OK, I play on PC so I think this should work for you.

I'm in the same boat. Grew up playing MK1-3 at the arcade and wanted to play MKX.

After trying to play on a controller, I couldn't get into it. So I decided to go the fight stick route. Had no clue which way to go but after lots of searching and whatnot, here';s what I found.

Biohazard and others like to use a TE2. It seems to be the bee's knees. I didn't want to sink $200 into a stick to try out so I got a Qanba Drone. The joystick didn't feel right so I found this tutorial that shows ya how to change the joystick out for a better one. Now, technically it's not like the old MK1-3 sticks in the arcade but I've grown to like it. You can change out the buttons too if you want but I haven't done that yet.

If you want a fight stick that's like the old MK arcade sticks, you want one of these.

Let me know if i can help ya out anymore.

You can find similar products available for purchase currently. Find something like this in-store and check out the feel of the buttons to see if you like it. If you don't like the left stick, don't worry. The MKX ones are actual Dpads, so as long as you enjoy the feel of the buttons you'll be good to go.

Look at the replies to your post. It really wasn’t funny.

Do some research. Crunch is real, it happens a lot in the industry. I don’t think NetherRealm has denied it either. Here’s a good book that shares a lot of stories about crunch and how damaging it can be:

Blood, Sweat, and Pixels: The Triumphant, Turbulent Stories Behind How Video Games Are Made https://www.amazon.com/dp/0062651234/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5nooDbZGYAZP0

Pretty sure the crybabies in this scenario are the people whining they’re not getting their DLC fast enough.

building your own will run close to that...

PCB - cheapest would be pad hack but you'd need soldering skills so ~$50

Case- old one off ebay $50

Buttons - $2.50 each so $25

Joystick - $20

Misc wires and QDs- $15

so you are at somewhere around $150 without factoring in shipping or taxes...

best bet get this - http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Real-Arcade-Pro-Hayabusa-Xbox/dp/B00ND0EBQ8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426620327&sr=8-1&keywords=hori+xbox+one

If you have a bug up you to do a project then here is a walkthrough - http://stevokanevo.blogspot.com/2013/12/xbox-one-padhack-joystick-building_10.html

I suppose you could use something like this but a proper ps4 controller would last you a lot longer and much more comfortable to hold

If you are just starting out for cheap you can get a hori fight stick mini for about $50.

https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Fighting-Stick-Mini-PlayStation-4/dp/B014KXMEW4

if you want a large one you really cant go wrong with a Qanba drone.

https://www.amazon.com/Qanba-Drone-PlayStation-4/dp/B01I0GEDEY/ref=sr_1_1?hvadid=174249048211&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9013192&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=4422332991940354643&hvtargid=aud-647006051489%3Akwd-208944826600&keywords=qanba+drone&qid=1554995563&s=gateway&sr=8-1

if its your first stick it may a take a few days to get used to, but i personally use the mini when i travel to a friends house and a larger stick at home.

Even if it has a solid build, the price of that thing leaves me dumbfounded, when I've seen other things such as qanba fightsticks which is slightly priced lower, with the pc/ps3 black clip on version sitting at $70, which is the highest I'd probably go. I havent heard of anyone using a fightstick for MK, usually they use it for Street Fighter, King of Fighters, etc etc. I'm getting a white PS3 controller (first dualshock since PS2 days), hopefully I won't be a pad warrior for long lol.

EDIT:

Cheaper Blue Hori Mini

EDIT 2:

God damn this fightstick is sexy, bookmarked

Well yeah just a normal USB xbox controller I use. I think it has to be USB tho, not wireless. Just something like this is fine http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Wired-Controller/dp/B003ZSN600 but I wouldn't buy that exact one because there's probably cheaper

u/Remedy_24 · 3 pointsr/MortalKombat

That's immediately what I thought. However, that isn't the case. This is the klassic fightstick, whereas this is the one that comes with MK9 Tournament edition.

>And we can't really afford it know how to set up ethernet

You literally run one of these (this is max length, you probably don't need something this long)

https://www.amazon.com/UbiGear-4445608-Ethernet-Network-Patch/dp/B00BNL001Y

from your console to your router. That's it. You can use these

https://www.amazon.com/Powerline-Computer-Network-Adapters/b?ie=UTF8&node=1194444

if you don't want to run a cable through your place.

We're talking about the same one correct? Mortal Kombat X Kollector's Import Edition - Xbox One by Warner Home Video - Games http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SXAQV8E/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_pKiavb07B3AKM
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SXAQV8E/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_pKiavb07B3AKM

I have Amazon prime and wouldn't of had to pay for shipping if I got the course edition but this one made me pay for shipping.

Kabal's hook swords (IRL they where used by Shaolin Monks, ironic, huh?) that you can actually buy here; http://www.amazon.com/Chinese-Hook-Swords-Set-Silver/dp/B0019GW0X4
