If you're starting completely from scratch (no programming knowledge at all), then learn Java. Intro to Java Programming is a pretty good and in depth book. Chapters 1-13 should be good enough to get started with Java programming.

If you want something faster or just need a refresher, than the Java tutorials from TutorialsPoint could work.

Other wise, if you already know Java, the BNR Android Programming book is a really good book for Android programming. It covers a lot of topics; the basics all the way to the more advanced, real world applications.

The Android Developers site is incredibly useful as well. The training and API guide sections do a good job at explaining more specific things and some sections include code snippets.

The biggest hurdle for me when I started was just setting everything up. Installing Java and Android studio was a pain because all the hiccups. It's more stable and straight forward to install now though. I'm pretty sure the intro chapter in the BNR book covers installation as well.

I use one of [these](
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0081TXIQA?pc_redir=1411811984&robot_redir=1).
It has a "repeater mode" where it connects to your hotel/whatever WiFi and the rebroadcasts its own network.
It also has a wired lan port and some USB sharing which I don't use.

Bonus feature of any portable router is that once you connect it to whatever hotel you're at, all of your devices will connect quickly/automatically since its your own router and they're already configured to it.

This is nice for me as I road trip and don't usually stay in the same place twice. Some routers can even be flashed with tomato/ddwrt etc... if you're in to that for bridging to a VPN.

There are quite a few models/brands out there with different features such USB key internet sharing, built in battery power and file sharing.

I actually bought the Nabi tablet for both my kids, girls, now age 7 and 5. They have had their tablets since around mid summer 2014.

Very interesting little things. They come with a rubberized "bumper" case. There are two modes, there is Nabi mode, and Mommy/Daddy mode.

  • Nabi mode: is a kid safe mode, they can only play games that you authorize and select while using Mommy/Daddy mode
  • Mommy/Daddy mode: in this mode the tablet is Android 4.4.2.

I find it to be a little sluggish though, but then again, I'm hard to please, lol.

this is the one I use:
http://www.amazon.com/ScanTool-426101-OBDLink-Bluetooth-Interface/dp/B006NZTZLQ

With additional bandwidth capabilities, it allows you to track multiple sensors without having it bog down. Also, the auto shutoff feature is pretty cool.

I use the torque app. the app is great, im just sad that BMW boost pressure sensor on non-diesels is capped at like 3 psi :(

AndroZip is free this week on Amazon. Can't vouch for it but reviews seem ok.

I thought that the modern versions of android have Bluetooth keyboard support built in so any bt kb would work

Edit how about this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00512Z28W/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/187-2428129-8682421

I gotcha. Time to invest in some headphones or a cheap pair of speakers! Either should outplay your phone speakers. You may also be able to grab a Stereo to RCA adapter which would allow you to send your audio output on your computer to the audio inputs on your tv.

I have an S7 Edge. If the cards in your phone, just plug the cable you got with the phone in to the PC USB. I've also got one of these, but you don't need it.

Just plug it straight into the PC with the cable you use to charge it.

Transmitting FM radio takes special hardware that phones don't have. A very few older phones can receive FM radio, but that's it. I highly doubt you can find exactly what you described, but there are alternatives.

There are cigarette lighter Bluetooth radio transmitters, where you can use your phone to connect by Bluetooth, and the device converts Bluetooth to FM radio. You don't need a special app for that. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X9K9X1G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_P-F0AbS877RMS

If your car has an auxiliary audio jack, there are lots of Bluetooth receivers for that, and the sound quality is much better. I've bought 3 of these, for various purposes including my cars: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008XMV05G?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

strange, I have CM7.1 on my myTouch 4G and works fine, though there have been other reports of Google blocking access randomly to a few devices. If you're ok with it, you can get the ad-free version on Amazon for $1

I have a brother printer set up to print via Ethernet on my network. That way Ethernet pcs can print and WiFi devices can print too.

I use the official app to print from my phone. If you have marshmallow you can download the brother plugin and print from any app via that. It's very convenient. Plus its a laser printer which means it's a bit more expensive but it will last and last.

I have the 2270dw model which I got for $110 at the time. This model has off brand timbers available that are only $10 and last for 2-3 months.

Get the larger 1900mAh battery. You can get 4800, but you phone becomes very bulky.

If you know how to; root. Install Titanium Backup and freeze/delete the bloat.

Failing that, root and install stock Android Jellybean or Cyanogenmod.
