully I can help -
First, your last question - yes, a LOT of good music is still released on vinyl. Most records come with a digital download of some sort so if you want to collect vinyl but still have your iTunes library you can do so for minimal cost on top of what you'd already be paying for the digital music anyway.
For a full setup - you don't have to pay as much as some enthusiasts would lead you to believe you also can't expect to get a halfway decent sound out of $60 unit from Target that has built in speakers. At the very least you are looking at $150, and that's if you can make some awesome garage sale scores. If you want brand new equipment you are looking at at least $300-$400.
You will need a turntable, a pre-amplifier, a stereo receiver, and speakers. A lot of stereo receivers like this one have a built in phonograph pre-amp so if you want to knock out 2 birds with one stone go that route. For a turntable, just find something that has a replaceable cartridge (needle), has a stylus counterweight (to keep weight off your record), and is fairly heavy (weight = no vibration). Speakers aren't really hard to figure out - just find some unpowered speakers on Amazon that have a good rating. You don't need some ridiculous setup with a subwoofer and surround sound...two basic floor speakers will sound great.
If you can't afford all of that you can always just get a cheap turntable with USB output like this and some USB speakers like this. It won't sound amazing but it's plenty good enough for most people.
There are all sorts of amps you can get. Are you interested in tube or solid-state? Are you getting the ATH-M50s for sure? If you are, you will need to get a high-wattage tube amplifier, because the ATH-M50s only produce 38 ohms, which is a low impedance. This means that plugged into a tube amplifier, they will not be very loud, especially compared to higher-impedance headphones. To compensate for this, you will need to get a higher-wattage amplifier, which translates to more expensive.
Depending on your price range, I would direct you to anything from the solid-state Behringer HA40 to the tube HiFiMan Ef5. Honestly unless you are an experienced audiophile, you will not need a tube amplifier, but they are really cool. If you want to meet somewhere in the middle there are also what's called integrated amplifiers, which combine the components of tube and solid-state amplifiers. They claim is that they produce the quality of tube with the volume of solid-state at a price between the two. That's up to the judges right now but for most an integrated amplifier is definitely ample, especially a beginner.
Personally I use the FiiO E6 as my portable headphone amplifier. It's pretty good for being so small but I do hear white noise at louder levels. FiiO is a fairly reputable amplifier company if you want to look into them. I really don't know enough about amplifiers yet (this is my weakest area) to recommend a specific product, but here are some popular integrated amplifiers. I'm still garnering the money and experience to become an amplifier connoisseur.
What is your local craigslist? I can look around for you. The best luck I had though was going to pawnshops. If you do go the used way then you will have to buy a new needle. I have this one and it sounds great and is pretty cheap.
Also you should put a post over in /r/vinyl, they know way more than I do. And here is a nice article on buying a turntable for cheap.
I bought a trashed copy of Kraftwerk's Autobahn just so I could frame it (Art was in good shape, but the LP was rough). I love the album, and every time I see it on my wall I'm reminded of how amazing it is.
EDIT: Also, they make these now, which makes it feasible to play framed records often: https://www.amazon.com/Art-Vinyl-Display-Record-3-Pack/dp/B000C1YV8Y
I had a pair of Grado SR-60i's. They were great, and the general consensus on Reddit as well as Amazon is that if you don't need isolation, they're the best headphones you can get in that price range.
You might get better responses over at /r/headphones.
As far as I know, there are 3 methods.
First, you can use the sticker window tint and hope you can get the creases out. It seems like a long-shot so I avoided it.
Second, you can possibly tint the plastic by dipping it in warm fabric dye. Some people have said that it doesn't work, others have said that it warped their plastic. So I avoided that too.
Lastly, you can use a spray paint called Nightshades. It is used to tint taillights on cars, but people have used it for helmets and other plastics before. I just tested it out on some spare plastic tonight, and it looks like it should work. You just have to be really careful about scratches and dust as they will magnify in the tint.
TL;DR Use the spray-on tint Nightshades (Amazon).
It has a plethora of downvotes on youtube. People are complaining that it is just the song but with static. Personally, I enjoyed the little bit of Daft flair.
Here is an Amazon link to buy it if you so desire.

My copy brand new was $14.87. Comparing this to the eBay listings I have seen looks like I got it for a very good price.

Man, I just bought this album! It was produced by Guy-Man.
