W86 is a great watch for sure.

But my personal favourite for the gym and pool is this one. It has 100m water resist, it's a bit bigger and feels more substantial than the W86 or F-91w.

You said you are new to watches so maybe this next watch is for a few months down the line, but this is my all time favourite. Super durable, solar powered, atomic timekeeping, countdown timer, world time, 200m water resist and (in my opinion) great looking. I love the 168W, it has the same module as the F-91W with a much better backlight and a great retro look. I have a NATO on my main F-91W, and while it was a pain to get on there, it’s much better than the resin band.

I’m sure many standard Casio models do, and I know for a fact that most of the G-SHOCK models do this. The model I have, for example, let’s me have a countdown timer, and on top of that, have it repeat as soon as it’s finished. I use it when working out for 1 minute of intense reps and 1 minute reps back to back for as long as I can.

So yes many do, if you look in the Amazon descriptions or where ever you buy them it should list it as a feature, as “Countdown Timer,” separate from the “Chronograph” or “Alarm” modes.

This is the standard square G-SHOCK, and will last you forever and has the feature you requested.

Yes, there is also the identical G5600E-1, which I think is basically the same features as GWM5610, but without the atomic clock syncing. It has Tough Solar, too. I just ordered one recently, and looking forward to it. It has more features than the standard $40-50 DW5600E, which is what I was considering at first. But I decided to spend a little more to get some more features with solar power, and I didn't want the atomic timekeeping.

Look on youtube for videos of the G5600E to get a better look.

I understand that its not quite what you had in mind but you should be able to put it on the resin strap found on other ae-2000w models, which may fix comfort issues.

I got mine on ebay.

There is only two colorways of that particular watch, the silver and the gold. The silver is not chrome, it's sort of a semi-gloss plated plastic made to resemble metal. The bracelet is steel though and isn't a hair puller. They did get the name wrong but that's Amazon for you. This is the exact same watch with more real to life pictures on the listing and a cheaper price.

I bought this watch last month and figured I'd search for it on reddit to see what people are saying - hence me arriving here. It's the A158WEA-1EF and I got mine here. I'm not 100% sure but I think the 'WEA' or the '1EF' part means a European release of the silver coloured A158. The other silver A158, the one with the busy design, is called A158WA-1.

I'm slightly late, but this is actually the Casio Royale with a strap from another AE1200-type watch - the AE1200WHB-1BV. Sometimes I do wear the steel bracelet it came with, but I prefer the look of the other strap.

I've put a lot of my cloth straps through some serious abuse and never had problems with them getting stinky. Your mileage may vary, of course. It's a great watch either way that will withstand a fair bit of abuse.
