Warning: this should work, but these things can always be a crapshoot.
I work in pro/live audio, and there's a special piece of kit we tend to use to get rid of the kind of ground hum you're talking about. Typically they're called isolators/isolated transformers/isolated splitters/etc.
One of the most cost effective yet also most impressive variants is this one: https://www.amazon.com/ART-DTI-Transformer-Isolator-Interface/dp/B0009GUOQA
You could just get one 1/8" to 1/4" adapter, or a 1/8" to RCA cable or something, and try running it through this. It's a very versatile little thing. Any input 1 is matched to any output 1. Any output 2 is matched to any output 2. No need to configure or learn anything to use it. Plug and play, as we call it.
Someone will probably have a better solution, but that's how I would go about it. Best of luck!
Hi, My name is Jo and I wrote and published a number of stories in the 1980's called the Boodle Books. Market forces and men in grey suits have ballsed up the release of my stories twice now.
My son Luke who professes to being a bit of a geek said we should re-release the stories following a digital (video) makeover and he has made 5 of the 26 stories since April and has co-produced out first song too, with one of his friends.
He has done all on his ageing Mac using Adobe CC / Premier / After Effects and Character animator what ever that is?
Our target audience are children between the ages of 2 and 10, Parents, Grand Parents, Teaching Professionals, Educationalists, Retro Heads and Nostalgic 80's Hipsters with a sense of humour.

I've used these fairly cheap umbrella lights from amazon, they are a little bit flimsy, but are a great deal for the price, and put out a good amount of bright light. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004TSCARK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_WcGQybTKT1YVG
Blue Snowball iCE Condenser Microphone, Cardioid - White - 1974 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006DIA77E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_pz7PDbEQ0WKEF
That's a mic that some friends and I used for recordings back in the day. It'll be a good place to start! Plus the price has gone down, which is always nice. Good luck!
Yeah, having a small interface can make those mics actually sound really good. For future proofing of better mics, i would recommend these at one point or another. If latency free monitoring is important, Use the first one

You'll want an iphone tripod mount, any will do but this one looks good - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WTOHEBI/ref=cm_sw_r_taa_jajIybWFBN08B
Amazon basics do a cheap and cheery tripod with a spirit level - https://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasics-60-Inch-Lightweight-Tripod-Bag/dp/B005KP473Q
As for lighting, look for something along the lines of this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Voilamart-Professional-Photography-Adjustable-Continuous/dp/B01GFDXME6/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1485344968&sr=1-7&keywords=Studio+lighting
No idea if you're in the UK, but any version of amazon should have similar products.
I love low budget challenges. So much so that I'm thinking of doing several videos about low priced tech on my channel. $40 isn't a bad budget for entry level as You can get something like the CAD U37 which is really good for the price.
Here is an amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AIQGUO
Here is an audio example: https://youtu.be/o5-16CdWmPU?t=1m18s
I think you'll find it difficult to disagree that the quality is good. Everyone also recommends keeping it on the -10db setting for this mic. Anyways, I hope that helps.
HDMI out from PS3's are encrypted, so you need to bypass it through either an analog signal, or by taking two unencrypted digital signals and splicing them to an HDMI.
What I use.
It's a pain in the ass for sure.
Not exactly my stuff, but I'll go through some components:
HDMI to DVI Cable for Video:
https://www.amazon.ca/BlueRigger-Speed-Adapter-Cable-Meters/dp/B004S4R5CK/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1503656207&sr=8-6&keywords=hdmi+to+dvi
DVI is video only, and doesn't have encryption, and it's still a digital signal.
TOSLink Cable for Audio:
https://www.amazon.ca/AmazonBasics-Digital-Optical-Audio-Toslink/dp/B00NH11H38/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1503656242&sr=1-3&keywords=toslink+cable
Because you're going HDMI to DVI, you need audio, and the only other audio output on the PS3 is TOSLINK iirc.
DVI + TOSlink to HDMI Box
https://www.amazon.ca/Monoprice-105369-Digital-Optical-Converter/dp/B0038XNTWW/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1503656326&sr=1-3&keywords=toslink+and+dvi+to+hdmi
Digital video, and Digital Audio get spliced into an unencrypted audio/video HDMI signal. Haven't noticed any lag doing this and I've beaten a good number of games on my PS3.
If you're using an Elgato, you can use the throughput to capture on your PC and view on your TV, or you can get another HDMI Splitter box.
Hope that helps. There's no good easy way to capture PS3 without external stuff unfortunately.
absolutely! wanna sound like a pro? get either this https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Microphones-Condenser-Microphone-Cardioid/dp/B004BR20OM
or this
https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Yeti-USB-Microphone-Silver/dp/B002VA464S/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_267_tr_img_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=DFW4543AVET6JSVCYRG9
i use the latter mic but i highly recommend the spark my dude. the yeti is also very nice. either are standard youtube quality stuff and don't require a mixer!
Hi! For $100 budget I recommend you Logitech Z623 200 Watt Home Speaker System, 2.1 Speaker System (Black) (https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Z623-Speaker-System-Black/dp/B003VAHYTG). It has good reviews and a good price. Have a good day!
Thanks a ton man! I have a question though. The mic I have is supposed to be really good, so do you think the problem is the placement of mic? Thanks for the tips! Did you find any of the video funny by the way?
This was an amazing review and was very professional. I subscribed and will definitely will be watching out for your new content. I have literally nothing bad to say about the video. One cool thing I think might make the video even better would be a rotating turntable to but the products on, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Bluecell-Rotating-Bearings-Monitor-Turntable/dp/B009NPJ0RW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483051945&sr=8-1&keywords=rotating+table Keep up the work
I use the fifine 669b, it was $40 on amazon (canada). You can find my channel in my profile if you'd like to hear example of quality. Personally I'm baffled at how good it is for the price. I doubt you could hear an upgrade from any microphone until you start hitting the $300 range like this one: Rode NT1-A
Commentary. People respond every single time you post a thread saying that commentary is necessary for gaming channels and I know you always respond with "I don't have a mic or money for a mic" but honestly if you can't afford $6 for a lapel mic (it actually comes with 3 in case one goes bad or breaks) you need to reconsider doing Youtube. I'm not trying to be mean it is just something that you can't go through with Youtube without having some sort of personality. There is a reason there aren't any big name Youtubers that don't use commentary and that reason is because no one wants to watch gameplay without some sort of personality. People aren't going to stick around for gameplay because you're a good rocket league player. They're going to stick around because they like YOU and they can't like YOU if you don't show us who you are.
Solid webcam if you don't mind buying Amazon used - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B006A2Q81M/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used
ohh and how do you do that? This is the cam i have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006JH8T3S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use an editor called CyberlinkPower Director 14, so i guess i can add the cam recording to the video there?
Absolutely! Peter McKinnon, until very recently, used a moving blanket to dampen sound.
Here's the one I purchased, it works well. Moving blankets are very thick.
Here's the camera it has been discontinued since I got it camera
