This is my main pipe right now, really liking the shape. It's very comfortable to hold.

I do have a corncob on the way and I'm excited to check that out.
Would love some suggestions on a smaller bowl pipe for a 5 minute smoke. This one is pretty large for a quick smoke during the day but is great for a long relaxing evening smoke.
Thank you so much pal.
At 0.47 sec it is showing the grits I used 120 320 400 2000 7000 grit.
I use rubbing alcohol but anything with high enuff alcohol is fine.
Oh shoot sorry about that my phone ran out of space I'll have to show you guys that and how to do the salt method. The wax I use > https://www.amazon.com/Howard-FW0016-Feed-N-Wax-Conditioner-16-Ounce/dp/B001BKQYGW
If there is anything you'd like to see or know ask me and I'll try to make a video about it or tell you how to do it.
Thank you so much pal will do! 😊👍🏻
I would lose the cake. I have a reamer like this that I can pop in and safely remove excess cake. If you have a local tobacco shop, they'll likely have one you can purchase. I have a pipe shop near me that will do it for me too and polish up the old pipe. On an estate pipe I like to start fresh and build my own cake. After reaming, take a pipe cleaner or two dipped in the alcohol of your choice and run it around the inside of the bowl. I let mine sit for 24 hours to make sure everything's evaporated before trying it out again. :)
HI BIG_BLACK_COFFEE!
My biggest problem with pipe racks is that they tend to be pricey. Lots of people find nice ones at their local antique shops.
I saw a cool leather one recently, but it's $50. http://www.tobacco-pipe-collectors.mybigcommerce.com/sw-leather-6-pipe-stand-brown/
The other option is what I did, based on a suggestion from another redditor: http://i.imgur.com/nIT0M53.jpg
That's available here: http://www.amazon.com/June-Tailor-Mini-Mega-Rack-ll/dp/B000YZCSHE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449935899&sr=8-1&keywords=june+tailor+mini+mega-rack+ll
However, I wouldn't put any really expensive pipes on that. It's secure enough, but not super secure. If it's sitting on a table, I'd feel better about it, but since I hung it on a wall I don't put anything really valuable on it.
I smoke from this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Grabow-Savoy-Smooth-Tobacco-Pipe/dp/B005CC4GX8
I bought mine about 8 years ago from a local pipe/smoke shop. It was about $20-$25 then. I bought this to smoke around the campfire while camping/hunting. I don't smoke it regularly, but it comes with me to poker nights with the guys. In a room of cigarettes and cigars, it makes you feel more distinguished. I just discovered this subreddit after enjoying a nice smoke on my front porch on this cool evening. I hope this helps. It is a fine pipe. No complaints.
If you want to dive in I highly recommend this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Pipesmoking-A-21st-Century-Guide/dp/0931253152
There are also a bunch of guides that explain the differences between types of pipe tobacco.
Welcome to the club!
I just bought a Mr. Brog briar block with a straight stem from Amazon.
Here's a link, but the straight stem is currently not available in briar: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009SYZN7E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_qmlxCbPWC7TWM.
There are no instructions, but I watched several YouTube videos.
Here's the best video I found: https://youtu.be/-K6eSxTywIQ.
Edit: Spelling correction.
These are the most recommended jars to use, and they're inexpensive as well.
There are also smaller sized ones to look at, good when storing small amounts of tobacco, or when traveling.
I got a nice Mr. Brog senior reamer on Amazon for $15
Before i had it a knife worked fine for me though

This is the only book I have about pipes. I love it and have read it cover to cover. It has loads of information about both pipes and tobacco.
Rubber softy bits are your friend 99 cents on amazon

I use straight extra virgin olive oil for the quick clean and shine. When I have it, I use howards feed n wax http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001BKQYGW/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_0Fcvtb0RJFJED and if it's just really needing a shine, I take it to the buffing wheel with some carnauba wax.

Just saved you $20. You don't need the filters if you're doing right. Don't go fast. You'd rather relight than burn your tongue.
Experience level one month.
I mean, I dont see what would need to be tested. But dude, I grabbed some of these half pint guys for something like this and love them!

Ebony is well-known to be toxic. Sandalwood is probably toxic. Both are associated with pipes made for export by fly-by-night firms.
Why would you risk it?
There are lots of affordable options on Amazon made be well-known, trusted brands:
I use these and wrap the flakes around the edges like I'm rolling up a belt.
Usually the mouthwash biotine mouthwash will really help with tongue bite and recovery. It'll also help with the bad tastes.

This one on Amazon is Prime eligible, and also for sale at 4noggins. Any reason I should not buy it?
I couldn’t find it online anywhere, but I bought it new off of Amazon (of all places) and it shipped out of Germany. Seller must have some old stock. Link below:

Because of this, I just bought one on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002SCUO04/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These are them. They're the same diameter and half the height of these.

I've thought about using tape on mine, but I'm not sure if it would impart any taste on the smoke. Some electrical shrink wrap may work. I have heard of people using it on pipe stems in place of rubber bit protectors.

I'll do you one better.
Be very aware that the stem and extension are fairly fragile and the stem broke off in the filter extension a few months after I bought it. I contacted the seller and he sent me two full replacement stem and extension sets. It's a great smoker, but pear wood does burn a bit hotter than briar and this pipe is no exception. I mainly use mine for aromatics.
I just ordered myself an Opinel no. 8 for my ropes. The only thing is since its carbon and not stainless a bit more attention has to be given to it so it doesn't rust up
Right here! Sorry to hear that happened to your pipe :/
Some of my favs:

The Dark Tower
