Sounds like a job for an add-a-circuit fuse tap, relay and hardwired into the battery.

Find a fuse that is only powered with the ignition. From there use that as the signal on the relay. Then when the truck turns on, the relay will open and power the plug. Something like the running lights would work.

Supplies you'll want is either a Mini2 blade or micro2 blade fuse tap, depending on what the fuse is. A 12v cigarette lighter plug, and a wiring harness that is long enough to reach the bed from the engine bay. You can also extend it if needed easily. Just dont use the switch, as that will be powered by the fuse tap.

EDIT: I've done something similar except it powers my dashcam. https://imgur.com/a/t95ia

Since it wasnt pulling too much power, I didnt worry about putting a relay in the mix.

I have a 85lb doberman.. and I haul him around in the back using this seat hammock thing... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TF4DHGG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It both protects the seats and basically enlarges the space for them to lay to include the foot wells when you hang it from the front headrests. I'm pretty sure 2 60lb dogs would be just fine.

I don't know how easy it is to install because I had a audio shop do mine but I replaced my front speakers with Kicker 6x9 & tweeters, backs with Kicker 6.5" speakers & installed a Kicker 11HS8 8" hideaway sub under the rear seat. It's all run by the factory head unit with a Alpine KTP-445U 4-channel Power Pack Amplifier & a AudioController LC2i to power everything & even out the sound. Sounds a lot better than the Bose system imo. Here's a couple links to some of the products I used although there's some other similar options made by other manufactures as well. I couldn't stand the regular stock stereo, you can hardly even hear the rear speakers & bass is nonexistent.

I used these to remove hundreds of square feet of decals off my 5th wheel, they are amazing and I wish I found them sooner. Doesn’t hurt the finish at all.

I grabbed one of these thumb ratchet drives to help get the harder to reach screws. It was still a pain, but I was able to get it off without any cutting.

check out this post on coloradofans.

I bought these lights off amazon and these connectors.

If you remove the left tail light there is a wire pigtail there where the OEM bed lights connect to. It is already prewired to the bed light button in the dash. I extended the wiring all the way to the front of the bed and then spliced in two of the connectors (one for left rail one for right rail).

I cut the LED strip in half and wired one on either side. I used Gorrilla double stick mounting tape to mount up under the bed rails.

All in all it took about 2-3 hours.

The AC problem is probably the blower resistor and wiring. It's a common problem in Colorado's around that year. You can buy "Blower Motor Resistor Kit" on Amazon and replace the whole thing.
