Huh. I've never looked for one, but you're right. I'm not coming up with anything, even on Amazon. That's saying a lot considering that I can buy a cat butt tissue holder on there.

Just to think outside the box, what about a USB-C to USB-A male adapter to convert the headphones to a USB-A connection, then use some sort of multi-port hub to connect everything.

I'm also pretty sure you can convert the USB-C monitor to plug into an HDMI port.

Yeah, it's a nightmare living the dongle life at the moment, but with USB-C becoming more common, hopefully, it won't be much longer.

I haven't tried it myself, but you might try something like this or even this Microsoft one which looks higher quality.

Besides buying something though, I'd treat it like any other pen. Pocket, backpack, bag/briefcase, or in a notebook/wallet that has space for one.

Sure thing. Though, it wasn't necessarily a correction... tech progresses fast.

And, to address the actual question posed by u/op, you can read (play) a file directly from a USB drive. You'll be able to see it in a file directory just like any other OS, and the native player will play it just fine. I use VLC for a bit more control.

This is the USB drive I have:

Have you checked into Square Trade?

https://www.amazon.com/SquareTrade-Consumer-Electronics-Protection-1000-1249-99/dp/B001N82KS8/ref=sr_1_1?fst=as%3Aoff&qid=1556645891&refinements=p_89%3ASquareTrade&rnid=2528832011&s=pc&sr=1-1

Extended coverage is extremely important for Pixelbooks. If you can't add the coverage now, I would encourage you to consider returning it yourself and then re-purchasing it with additional coverage, or do whatever is needed to end up with proper coverage.

I would also strongly encourage you to return it to Amazon - they are just about the worst vendor for Pixelbooks. Your mom should understand.

I'm not necessarily sure I would recommend this one. I've used two and they're both problematic in different ways. I used the Microsoft Surface keyboard and it was pretty good. I continue to use the Microsoft Surface mouse because I like the feel of it. But I have a small desk and wanted a smaller keyboard. I bought an Anker Ultra-compact and it works well. But to connect it, I need to do some extra steps. First, I have to put it into pairing mode, then go into the settings, not just the Bluetooth menu in the quick settings, and tell it to connect. And, when it goes to sleep, I have to go through all that again. It's annoying, but it's a smaller footprint on my desk and works well when I'm typing a lot because it stays on.

I use this one Plugable Dock every day. Works perfect with my Pixelbook. I use two 24" monitors and the pixelbook screen. One plug and done.

I have been using this for over a year with my macbook and it works just as well with my pixelbook: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0K0DL2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It only handles one monitor, but it has power pass-through (and gig ethernet and 2x USB3), and most dual monitor hubs cost over $200, this one is only $37. Can't go wrong.

This adapter

This controller

Works with any of the GTAs I have (all of them in Play Store -- I'm a sucker for GTA < 4). Also allows you to navigate on the home screen of the Nexus 6p/9 and Pixel phone.

Something like this should work too.

It's sucky that your monitors don't provide power. Most of these kinds of accessories supply power to the laptop for this reason.

My suggestion would be something like this: https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Adapter-Type-C-MacBook-ChromeBook/dp/B01MZ6B2AF

Generally, USB-C devices don't care which port is being used for power, so you could use on of the ports for power and the other is basically a passthrough to one of the monitors. Bonus two USB 3 ports for legacy devices.

It's weird that the thunderbolt one doesn't just pass Usb-C signals. Kinda makes sense since it's very expensive and designed for TB3 devices, but still, TB3 is just a layer on USB-C. It should be able to properly negotiate and pass USB-C packets through.

I have this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MS5UJBK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

also fits my other laptop. the pockets come in handy for usb-c chargers and adapters:)

Pixel book hooked up to a Henge Stone dock. The monitors are two LG 32UD99 and the mechanical keyboard is a white fox.

u/Rastuasi · 1 pointr/PixelBook

I will try once I'm home. I have this monitor and it connects using a sub-3 foot usb c cable. For some reason a longer one can't transmit video...

LG Electronics 42.5" Screen LED-lit Monitor (43UD79-B) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0711MP768/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_FwgNBbGK9AS31

I then use a USB hub to switch keyboard and mouse from main computer at the press of a button. The hub goes into a USB c dock, the standard ones you find ofc.

A few days ago I got a similar USB-C screen in a 15.6" model. This is how big it is compared to the pixelbook: https://imgur.com/a/88Ro4

Due to different aspect ratios the screen is almost the exact same height as the pixelbook. Without measuring it it's only around a quarter inch taller and roughly 2.5 inches wider. With the included cover/stand on the screen is a hair thicker than the pixelbook and it's thinner than the pixelbook if you take the cover off of it, but I wouldn't recommend throwing it in a backpack without the cover. It's also incredibly lightweight.

This is the screen I have if you're interested.

I'm personally actually too lazy to debadge my laptop/car/clothes, but I totally understand the impulse- I highly recommend this book by economist Robin Hansen to get a feeling for the unhealthy relationship we all have with branding and with conspicuously signaling our preferences to others: https://www.amazon.com/Elephant-Brain-Hidden-Motives-Everyday/dp/0190495995
