Good news, you can actually check these on the Z-Wave Alliance's website pretty easily.

What you can do is the following:

  • Go to: http://products.z-wavealliance.org/Search/Index?regionId=2&searchText=repeater
  • Then, it should show you a list of devices that are repeaters (as BreakfastBeerz mentioned below most AC Powered Z-Wave devices are repeaters as well) but you can also find which ones have beaming enabled by checking the conformance statements.
  • For example if you click on Enbrighten's Lightbulb (found here: http://products.z-wavealliance.org/products/2528/embedpics) and then click where it says, "Z-Wave Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement: View" you can view the conformance statement.
  • You'll notice a section about halfway down that says, "Z-Wave Product Information" and the first question is, "Supports Z-Wave Beaming Technology?" -- make sure it says, "Yes"

If you're looking for a plug, our plugs offer beaming technology (Inovelli) and I'd be happy to help you get the locks up and running. However, sometimes with locks it can be tricky as they are encrypted and if they weren't properly configured with the ST HUB, the repeater may not pick them up.

Either way, if you decide to go with us or another company, I'm happy to help.

    Eric (Founder, Inovelli)

PS: Here's our most popular plug w/beaming tech:

Edit: Clearly I am terrible at formatting the response, so sorry if it's hard to read
u/ekzoo85 · 2 pointsr/SmartThings

I don't personally own Kwikset, but if you find a repeater that supports, "beaming" technology it will work since the locks are a FLIRS devices (had to look it up -- frequently listening receiver slave) and are looking for a beaming signal.

The ones I know off the top of my head are the Aeotec 6 Repeater and the Inovelli smart plugs, but that's because I own them both. However, if you go to the Z-Wave Alliance and search for a specific product you're interested in, you can pull up that plug's conformance statement and there will be a section that says, "Supports Beaming". Just make sure it says, "Yes".

What about getting an RF remote for your receiver. It is pretty low tech but it would easily let her lower the volume to a level she can sleep with from her room.

The harmony expansion remote may go through walls.

Harmony Smart Remote Add-on https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LTKGFDQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_e7mQzb8QK43G5

Another option could be Tasker. Like during a certain time of day you get her volume buttons on her phone to be able to control the volume in the Harmony App. Not sure if this is supported but I hear Tasker can do some crazy things.

This is the one that I have from them, which I assume has been deprecated in favor of the one that you’ve linked:

Aeotec by Aeon Labs DSC11 Smart Power Strip Z-Wave Power Sockets
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H3RL6JW/

Thankfully, someone figured it all out for SmartThings (custom device handler) and it works GREAT, with 4 of the 6 sockets controllable and monitored, so I can see if I forgot to turn the den TV off, for example.

>Is it detecting movement during those 10 minutes? If not your sensor may be misplaced, or faulty, or the signal may not be making it to your hub (interference, distance, etc.)

Definitely start there. If it's not that, then I'm wondering if the system is restarting every time it detects motion. As in, the timer keeps getting reset to 10 mins whenever it detects motion. It sounds like it isn't, so it times out after 10 mins, then the system registers it at off and then it looks for motion detection.

If you (OP) continue to have trouble you could try installing one of these. Not the cheapest, but it's a motion detector switch and smart switch in one. So the kitchen light could be controlled entirely motion detector switch (not the smart element which requires going through your hub). But you have the option of using its status through the smart system as needed. I have one in my entry way and it triggers numerous routines in addition to just lighting up the entryway any time someone goes through.

Then you want the Wyze Pan.

I've got 4 Wyze cameras and they are pretty amazing for such an inexpensive device. The devs are also active on /r/wyzecam. They just posted a video today as it's their 1 year anniversary as a company.

And to clarify OPs mention of 14 days of cloud storage. It does not store 24/7 recordings. When motion is detected, it will record 12 seconds of video and store that to the cloud for 14 days. It also has a 5 minute cool down between the cloud recordings. It's not perfect but it's free.

Yes, thats possible.

Basically, you're setting up a rule in Smartthings under the "Smart Lights" smartapp that says, turn on <GE switch> when motion is detected with <motion sensor>.

Alternatively, I would recommend using Lutron motion sensor (https://www.amazon.com/Lutron-Maestro-required-Single-Pole-MS-OPS2-WH/dp/B005WM3ALC). It's just cheaper and does the same thing.

While I do have plenty of GE zwave switches and Hue bulbs throughout my house, I have those Lutron motion switch in my garage, pantry, laundry room, bathrooms, etc.. I dont need those rooms to be smart--just need to turn on when motion is detected.

edit: missed the part that said the switch is inside the house. The first option is best for your use case.

You want either the HomeSeer HSM200 or the EZMultiPli multi-sensor. They're both the same product, but re-badged. I have one in my master bath, and it works great. It reports motion, temperature, luminosity, has a multi-color LED, and functions as a repeater/extender.

u/InternetUser007 · 2 pointsr/SmartThings

This is what I used. And according to CamelCamelCamel, ~$30 is close to the lowest price it has been in several months. I went with Z-wave plus because it is supposed to get longer range (good for the garage) and longer battery life (good for the wallet). For ~$30/door, it is probably more expensive than some other sensors, but they were easy to pair and I haven't had a single issue with them since I got them 1 month ago. They still say 100% battery too, which gives me hope for long battery life.

Replace the timer switch with a Z-Wave switch like this one: https://www.amazon.com/GE-Repeater-Extender-SmartThings-14291/dp/B01M1AHC3R

Then you can set up a timer in the Smart Lighting app so that whenever that switch if physically pressed, it will stay on for a certain amount of time.

Set up a sensor that monitors humidity like this one: https://www.amazon.com/ZOOZ-Z-Wave-Sensor-Temperature-Humidity/dp/B01AKSO80O

You'll also create a separate automation that activates the fan when that sensor reads above a certain humidity, and turns off when the humidity drops back down. That one is a little more complicated to setup, but not impossible.

Harmony Smart Remote Add-on https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LTKGFDQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_plvQzbM9FK3QK

$30, easy to find volume buttons, RF, no hacking required. The Harmony/SmartThings integration doesn't give you volume control as others have mentioned.

If you are going to use a SmartThings Hub you could use a Z-Wave bulb like this:

SYLVANIA SMART+ A19 Full Color + Tunable White LED Bulb, 60W Equivalent, Works with Amazon Alexa and SmartThings, 73693 (Formerly LIGHTIFY) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0197840KQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_TdSNzbFQ85TS5

But it would require you have the hub, and an Ethernet connection.

Something like this would work without a hub (and avoid wifi issues mentioned above):

LE Dimmable A19 E26 LED Light Bulb 6W RGB 16 Colors Remote Controller Included https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007V1VOI8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_NjSNzbZ8ZABDN

u/iheartbrainz · 8 pointsr/SmartThings

GE makes a Z-wave light switch that dims and has a motion sensor. I have one that is strictly on/off for my pantry and it works great.

The remotes are exactly like they are pictured. The Harmony One is an older remote that I don't really use anymore. The other 4 are exactly what you see in the screenshot, one hub and one remote for each.

You can in fact pick up a hub without a remote.

u/tarloch · 2 pointsr/SmartThings

I use this thermostat:

GoControl Thermostat, Z-Wave, Battery-Powered, Works with Alexa

Works great with SmartThings and Google Assistant.

u/Vesha · 1 pointr/SmartThings

I use this Aeotec by Aeon Labs DSC11 Smart Power Strip Z-Wave Power Sockets. It can monitor energy and you can control 4 of the 6 plugs independently if you download the right device handler. Also monitor each plugin power separately.

u/johnnybags · 2 pointsr/SmartThings

I've got this one: https://www.amazon.com/Aeotec-Aeon-Labs-ZW056-Doorbell/dp/B0182XG27Q/

The "chime" is a z-wave siren with an sd card containing 5 audio files. smart things triggers 1-5, the siren plays the corresponding audio

u/mdholgate · 1 pointr/SmartThings

I use a Dome Siren (https://www.amazon.com/Dome-Home-Automation-DMS01-Battery-Powered/dp/B01M1NLPKZ) and a motion sensor on my enclosed porch. When someone walks up to the porch, the overhead lights come on and it sends a pleasant chime sound to the Dome speaker in the house. We are usually aware before they ring the doorbell.

u/Alwayssunnyinarizona · 2 pointsr/SmartThings

They go on sale typically around black Friday or whatever holiday season you might have. Typically down to $50US or so. The one you want is this one: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Harmony-Control-Entertainment-Devices/dp/B00N3RFC4Q. Comes with the hub and a remote.

u/BreakfastBeerz · 5 pointsr/SmartThings

Its still for sale from the SmartThings store https://www.samsung.com/us/smart-home/smartthings/outlets/samsung-smartthings-outlet-2018-gp-u999sjvldaa/

Frankly, though.... I don't know why you'd want to get it when there are dozens of other zigbee outlets on the market for a fraction of the cost. I'm a fan of the Peanut outlets, at $15. https://smile.amazon.com/Securifi-compatible-Remotely-Monitor-Appliances/dp/B00TC9NC82/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Peanut+outlet&qid=1571313801&sr=8-1

You might install a z-wave button that would trigger a disarm routine. It could be hidden somewhere in the garage or, possibly in some type of wall mounted box where you have to enter in a code, whether that be by keypad or some other way, to keep it secure.

https://www.amazon.com/Aeotec-Button-Z-Wave-Control-Trigger/dp/B00PJ88FUA

Or there's a keyfob which could also perform a routine.
https://www.amazon.com/Aeon-Labs-Black-US-AL001/dp/B00M3NKFHA/ref=pd_sim_60_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=4FJXHNQVZDN9S2F9CYSE

As far as a keypad, there are some guides if you search google and youtube, on how to integrate the Iris Keypad into SmartThings to perform arming and disarming and such. https://www.amazon.com/Iris-Smart-Home-Management-3405-L1/dp/B01GCKAFX8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1506713158&sr=8-1&keywords=iris+keypad

A last option, would to also obtain a cheap smartphone, use on wifi, setup a screen lock code, and use the SmartThings app in order to disarm from the garage.

The GoControl GC-TBZ48 retails for $80 (sometimes less) and works perfectly: https://amzn.com/B00ZIRV40K
It can run off batteries if you don't have a 'C' wire but I added a 24V transformer. It is Z-wave repeater if it's running on 24V but not if it's on batteries.

u/Viper999DC · 2 pointsr/SmartThings

As a Canadian, I opted for Dome and Zooz Z-wave products instead. Dome's door sensors pair with ST and work fine out of the box. For the Zooz motion sensors you'll need to get a device handler for the full feature set. But I prefer Z-wave over Zigbee.

Which garage door sensor?

I recently bought the EcoLink sensor (which many vendors rebrand) and it’s worked fairly well.

"Zigbee RGBW Bulb" is the DTH I'm using. Local execution shown as well.

These are the bulbs I have.

Something like the discontinued Leviton VRCS2?

I wasn't able to get it working properly with the Leviton device handlers, but I was able to with the the VRCS4 switch.

u/anoninator · 1 pointr/SmartThings

I'm tempted on something like EZMultiPli but the price is a little higher than I'm willing to spend. Not that it's priced high, just too much for my needs.

u/CaptZ_3148 · 1 pointr/SmartThings

The ones being sold by Amazon actually are still only $20 but are back-ordered. At least for the GE.

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00NOL16K0/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all

u/det_bradlee · 1 pointr/SmartThings

I had the same issues. Since adding this outlet, I've had none. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TC9NC82/

u/iFizzgig · 1 pointr/SmartThings

I believe you can can come figure the Aeon Labs doorbell to do this with a custom app.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0182XG27Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_WvIryb5ASQYAT

u/sct1000 · 1 pointr/SmartThings

This will work fitted into this

And works with standalone zigbee bulbs, a hue hub, or smartthings.
