> I'm guessing given the single AA battery it doesn't have much oomph, but it really affects the feel of the game.

AA batteries can be quite powerful, you just need to use the right type. Try using an AA Eneloop NiMH battery or an AA Energizer Ultimate Lithium battery. The Eneloops are the more economical ones. I recommend you get these ones:

You can also just make an L shape out of one piece of green fabric. I did so for quite a while, but the quality was low.

Obviously the more you put into it the more you'll get out of it, typically. It depends on your room too. Also your lighting. Lighting is easily the most important thing, other than "having a greenscreen". In fact, the quality of your lighting is often more important than the quality of your greenscreen, to a point.

Basically just put your camera wherever you want it for the optimal angle, and try to cover as much of its field of view with green as possible. That might involve one or two pieces of greenscreen, and it might involve green floor too.

After that, light that shit up real good. You want daylight (5000K+) lights ideally. Don't go any lower than 4000K.

I personally use two of these greenscreen backdrops forming a U shape (I cut one of them in half for the sides of the U), held up by these cargo poles (I use these poles to hold my lighthouses too). I use these green mat pieces for my flooring, and these bar lights for my lighting (one six pack).

For comparison, I originally used one piece of greenscreen fabric, with a single 5000K LED regular house lightbulb and a $20 4000K LED floodlight from Lowes. This is the quality of mixed reality I had. The upgraded setup, as I described above with all the Amazon links, for comparison looks like this. Much better.

If you spend $100 dollars more, you can get an unused original vive.

It is totally worth it to get the vive man. Far superior tracking and room scale is a hoot to experience. There are a huge number of games available now and if you already have a gaming PC, then you are set to go man. That is usually the biggest hurdle for people looking to get into VR. The cost of a VR system + a gaming PC is just too much for most to bare at once.

On PSVR, you don't have access to the huge library of custom songs that the community has built up. Not to mention all the other life-improving mods that are available to the PC players which aren't available to PSVR. The game doesn't automatically generate maps; every mapping you've seen was painstakingly done by hand by one of the many dedicated and talented mappers in the community.

I have had this game since launch and it has turned my gaming computer into a beat saber playing device; I've put over 400 hrs into this damn game lol. I've basically stopped playing other VR games because beat saber is my go to; it never gets old, especially with the constant stream of new content from both the devs and the community.

Great exercise too. I've lost a fairly large amount of weight. I think I was around 200-210 lbs before I started playing a bunch and now I'm down to like 170 lbs, so I lost maybe 30-40 lbs. My resting heart rate has plummeted too, it's crazy. The VR health institute found that players playing the OST songs (the songs that came with the game which are way more tame than the community made stuff) were burning calories at the equivalent rate as someone playing tennis. They did an experiment to get data on the custom songs too and I believe they actually measured oxygen consumption and the whole 9 yards for those tests, but they haven't published it yet. I'm certain that the results are going to be crazy if they ever release the data.

I bought one of these leather-like facial interfaces and have a set of clorox wet wipes that I wipe it down with if other people are playing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MQZVF6K

Works great, and the leather-like material is wayyyyy more comfortable than the dense foam. I feel like it ventilates way better too.

u/xroninbladex · 3 pointsr/beatsaber

Maybe consider getting something like this for parties. Personally, I just remove the foam, wring it under some warm soapy water, and air dry it before a party. Then, during the party, just wipe it down with a disinfectant wipe between uses.

retractable ceiling cable management. under $20. works great. been using with my vive for over a year.

I put some zipties on my cable to make it catch in a specific spot, otherwise, works great out of the box.

On the OG Vive deluxe headstrap, it only take a few minutes to carefully remove the speakers and wires. I use Sennheiser HD555 with a shortened cord, and I absolutely love the quality.

When a mapper takes the time to align the notes with finer details of the music, you can actually hear them! I promise you its not hearing loss, there just is so much depth to modern music that most people never hear.

It cost more but this one has dedicated channels, meaning you don't share bandwidth with other controllers on the same card. This card takes a PCI-e x4 slot i think not a x1 slot. Read up on it! it was recommended long ago for oculus cameras if you have 4 cameras and other usb things.

In Canada its only 100 dollars https://www.amazon.ca/Startech-PEXUSB3S44V-SuperSpeed-Dedicated-Channels/dp/B00HJZEA2S/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=PEXUSB3S44V&qid=1573565524&sr=8-1

I agree. I already ordered new grips which look much lighter, although It doesn't look so cool like Camvate ones. https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Handheld-Stabilizer-Panasonic-Samsung/dp/B01IMRRVKO
It's hard with current heavy grips to swing like a madman as fast as before. But anyway, I don't want to go back for normal controllers. lol

I found these a pretty good investment: ($15 rubber skins for Vive Controllers)

If only for the more common "oops I just smacked something I couldn't see".

I finally figured out an effective solution last night. Requires a sweatband and a fan. But you need to wear it in a specific way.

The sweat band needs to be slightly thick, and you need to wear it just above your brow, such that the top of the rift is resting on the sweatband not directly on your face. This releases the pressure on the lower part of the rift and allows a decent amount of airflow I to the mask from the bottom. Worked so much better than anything else I tried, so many people suggest a sweat band but leave this detail out.

I used something like this folded on itself across my forehead: https://www.amazon.ca/KALILY-6PCS-Headband-Bandana-Multifunctional/dp/B01LBG7AEU/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1539785899&sr=8-8&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=tube+scarf&dpPl=1&dpID=61bfKGp67RL&ref=plSrch

I have those Duracell 2450mAh ones, they're pretty old now so they might not hold their charge as well as before. You can probably get 4 of those and a charger for less than 20 of your local currency.

u/Rukkk · 1 pointr/beatsaber

I had that problem when using a usb pci-e card with only 1 controller, fixed it by getting a card with 2 controllers but it costs a pretty penny. It's this one.

These work really well for me:
AMVR Touch Controller Grip Cover for Oculus Quest or Rift S Anti-Throw Handle Protective Sleeve https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X117LPR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_AKi1DbNY6TFQJ

u/EmpathyJelly · 15 pointsr/beatsaber

Not OP, but I have 2 hooks up in the ceiling like these and then use this kit with it. It works effin great.

u/Influxive · 1 pointr/beatsaber

I have this laptop. GTX 1060, i7.

u/akaWhisp · 2 pointsr/beatsaber

I have replacement masks that I made myself. I bought a few of these, cut out the eye sockets, center/nose bit, and straps. It fits (and sticks to) the headset flawlessly. They are also machine washable.

Other than that, I take the headset off every couple songs to wipe off my face, hands, ears, etc.
