All you need is a 3.5mm headset. Almost any 3.5mm headset can be plugged into the controller and should worn. For your budget and situation, I would recommend the [Hyperx Cloud Stinger] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L2ZRYVE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_q5cUCbNZRJJCD).
Hyperx headsets are very comfortable and this one has volume controls on the ear cups and you swing the mic boom up to mute.
Do you mean Discord?
I would recommend HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset for PC & PS4 (HX-HSCS-BK/NA) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L2ZRYVE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_oN9wCb8TM2M6V
I like my HyperX Cloud Stinger set (https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Stinger-Headset-HX-HSCS-BK-NA/dp/B01L2ZRYVE). I'll admit, it isn't the best sound on the planet, but it does well and the features are great. It's comfortable, adjusts well, the mic flips out of the way (and auto-mutes), and the cans rotate 90 degrees so I can pull them back and rest them on my neck/chest easily.
Logitech g430 7.1 vs HyperX Cloud Stinger ? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L2ZRYVE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_aAoLAb4VBBR1P
Thoughts?
I'd definitely get the HyperX Cloud Stinger headset. It's slightly above your price range ($50), but I'd say it's the best value around that price.
It's not $20 but Hyper X Cloud have a model for $50. I have the Cloud II model and I really like them. Worth a little extra I think, if possible.
https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Stinger-Headset-HX-HSCS-BK-NA/dp/B01L2ZRYVE
I'm always gonna reccomend HyperX headsets. I have bought other "gaming" headsets and after I got my first HyperX I seriously will never switch to anything else.
On a budget:

I've owned the stinger, the cloud, and the cloud 2. To be honest I didnt notice much difference between the cloud 1 and 2 except that the mic is a bit clearer since it can noise cancel.
edit: The stinger is a very good headset for the price though, they mostly cut costs on it by removing the metal bits and attaching the microphone. It won't stand up to someone who rages and throws their headsets though (rip my stinger, damn you mary).
I have several headsets and the HyperX Stingers are by far the best bang for the buck. They're better than many that are 2-3x the price.

The HyperX Cloud Stinger is pretty good in my opinion.
Comes with a splitter adapter so you can also connect it to a tower PC.
Costs 50$.
This HyperX is rad. Bought it about 3 months ago, great price and it works really well. In hindsight, I think I’d spend a few more bucks and get something with Bluetooth, but it’s great.

As everyone else has said, HyperX Cloud Stingers are perfect and cheap.
HyperX Cloud Stinger
Steel Series Flux
And this cable
I have both and use them pretty interchangeably. Don't let the price $25 fool you on the Flux. It is an excellent headset (https://www.engadget.com/products/steelseries/flux/scores/).
I mean you got a Lamborghini. I just found these for you, $10 bucks more but well worth it. Get them & let me know. HyperX Cloud Stinger
Edit: Memory foam and 50mm directional drivers for Audio. Worth it.
Here ya go, friend
I have the Hyper X Cloud 2 headset and I love it. But the stinger is a little cheaper, coming in at $50, and should do just as well. HyperX or Turtle Beach are the way to go for gaming headsets, IMO. Or Sennheiser, but those are a tad more expensive.
Thanks for your help! Where would I find your video tutorials provided you plan on doing them in the next little while?
Although I'm being brought on board with the team to help with their regional event with hundreds of entrants, I also want to help them get to a place where their regular streams are professional quality as well. Just a little more background info.
The Samson C-QUE8 is a brilliant idea and I'm going to take a look into that even more. The only unfortunate thing is that the group runs a tight budget so headset upgrades are hard to come by, and I don't plan on chipping in much of my own money until I'm being compensated.
I think they're likely going with these headsets https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Stinger-Headset-HX-HSCS-BK-NA/dp/B01L2ZRYVE (sent the Amazon link as specs are easier to find than on HyperX website) not exactly professional quality, but a step in the right direction from what they're using. I know of a few streams that use these and get quite a nice sound out of them so I gave them the seal of approval.
I like the idea of using separate sources for audio, rather than using the broadcast PC as the source. Makes a lot of sense and I'll bring that up to them.
Quick question, when you say PC Audio of the broadcast computer via USB, I'm having a hard time grasping what you mean. You mean connected via USB straight into OBS, correct?
What board are you running everything on? I'm in the market for something for these guys right now but any recommendations would be great. AV company I work for is trying to jam Presonus gear down my throat but I'm not a huge fan of their small scale boards, haven't played with anything larger so I don't really have an opinion on any of their other stuff.
Thanks so much for your help!
Yes. It has a Ryzen 5 2600 and a GTX 1070 Ti, and with that at its core good components. Even a proper model of the 1070 Ti.
The build is not completely optimal: It misses a HDD (250GB SSD as storage is not enough) and the ram is slow, which is especially bad for a Ryzen processor.
Sadly for the buyer, you can buy the PC for less (with fast ram):

It's not a scam, it is just that the gpu got a lot cheaper, and maybe they paid unnecessarily more for the SSD, psu and board.
Do the peripherals make up for it?
Total: 1059 + 129 + 55 + 40 + 60 = 1343
So if you really want the peripherals and the PC itself work fine and you are okay with not being the original warranty holder (which is not always a problem, depends on the company) then the deal is okayish. Maybe not having to actually build the PC is even a plus in your eyes.
I would get the PC components new, add a HDD, and buy cheaper peripherals. Apart from the gameboard (do you want that?) my suggestions:
Especially for the headset there could be different good options. Also the keyboard can be cheaper when not wanting a mechanical, even that Amazon basic keyboard is good enough to game on it for a few years.
Hyper X makes really good headsets right around that price point -
Hyper X Cloud Stingers - $50
Hyper X Cloud Cores - $60
HyperX cloud stinger is one of the best if not the best budget headset.

This is the HyperX Cloud Stinger. I've heard some pretty great reviews for this pair of gaming headset and it's a steal for the price.
(I like the grills, as long as you can make the rest of your setup as aggressive as your PC)
I have included links to each product below the description for you to use.
For what l would recommend, it depends on your desk. Don't go with a glass desk, go with an IKEA Malm in white.
MALM DESK
You won't be getting a corner/L desk that is also standing. Plus standing desks are extremely expensive.
Then get RGB LEDs to go behind your desk and set them in blue for some aggressive looking accents.
LEDs (there are better ones)
For keyboards, go with the Corsair K65 Lux. It's compact design will keep your footprint on your desk down
K65 LUX
And if we are going with corsair stuff, I use the M65 Pro RGB. I love it a lot, it's a great mouse
M65 Pro
Use an extended mousepad, they are better
one example here
The Hyperx Stingers are cheap with great quality and a mic. They are amazing for the $50 price point.
Stingers
The BOSE Companion 2s are great speakers, but with a pricy. Recommend for casual use, not music production
Bose Companion 2s
I can't recommend any chair. Your chair needs might be different than mine, it depends on the person.
One more suggestion: paint one wall to match the color of the LEDs. It will make your room look/feel better.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. The Cloud Stinger is only 50USD, and fixes your issue with volume.
Budget - 60-80 bucks, MAYBE up to 100/120 if it's really worth it or if I need that to meet all my requirements
Source - I'd realllly like wireless IF POSSIBLE but if not I have a custom built desktop PC so I have headphone slot separate from mic slot or USB 2.0/3.0.
Requirements for Isolation - Doesn't have to be noise canceling I'll just be using it for gaming so whatever is best for that. Also might wearing for music while traveling so if noise canceling doesn't break my budget it would be great to have included.
Preferred Type of Headphone - I'm going for comfort over everything because I don't really like wearing headphones in the first place. So probably full-size. I find that my head/hair and skin around my ears kind of itch after wearing headphones for awhile, same reason I don't wear hats. If the on-ear ones would remove the itchiness I get on the skin and hair around my ears then I might be open to it, but I feel those are more prone to giving me headaches by squeezing my ears.
Preferred tonal balance - Just want balance, a little bit of bass is good for gaming/music and just need to hear friends' voices and game sound well together. Might be using them for travel and listening to music so I would want decent sound quality.
Past headphones - https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Stinger-Headset-HX-HSCS-BK-NA/dp/B01L2ZRYVE/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1499824609&sr=1-1&keywords=HyperX+Cloud+Stinger+Gaming+Headset+for+PC
used these in the past, don't like the mic + headphone combo so I'm going for headphones and a separate mic, these weren't that comfortable and the sound quality was alright
Preferred Music - Will be used for gaming mostly but I might consider wearing them for travel over apple earphones. I listen to EDM mostly so stuff like Porter Robinson, Flume
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQnC1UHBvWA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IqDR2WjVl8
Again will mostly be used for gaming so if improved audio makes it go over $100 then I don't need the upgrade for music listening.
What would you like to improve on from your set-up
Style/Appearance - This can kind of be big for me, I want them to look classy and sleek, not like a skateboarder type colorful headphones. Like a nice shiny silver metal color or matt material gray/black. Examples below;

or you can get the HyperX Clouds for a bit more, but they're definitely worth it. Not made out of plastic.

I'm using the HyperX Cloud Stinger. Very light and comfy, a short wire that plugs into the controller, on headset volume control, and flip up the mic for mute made it perfect for me. Decent price at $50, but I got them on sale during Black Friday for $35.

I would say ... less than $100.
Is there a particular style you are looking for? In Ear? On-Ear? Over-Ear? Other?
The HyperX Stingers appear to be Over the Ear Gaming Headphones currently selling for about $50. For Music though, get Music Headphones. That's my opinion, your money though.

I'm sure there are much better hardware than these but at their price points, they are respectable.
I know this is the same answer on every thread but Hyper X Cloud is gonna be the best. Comfort is top notch, only has 3.5mm so it works on pc, ps4, xbox, and mobile.

Repost, I was a little late asking yesterday.
Wondering if anyone can give me advice on earpad replacement recommendations for MDR-7506. Specifically, I got the HyperX Cloud Stinger for gaming and oh my god they're like wearing sex on my ears. I use my MDR-7506 for music production, and while they're not uncomfortable by any means they're somewhat less comfortable in comparison.
So I'm looking for recommendations on earpads that will work on the 7506 and hopefully make them feel more like the HyperX, if possible.
I got these for Christmas to use on my PC and XB1, so far I'm loving them!

HyperX is the only brand I'd recommend if you absolutely need a headset and not headphones and a standalone mic, these come in at $50 and should be passable for the price.

Kid plays Fortnite on XB1 and uses a HyperX Cloud Stinger headset (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L2ZRYVE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) that frequently and randomly cuts out altogether. No sound and no mic. I plug the headset into a PC but it works 100%. The default Xbox mic works fine with Fortnite. Plug the HyperX headset back in and it will randomly work again. Happens on either controller. Unfortunately haven't tested another game requiring a mic. Is there anyone out there experiencing similar issues?
Personally, these have been solid for me.

These are only $69.99 new.
I don't have experience with the Siberia, but I do know that the Clouds are best regarded for price to performance.
They also have the HyperX Cloud Stinger, which is a newer model for the budget-minded. It's only $50 new.
I'd watch both of these over the next few days, there is sure to be sales on them somewhere for the holidays.
I think this is your best bet. Hits all points.

I'm not sure I've seen any earbuds that have dedicated mic and audio inputs. For that price the HyperX Stinger works well.

Yeah, sounds like there's simply too much cable there. Rule of thumb with electrical shit is that every time you move between two different cables you lose some power. So all those adapters are sucking power out of the setup and your computer is simply not outputting enough power to the microphone channel to get a signal to make the round trip. Microphone signals don't require as much power as speakers because they're mostly passive; speakers have to do the work of making noise, microphones have the work done to them.
What hardware limitations are you dealing with that you couldn't solve with a $20 headset? You've already spent 6x what you need to because you're buying Beats, they're mediocre headphones for audiophile money, and they don't even do what you need them to do...
[This](HyperX Cloud Stinger - Gaming Headset - Comfortable HyperX Signature Memory Foam, Swivel to Mute Noise-Cancellation Microphone, Compatible with PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Mobile Devices https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L2ZRYVE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_VG11Db7426ZQD) is what I just bought because my old headset broke. It's great.
You could also attach [this](Antlion Audio ModMic Attachable Boom Microphone - Noise Cancelling with Mute Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R98JVVU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_MI11Db49A1NPS) to your beats to give them a detachable mic.
Something like [this](USB Sound Card,TechRise USB External Stereo Sound Adapter Splitter Converter with Volume Control for Windows and Mac,Plug & Play No Drivers Needed https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J7P0OGI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_BK11DbDK7NF1H) might help supply more power to your existing mic as well.
Whatever you do, you need to reduce the number of cables you're using.
this one?:

From researching, some good quality headsets that are $50 or less would be the HyperX Cloud Stinger, Skullcandy SLYR, or the Logitech G430
This is the bets review imo http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-gaming-headset/

You do not need a sound card, pretty much all motherboards come with integrated sound. I'd wholeheartedly recommend the hyperx cloud stinger for $50. Here's a link, it has good sound quality and a good mic on it as well for $50.

My birthday is coming up and my parents asked me what I would like. Since I need a new gaming/music headset anyway:
I've read good things about both but get some conflicting reviews when looking on Amazon vs. Newegg. It sounds like the Cloud Revolver is solidly constructed and sounds good but it doesn't appear to have a USB plugin (is this a problem?). The Cloud II does have a USB plugin. My current headset is wireless via a dongle, but all other wired headsets I've used have been through the audio jack so I'm not sure what the difference between USB input vs. audio jack input is. Those two are probably my top choices but I also looked at the regular Cloud and the Cloud Stinger. One last thing: I love my music but I've never had a true audiophile headset/headphones so I'm just looking for something that sounds pretty good without a fantastic soundcard, etc.
The HyperX Cloud Stinger seems to be a great entry-level headset.
Should I get HyperX Cloud Core or HyperX Cloud Stinger? Which mic is better and how good is the sound quality on both? Are they similar enough that I shouldn't pay 20 extra dollars for a cloud core?
EDIT: Or should I get cloud I because it's only about 7 dollars more than cloud cores?

I'm looking for a headset to play games with on my pc (as the previous ones broke). I'm looking at 3 headsets right now and want to know which ones I should get and why, compared to the others? The three choices are Logitech G430 the HyperX Cloud Stinger and the Corsair Gaming Void. Thanks

Headsets aren't the best for music tbh. But I'd have to recommend the Hyper X Cloud Stinger.
The ones that don't end in "set" and instead end in "phones".
...but if you insist then try the HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset
My mic is ass cheeks, im too broke to buy anything better. its literally a xbox microphone lol https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Stinger-Gaming-Headset/dp/B01L2ZRYVE
What about the HyperX Cloud Stinger
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L2ZRYVE/ref=emc_b_5_i
I do believe mine is a HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset w/mic (over-ear). I bought them for $40 back in the fall and I've been loving them. Before them, I had the Microsoft Stereo Headset and loved that as well, but after two plus years of heavy use, the cord finally started to short out on me.

The sound is great and they're super comfy. Sorry if you don't want the mic, I just use them for my PS4 and computer.
this or for less but not sure about the quality drop you can get this
As has already been mentioned, HyperX makes some good headsets but the Clouds aren't in your price range unless you are buying second hand. They do have a $50 headset, but it's not quite as good while still being pretty good.
Othrewise, there are some okay Headsets that are really cheap. Kotion's headsets are cheap but manage to be pretty good for the price. Here is a really cheap USB headset that has a decent microphone and sound okay.

Since you're on a budget, I recommend this:

I can't speak to the quality of what you posted. However I recently bought the Hyper X Cloud Stinger for $50. Look up almost any review. They are comfortable, really good sound quality, and have a decent microphone. I consider them money very well spent in the $50 area.

great cheap headset i have them and they are so fucking good for the price
I own 2 pairs of these headphones, they are fantastic.
I'm linking you trusted and reliable, quality parts. You can find things cheaper than what I'm linking you.
$50 headphones with mic
You can keep your current keyboard and mouse. I'm using a generic dell keyboard and generic dell mouse right now, and I have absolutely no disadvantage in games. If you want it though, $25 cheap KB+M bundle with LEDs
Also remember, you can still use your TV for your PC.
$100 60 FPS 1080p monitor
With what I linked you, you have $325 left to build a PC. Are you buying used or new parts? Building a PC that will outperform a console at this price won't be hard at all with used parts, but it can be a bit of a hunt with new.
/r/buildapcsales
I just want to say this too, even if you spend $800 on a PC it will still be cheaper in the end than console. PC games are always on sale with high cuts. Look up some of your favorite games on ITAD for a price history.
If you still want to build a PC, the PCMR, /r/buildapc, and /r/buildapcforme will be happy to help you!
yeah ive actually changed my mind, i am now deciding between these or these, whats the major difference between the two?
www.amazon.com/HyperX-Stinger-Headset-HX-HSCS-BK-NA/dp/B01L2ZRYVE**/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1491787549&sr=8-1&keywords=HyperX+Cloud+Stinger&linkCode=sl1&ta
I would personally read more into the $50 dollar set and jump on that if everything looks good. They seem to both be backed by Amazon so you can return if there is an issue; also as you said the Atmos is $15 (I think I can tell a difference with it) so you can pick that up and it is still under the $100 price of the second link. Take this with a grain of salt as I didn't read entire description so make sure to review both before pulling the trigger. Sorry I'm not much help, but I'm curious what you decide to go with.
As far as other headset's are concerned I ran with these for about a year so my personal experience is limited (thus no other recommendations since I haven't tried others) and the rig was/is a huge step up from the stinger.
Cloud Stinger: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L2ZRYVE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_NGCYAbC2R457B
Not as fancy as a lot of other headphones in your price range but definitely cheaper. Only thing that may be a deal breaker for you is if you want them to be wireless. Great pair for the price point I'd say. Favorite function on them is the auto mute when you put the mix up. Maybe that's more common than I know of but it's very useful. Been using mine for almost 2 years now, very durable too.
Are they really worth it? How is the mic? I could get another $25 gift card and buy them, I've seen them a ton when looking for good headphones.
This one, right?
HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset for PC, Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, Nintendo Switch (HX-HSCS-BK/NA) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01L2ZRYVE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_V8P3AbPKA8NH0
If that's the case, Try the HyperX Stinger which is one of their newer released lower-priced headsets released around last year. The quality is remarkably similar to the Cloud I hear but man... It's cushion is so comfortable I can game for 10+ hours and not even mind that it's been on my head for that long... My ears don't even get warm.
The mic feature is pretty cool, No mute button. You just drag the mic down and it 'clicks' on and when you flick the mic up it 'clicks' off. I've been using mine continuously on all three platforms every single day ever since it's release date and there's no signs of wear on the cable/jack.
I'd say give it a go if you don't get any other suggestions from people here. I'd recommend something else but Kingston is basically all I know because it's all I've used with good quality.
I've had a bunch of Turtle Beach headsets before this, Wireless & Wired and the cables got fucked in 3 months.
Anyways, Your max budget is $800, so for $50 I'd say you don't have much to lose. The actual cloud is like $90 I believe, So it's about half price of the one you got and are used to.

Hey, welcome to /r/pcmr
I suggest the Kingston HyperX cloud headset i've had mine for 4 years and havent had a single issue, though the white gets a little dirty after i touch it with my hands 10000 times. If you can find a Gen 1 it might be cheaper. However they only sell the 2nd generation these days. It's a Little over your budget at $80 USD. However, you mentioned you might consider spending more to make sure its more Futureproof.

I'm looking to pick up a headset so I don't have to use the single-ear earbud anymore.
Right now I'm between the HyperX Cloud Stinger and the PlayStation Gold Wireless. Has anyone gotten a chance to use either of these that can speak to the quality? What I'm looking for is mostly going to be comfort for long sessions and audio quality. Mic quality isn't the most important factor for me, but that'd be nice to head about as well.
Honestly I'd recommend the HyperX Stinger; https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Stinger-Headset-HX-HSCS-BK-NA/dp/B01L2ZRYVE/ref=pd_lpo_147_bs_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=NZ73QKMKFZY480E87SZV
Not as good as the other headsets in the HyperX line but it's 50 dollars and looks to be a pretty great quality.
These for $80. Hyperx Cloud. The quality supersedes the price. I can't imagine how the higher priced versions sound. I've had mine for 2 months now, I'd recommend them to anyone.
The baby brother for $50. Hyperx Cloud Stinger.
How much you will pay max?
What type of headsets? Covering your ears? Only on top of your ears?
For me, I plan to buy the HyperX Cloud Stinger.

I recently read a review that the core one for PlayStation isn’t as good as the one I got 🤷♀️
I have the cheaper version of those and I love them. I also thought the Stingers looked better but I forgot that I would have to adjust them so they expose the silver metal band when you extend them :( But not really a big deal.
