Advanced D&D (late 70s, early 80s) had psionics as an optional ability (if DM allowed). The skills were only slightly useful for combat situations (like molecular agitation to heat metal) but were fantastic for roleplay and campaign scenarios - like telempathic projection, or dimension walking for traveling vast distances.
In the early 90s, TSR finally put out a sourcebook for Psionics that included a Psionicist class with more combat-ready powers in it. It was pretty awesome, but again, optional.
If you got specific headphones that work for you ModMic makes a great wireless mic I just picked up. Great quality on it and very easy to use. They also have wired versions that are a little less $$$
Not that I have found. I've seen third party keyboards, but they change the ergonomics of the controller, and I don't think they allow for the headset chat adapter, which makes them a non-option for me. Thanks for the idea though!
Specifically found this: http://www.amazon.com/Ortz%C2%AE-Xbox-One-Controller-Keyboard-Bluetooth/dp/B00TGK062W
Well, it's been a campaign setting since at least 1994, so they have a huge amount of lore to draw from. My assumption is they just had their own writers draw from the campaign settings for a basis, and had their own guys make a game of it.

Get the official chatpad. That's what I use. Then you don't have to worry about wires and you are still able to plug a headset in if needed. There are also two programmable buttons at the bottom for whatever your heart desires (I use mine to turn the TV volume up and down). It's also backlit and times put after about 10 seconds of no use.

Buy one of these.
meanwhile, you can immerse yourself in the lore, albeit set in a different time period:

I would recommend HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset for PC & PS4 (HX-HSCS-BK/NA) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L2ZRYVE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_oN9wCb8TM2M6V
It was my right stick that messed up too. You can buy a cheaper brand xbox controller with a cord for like $25, and I've used one. It wasn't the worst experience of my life. The LB/RB buttons were raised which took some getting used to, but it will do in a pinch.
This is the one on Amazon that I got . I'm going to assume you don't have or don't want to spend the money on a new controller, which I totally understand. If you're in the U.S. and have had it less than a year Microsoft would have had to fix it, but of course taking it apart voided that. They just make shit quality controllers.
If you have an xbox 360 controller and a windows 10 (maybe 8 will work too?) computer, you can use it to play xbox one games via streaming. You hook the 360 controller up to the computer, open the xbox app, choose streaming, and now you are using your computer to control the xbox one. I have to imagine there would be more lag than worth doing end-game dungeons, but you can give it a shot and see.
The tabletop explanation is in the recent sourcebook, Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage.
Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage
Apparently, Halaster found a way to >!become "eternally living w/o using lichdom" via tying his life essence into his dungeon, Undermountain. What is not clearly explained, however, is how he survived his "ritual gone wrong" in 1375 (which led to his disappearance/assumed death), unless that very ritual was to "tie himself eternally into Undermountain" -- that's my guess.!<
