Man, I have a lot of reading to catch up on here today! Y’all are chatty and I love it. ❤️

So I have several things to share:

  1. I am still planning to share pictures of my kitchen remodel, but two things have been holding me up. One, we still need to touch up the paint but are struggling to find an exact match for the color (it’s a lighter grey and the seller left cans in the garage, but we can’t find the exact shade yet because the whole house is varying shades of grey with white accents). So there are some rough patches on the walls that haven’t been fixed yet. Two, I was going to have everything super organized and show pictures of everything neatly put away, but I’ve been going back and forth with the company about the last organizers and I’m still working through finding places for a few things. So would y’all want to see pictures anyway knowing that it’s not 100% finished and organized, but like 98% there?

  2. I decided to replace my rolling plastic drawers with an IKEA Helmer unit and I’m so glad I did. It’s smaller, much more stable, and I can store all my nail polish standing upright. I still have plenty of space left even with all of my nail tools, nail polish remover, nail/cuticle treatments, stamping plates, wraps and so on in there. It’s such a good piece and still fits my skincare fridge on top.

  3. Sunday was my birthday! I’m old. ☠️ But the important thing is that my husband got me the new Pat McGrath Mothership VI palette AND the Natasha Denona Gold Palette AND and Mount Lai jade comb (amongst other non-beauty gifts). He’s the best at gift giving. I’d consider marrying him again.

  4. Speaking of my husband, thanks for asking after him yesterday! He got home safely after a very. long. drive. and we’re all good here in Texas. Our neighborhood saw a lot of rain but didn’t flood. (We bought this house last year and made sure that it didn’t flood during Harvey, so I feel mostly safe when these things happen.) Today it’s clear and beautiful, but given yesterday’s mess he stayed home to work and I’m very grateful that he has a job where he can do that now.

  5. Because he’s home today, instead of eating popcorn for lunch while my daughter screams at me, I was able to actually cook. So I just made some empanadas. 🥟 Yes, I realize that’s a potsticker emoji but it’s the closest I can find! We never like the same fillings so his are filled with refried beans, jalapeños, and cheese, and mine are knockoff humita filling with creamed corn (frozen kind with real cream, not the canned kind) and mozzarella cheese. They’re super easy to make, you can buy the dough rounds at the grocery store (I like the Goya puff pastry kind), fill them with anything, seal them up by pressing the edges together, poke a hole for the steam, and bake at 400 degrees F for 30 minutes. They’re amazing with some pie filling or Nutella too.

And the Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Liquid Soap, Lavender, 32 Fluid Ounce 32 oz (big!) is only $13.99, even cheaper than the peppermint ones which is $15.99.

So if you buy two of the lavender soap, you can add another brush soap like the Ecotools Cruelty Free and Eco Friendly Makeup Brush Cleansing Shampoo, 6 Ounce; Wash Away Surface Makeup, Oil, and Impurities from Brushes for only $3.39. Now your total will be a little over $30, after $10 off is $20 for THREE brush liquid soaps. yay! I love clean brushes and beauty blenders!

I like this Amazon deal better than the $10 gift card for spending $30 Target deal. Because you just pay less, while in Target, you have to pay $30 then get a gift card.

All the products qualified for this $10 off deal is listed here

One of my favorites is the Neutrogena tinted lip balm in Sunny Berry. It's the perfect lip product for the purse. It's moisturizing, has SPF, and gives enough color to make you look put together. I love it for travel, too, when your lips get dry but you want to look nice.

If you're into K-Beauty, the PeriPera lip tints are nice (the CLUBCLIO seller is an official source/store). They tend to be either pink or red, but they're fun to play with.

Amazon has so many sheet masks, if that's your thing. My favorite are the Tosowoong Blueberry, but they also have a sampler pack.

I keep mine in a silerware drawer organizer; this isn't the exact one, but it's similar (I found mine for something like $7-8 at TJM)

https://www.amazon.com/Honey-Can-Do-KCH-02154-5-Compartment-Cutlery-Organizer/dp/B007B8RKIE

The dividers are just tall enough to keep them upright without blocking too much of my view, and the whole thing slides across my cabinet nicely (I store it up under a shelf, so it almost functions as a drawer for me). I have a couple of acrylic pieces for smaller stuff (it seems like a requirement nowadays lol) but that has never been something I want for everything...figuring out alternate storage ideas has been a fun journey.

I love Shiseido's senka mineral water uv gel. It fluctuates between $6-8 for 40 mL on amazon. It's very thin/watery, doesn't leave a whitecast as far as I can tell, isn't greasy on my combo/oily skin.

I also like Nivea's sun protect water gel (not super protect), which I can't find on amazon anymore for some reason. It has the texture/finish of Clinique's dramatically different moisturizing gel for oily/combo skin.

Since I just started collecting makeup on Black Friday (and am having so much fun thanks to this sub), my palettes have been crowding into the drawers of my little countertop organizer.
This week I finally ordered a clear file organizer to keep them in, and I'm so happy with it! Good quality for the money and looks lovely with all the cute palettes!

I use the verb hydrating mask once a week and it is ok, nothing to write home about. A while back I needed new hair products but didn't have time to do proper research so I got a bunch of stuff from that brand since it was relatively cheap and had good reviews. I am sure it is a great brand (I don't want to come across as if I am knocking it) but it wasn't really suitable for my needs.

I was thinking of getting a deep conditioning treatment so I bought these cheap "processing" caps that are disposable to use with it, now I just need to figure out which product I want to use 😂. I have an Alexa in the bathroom and that is what I use in the bathroom for timers, but the verb mask says to leave it on for 5-7 minutes so I don't think it is a deep conditioning treatment.

I don't have a scalp scrubber so maybe I should get one. I use the dpHUE scalp scrub -- I think it is a little messy to apply (maybe all scalp scrubs are, this is the only one I have used) but now that my hair is shorter it is not as bad. I like what it does for me though and I use it once a week. Dandruff shampoo has always been very drying for my hair so I am not a fan -- I also think it sometimes makes my scalp worse. I think I might have a dry scalp or maybe build up and not dandruff because dandruff products tend to aggravate the problem for me. My scalp gets worse when I am stressed and have a lot going on or when I don't wash my hair for 2-3 days (even when I wasn't running) but it is not always bad and the dpHUE rinse has made a huge difference.

I think the shampoo/conditioner I have been alternating with from verb is sulfate free, but I am not the best at noticing ingredients.

I always worry about getting stuff from eBay or amazon or any unauthorized retailer because I wouldn't know how to tell if I am getting the real deal.

Thanks so much for all your suggestions and for taking the time to help me out, I really appreciate it!

Hi everyone,

What are your favorite vanity top/countertop makeup mirrors with lights? I'd like one that plugs in and magnification is not necessary.

This is my current mirror: https://www.amazon.com/Conair-Double-Sided-Lighted-Makeup-Mirror/dp/B003JFBXMM

And this is an example of the type of vanity that I have: https://www.amazon.com/BEWISHOME-Cushioned-Dressing-Dividers-Organizers/dp/B07NZZQYTX

I would like to have something larger and brighter than what I have. I don't have much natural lighting in the room. I'm open to anything really. My budget doesn't go up to Simple Human mirror level price but I have some leeway. I'd love to hear everyone's recommendations!

I love Dr Brandt microdermabrasion exfoliant. It’s not cheap, but the 2oz is half the price of the comparable size of Exfolikate on Amazon. Amazon
