Got a few things I'm getting rid of:
Shoes
Wore them a few times, but took care of them. Cleaned them up as best I could. The left tongue has a bit of wear for some reason. Comes with Burgundy/Grey laces. No box though. Not sure about how these run, but I think sizing down a half size might be good.
Biggest issue here is that the left toe box creased awkwardly. Aside from that, they are in very good condition. The leather used on these scratches sorta easy (if you run your nail on it or something, it will leave a mark, though I think they go away, more or less). Laces are waxy. sizing is the same as the previous ones.
Also wore these a few times, and they got indigo on them, but I managed to remove most of it. The leather is this weird cracked kind of leather (now that i think about it, it might be waxed suede or something). Fit TTS.
Tops
($3) Yves Saint-Laurent Button up - good condition.Color is true in the first pic of the album showing the pattern. Bought it secondhand, so I don't know the history of the shirt, but it looks in very good condition. Cool pattern. Missing the second button from one of the cuffs, but the spare buttons are still attached to the bottom of the placket so not a big deal. The listed size for the shirt is 15 1/2. My measurements (in inches) came out to the following: 19.5 shoulders (end of seam to seam), 27 front length, 23 p2p, 22.5 mid-body 24.5 sleeves, 9.5 sleeve width, 7.75 sleeve width at elbow, 4.5 cuff.Worn once. Measurements on the AA site.
Nothing much to say about it, 17" shoulders, 20.5 p2p.
Bottoms
($5) Levi's 537 (slim boot cut) - size 33 - good condition.Altered to be tapered to a 7.5" and a ~30" inseam (iirc, i'll check later to be sure) opening, so they are no longer boot cut. However, they were done weird and curve slightly below the knee. They are in very good condition; no fades, clean dark indigo (pay no mind to that third picture), but they were washed a few times back before mfa.~7.25" leg opening. Indigo. I would say fit is about the same as Levi's 521/508 or 511s. The waist on these is very forgiving (thank the 1% elastane), so you could potentially get a very tight fit if you were to size down enough.
Other
Worn about 6 times. pics

I'll be adding some more stuff later

It's a pretty casual belt, in that it's very thick and hearty. Works great with streetwear/workwear, probably not as well if you're dressing up.
I have it in Sunset Brown and it matches my Amber Iron Rangers perfectly. They go together like they were made for each other. I'm now buying the Natural leather to match better with my Hawthorne Iron Rangers. Yes I own two pairs of IRs because I'm a crazy person.
I think the belt will look great with sperry's.

Ok I was really debating between Obenauf's or sno seal, but I think you convinced me about Obernauf. But which Obenauf's should I use the heavy duty lp http://www.amazon.com/Obenaufs-Heavy-Duty-4oz-Preserves/dp/B003SKCARK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382402091&sr=8-1&keywords=Obenauf%27s
The boot preservative
http://www.amazon.com/Obenaufs-LP-Boot-Preservative-Preserves/dp/B0002X520S/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1382402091&sr=8-2&keywords=Obenauf%27s
Or the silicone water shield
http://www.amazon.com/Obenaufs-Silicone-Water-Shield-Environmentally/dp/B002UBLSO4/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1382402091&sr=8-6&keywords=Obenauf%27s
Or maybe a combination of the heavy duty lp and the silicone water shield? I don't want to spend more money then necessary but before I take my boots out into the world I want to make sure they're properly prepared for the elements. Oh and thanks for the help guys! All of this is very informative and helpful.
Pretty standard MFA answer, but Bass Buckinghams should serve you pretty well for the casual end of the business casual spectrum at a reasonable price.
For more traditional brown leather oxfords, some options that might work well for you are Florsheims, Bostonians, or thrifted/eBay Allen Edmonds as per this guide. Another source that's been easy for me lately has been checking clearance DSW shelves for brands like Mercanti Fiorentini, Johnston & Murphy, or Cole Haan on steep discounts.
Gonna throw out some picks, depending on your style, take and pick what you like, sorry to hear about the flood bruddah.
Picking suiting is pretty standard and easy around these parts so I'm just going to pick casual stuff
Wolverine 1000 mile boots in Rust (Factory Seconds) ≈ $170 Depending on coupon. Grab these quick if you like them, since they rarely re stock this much. Made in America and Chromexcel Leather
Luther's Raw Selvedge Tapered - $115. Made in America
Orion Leather Belt - You Choose ≈ $45 or slightly less with first purchase coupon. Made in America
Levi Classic Trucker in Rigid ≈ $60
White / Black V neck T's of Your Choosing ≈ Varies
Handful of OCBD and Chambray Button Ups- Uniqlo ≈ $25 Per Shirt
Grey Suede Bucks - Bass or Banana Republic for the $60- $100 range or Walk Over brand for $200+ but Goodyear Welt and Made in America
Journey's No Show Socks - So you can wear your bucks and any slip ons with socks but look sockless
Dockers Alpha Khakis - $35 - $40 per Pair
Throw in a couple of merino wool sweaters (or cotton if you're not big on sweaters such as myself) and a thrifted blazer or two and you're ready for pretty much anything.
If you bought all of this you would only have around $300 for suiting, which probably isn't enough, but hopefully I've given you some ideas of what you might like to rebuild. Everything on the list is pretty solid quality and should last, with the exception of the cheaper suede bucks which might fall apart, or might not, who knows
I recently got these boots two weeks ago. I have to say after a brief break-in period of a few days after treating them with Obenauf's and leather lotion they are comfy and the leather has softened well. I've compared the build and leather to my brother's Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots and they are similar enough that you should have one or the other, not both (unless you need another color boot of course). I was deciding between the lighter brown and the cordovan, the reddish brown of the latter looks great and didn't darken or alter after leather treatment.
The sole is by Vibram and I haven't had any slipping issues where I live in NorCal. Replacement of the sole after wear shouldn't be too hard for a cobbler and I plan on caring for these boots for a lifetime.
Sizing wise, I sized a whole size down. I usually wear a 9.5D with my Nike Free Run 2, so I went down to 8.5D. Perfect fit.
I say go for it and pull the trigger, the 30% discount makes the boots worth to try out and return if not satisfied.
If I'm able to ill post pics of them.
EDIT: Had work, took pics before leaving.
Here you go.
Filson is the famed durable fabric briefcase/messenger. I have the 257 and I love it.
Navali has good prices for what they offer but my first weekender from them broke after like 2 uses. However, their customer service is great and I sent it back to be fixed/replaced. Their second one is still working fine but I haven't put it to heavy use since I got it.
Before my Filson, I had this Samsonite that I got from Amazon Warehouse that worked pretty well.
Truth.
My gf bought me these tan Chippewa boots for $89.99 shipped about 3 days ago. Theyre seconds but I'll be using them for work as they tend to look better with the shit beaten out of them.
How about this?
Casio MQ24-1E
I'm not sure if you're looking for something more high-end but that is a pretty nice watch for a very frugal price.
Some other nice Seiko watch :
Seiko
Bulova Dress Watch
Also you can get a band, that completely changes everything about the watch.
Cloudy Sky Leather Watch Band

Thanks everyone for the help. I ended picking this one up. I saw the Kenneth Cole Reaction for under $50, but I just like the look of this one more. Under $90 is a great deal, as online, it seems to sell for a good amount more.
Oh man, MFA is almost information overload, but thanks for pointing me there.
Jackets, I like Filson's Mackinaw Cruiser, Tin Cruiser, and Packer. I think I might just have to bite the bullet and pay for the quality. I know my Grandfather has had one of the Mackinaws for close to 60 years now and it is still in heavy use. I really like the Packer, but it would need a wool insert to be warm enough I think.
For Shoes, I like this from Red Wing, but it is pricey.
I'd say go with the cheap ones. In some things, such as shoes, spending more money can get you a pretty big quality increase. It's true that nice sunglasses are higher quality than cheap ones, but the increase in price doesn't reflect the increase in quality in my experience.
I've had this pair for over half a year now, and besides a lens popping out once (which I was able to snap back in), I haven't had any problems.
And the best thing about cheap sunglasses? You don't have to worry about losing them, dropping them isn't a problem, and you can have multiple different pairs such as in this situation. Just my 2 cents!
I've been eyeballing this messenger bag for some time now. $99, Amazon Prime, good brand, and fits your laptop.
A little over your budget, but Samsonite is obviously a good brand. I'd also recommend searching for "Messenger Bag" in Amazon and looking in the ~$70 range. There are a lot of good bags on there.
5 years alternating between upstate new york and new york city so lots and lots of snow. I might suggest the utility version if you see really heavy snow. My one problem with the boots is that I wore the sole down somewhat and the traction is now lacking. They are waterproof, but they aren't super warm seeing as it's just leather and no insulation. But that's pretty normal for work boots, even the more expensive kind. I recommend you wear them with wool socks if it gets really cold.
Note: They're also more brown than these pictures make them look. They look like this irl. EDIT: That picture is actually of the katadihn engineers boots by ll bean but I'm pretty sure it's literally the same boot + a toe box and it's also manufactured by chippewa.
This is pretty standard pricing for skagen watches on amazon. They're still great though, I have this one and I love how thin it fits on my wrist: http://www.amazon.com/Skagen-433LSL1-Brown-Leather-Watch/dp/B00024CDD6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1395614774&sr=8-2&keywords=skagen+watches
something like this?
edit: I have a pair of Bass oxfords and I'm happy with them. they look nice and feel comfortable. just watch out for rain if you get something in suede
Well these don't take to snow/rain too well. I recommend to get some obenauf's LP to somewhat waterproof it. It won't make it a rain boot but it will make it water resistant.
Clean off salt stains on the thing and you should be fine for light snow and small amounts of rain. Of course, let it dry if you were soaking in some rain/snow. Applying the obenauf's also darkens the leather to make it look more like a darker version beeswax on the desert boot (which is the crepe sole with a slightly darker leather , see here for comparison).
The leather will lighten up over time after applying obenauf and I actually have pictures here of only the after shots with about 3 months of wear after obenaufs LP (I also applied obenauf's oil though so it is actually darker than it should be).
Chippewa is your best bet.
This or This, would be a great all weather boot, rubber sole, rounded toe, and highly durable.
Spend the extra $40, it will be worth the investment in the long run. Had mine about 2 years with F/W wear only.
There is this Maliseet Oxford by Quoddy that's quite beautiful. It's not suede, but it's probably more versatile because of that. It is quite expensive however. You seem to really want a shoe like this and it would get a lot of use since you have many outfits to match... so why not save up and buy a shoe that will last?
Or just go with buckinghams. Also a good idea, though I don't know if they have a blue suede w/ red brick sole.
I was looking to get a messenger bag for my friends birthday. I have purchased the samsonite one from amazon before and had a really good experience with it and its built very well.
Link to one I am considering buying again:
Samsonite Bag
Any recommendations for a messenger bag for a college student?
I would like to but these Chippewa Apache Lace-Up Boots (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004TK2UCI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A2WOPAGVJGO3RL) but I'm a student and the $150 price tag is a little high for me. Does anyone know of somewhere selling them for a better price or an Amazon promo code code that I could use? Are these boots worth the cost?
Docker's Alpha Khakis in frontier brown. I've got a pair, love them, although they're best in the fall.
gone are the days of payless.
If you're walking that much, on a budget, I'd enjoy seeing how much wear and tear you'd put on a some Chippewa Boots or Chippewa Apache The vibram sole lugged or sans lugged should do wonders in regards to comfort and durability.
with the 20% off $100+ Amazon Coupon and it's a solid frugal purchase. Code SPSHOEI4 at checkout may work as well for 20% off.
Throw some sno-seal or Obenauf's and you're set for most all terrains.
Going to take a small gamble here. These are a great deal but I'd honestly rather buy 10 pairs of these: http://www.amazon.com/Polarized-Classic-Wayfarer-Sunglasses-polarized/dp/B009CG871W/ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AC81J8VH6FY97
When you go out a ton the most common thing to lose is your sunglasses. Could be at the beach, at a house party, in a friend's car, at a show, etc. After losing multiple pairs of $150+ sunglasses, I just don't feel that it's worth it anymore.
Additionally, I've seen these wayfarers go as cheap as $3 a pair. That would get you 18 pairs for the same price as the ray-bans. Sure they're not authentic but when was the last time someone came up to you and asked if your sunglasses were? This is frugal male fashion is it not? Get the same look at a fraction of the price.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001QJ69V8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1381431229&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70.
These are the thorogood a that I am talking about.. They use the same Lester as red wings, use a very high quality wedge sole, and prity much only differ from RWs in that they have a synthetic mid-sole... I would probably consider these higher quality than the boots that you linked... Thorogood also has a premium line that goes for $150, but I honestly haven't heard much about them.
Also, something to note is that good leather will darken substantially with use (especially oiled leather)... If you were to water seal either boot it would darken quite a bit... I would check out "frostinhisbones" on tumblr and see what his boots look like... That is simply from wear and sno seal (they are the ones that i linked)
Not sure if all of these are quite what you want, but here are some ideas.
Skagen for under $100
Citizen Eco-Drive for just over $100
Orient, IMO this model is great bang for your buck b/c sapphire crystal is unusual at this price point
Orient with open heart
Automatic Orient
Really cheap Orient
Orient Symphony automatic
Orient Capital quartz watch
1901 oxfords or bass buckinghams? In terms of quality? The bass bucks are cheaper though. (not sure which color i'd get though). However, I have a $40 nordstroms gift card that i could use too.
I've been looking for some casual shoes that i could wear to work (college job...not that formal) but were a step up from sneakers. Hoping this fits the bill.
What colors are generally the most versatile?
I picked up the one with the green face and a leather strap to go with it (not a fan of the canvas). I'm betting the color combo will look pretty sweet.

If you want to send it to me, I'll forward it to you! (seriously though). Also, there are some places that will forward
watchespackages to you. This is what I have, it's a little bit more but I f'ing love it. People hate on Skagen watches because they're apparently not well made and won't last, but I really, REALLY like the look of mine, so I'm okay with it. As long as you know what you're getting into.
This is the watch I have. I love it. It was cheap as far as watches go, and it still looks classy in my opinion.
Here it is on my wrist.
I just want something to wear with a button down. But i think if I do go for I will get the bass ones from Amazon they seem like a good price and quality because I don't really want those hard leather ones. I like these http://www.amazon.com/Bass-BUCKINGHAM-Mens-Buckingham-Oxford/dp/B005PMNDWA
I have three brand new pairs of Golden Fox Boots
They will go for $40 plus shipping. They will be shipped in their original packaging and boxes. PM with questions or for more details.
Sizing info (YMMV):
I wear these in 9.5 with thick wool socks, so they run large. I wear CDBs in 9 with thin socks and 9.5 with normal/ slightly thicker socks. I wear 9.5 in Cole Haan boots with dress socks and they are the best fitting boots I have ever worn. 9.5 in Vans with regular socks if that helps.
The idea seems cool, but yeah I agree with you, rather go for an established brand and for the same price (with sales) this watch is unbeatable.
Another alternative are these $5 ones which have been mentioned here before. Unlike the ones the OP linked to, these don't put a list price of $39.99 to make it look like you're getting a great deal.
Edit: Never owned polarized glasses before so found this video on how to test if it's polarized: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59rfqDcRMgI
Bass Bucks. These are worth it and better than the CK ones. Taupe would be the most versatile out of all of them. I own them in white and really like them.
They regularly come up on sale on Amazon. Currently their as cheap as $14.50/pair (for Large) and have range of options.

I just bought this last month, is holding up well. Full grain leather and from a good luggage brand. Not the most stylish and the buckles arn't the easiest to use. But for the price i believe its good.
The Casio MQ24 series is pretty popular and extremely inexpensive. This is my favorite of the bunch.
This is what I found
http://www.amazon.com/Red-Wing-Heritage-Iron-Ranger/dp/B0032UYNKI
Really nice boots but I guess I'm looking for something very similar with a cheaper price tag. Thanks though!
In b4 knockaround premiums. I got these on amazon and they are ok.
Amazon has dozens of options that are polarized. Ray Bans can be had for $75 as well.

Dockers Alpha in Butterscotch are pretty close. They look shitty on the model but everyone loves Alphas.
http://www.amazon.com/Dockers-Alpha-Khaki-Slim-Tapered-Flat-Front/dp/B004VQ9APK
Two weeks ago Katahdins went for $168. There might be another sale in a couple weeks if you are willing to wait. No guarantee it will be 20% off, though.
You like the Earthkeepers which are chukka boots and a lot different from the Boyd boots you love. The option for these would be Clark Desert Boots. I wouldn't pay regular price, and they can get down to the $80 range pretty regularly.
Options for NOW would be Thorogoods 1 or 2 from Amazon with the 20% off shoe email coupon or Chippewa's.
You can also get Iron Rangers on sale if you wait patiently. They'll never reach your budget though but they are quality. Toe box is a little big.
You can find more options if you search for boots on FMF. This topic comes up regularly so you might find more opinions. I suggested the more frequent ones, though.
http://www.amazon.com/Casio-Mens-MQ24-1E-Analog-Watch/dp/B000GAWSHM/ref=pd_sbs_watch_1 is pretty much the same but an all-black face with gold hands. I got it recently and I've already gotten compliments on it, even though it's a cheap 10 dollar watch
Pretty sure OP was reffering to purchasing Dockers alpha khakis on Amazon
if it's just packed down snowmobile trails you'll be fine, but otherwise you might want to look into something like these

I'm gonna hope this question gets a lot of action and tag along with it, because I'd like to ask #1) what tool should I get to change my straps and #2) should I be buying extra spring-bars (where from and what type?)
This is the watch I bought straps for
I bought this Skagen a few months ago, and I love it. Can't beat the price.
Any suggestions for items to purchase?
I plan on picking up a pair of Bushacres (my first pair of boots!) and need to spend another $100 or so for free shipping to my country.
I was thinking about possibly grabbing another pair of boots, although I'm open to other suggestions!
Chippewa Apache, Thorogoods and these Doc Marten's look good. Although I'm not sure whether they'll be too bulky / big for me.
The exact same belt on Amazon is $44.99 with free shipping. Thats not bad compared to $59
Check out this Casio watch as well.
I actually own that one and wear it with just about everything.
Edit: Just wanted to add that I actually wore it with my blue jeans and black V today...And god damn did it look sexy.
Darn, I was hoping the black one I've been watching would be on sale. This is the blue one.
These are on sale as well.
What about the Timex Easy Readers for $30? Not the greatest watch, but they fit these styles and are half the price.
Bass Brocktons are recommended quite a bit as a cheap, good looking suede shoe. If you have the money, however, go with the Buckingham.
Yep. They're the Alpha Skinny vs. Slim Tapered that we regularly see around here. Fits similar to Levi 510. I recommend sizing up 1 for these actually.
I bought a few pairs of Ex-Officio boxer briefs from REI for about $25/pair in 2006. I still have most of them and they are the most comfortable underwear I own. That comes out to roughly $.01 per day for underwear.
Amazon has them for sale, and depending on your size and color preference, you can get them for less than I paid.

If you want a cheap watch to tide you over, I've heard good things about these.
These? They're pretty pricy..
The Bass Buckingham Perhaps?
Both Are Generally well reviewed on this sub as well.
They're on sale for $200 through amazon right now. Is this too good to be true or legit?

I actually use this as a casual watch. Be aware though it's pretty small.
Check this out, pretty sleek and affordable.
Without looking at the brand, I would've thought this was a Skagen. They make several watches that look very similar. Here's one I just found on Amazon for $65. Decent quality too. I'm sure if you look through more of their stuff you can find other similar models.

GREAT boots, but beware: The color is not exactly as pictured. See my patina album, and on Amazon.
here is another good alternative from Timex.
ALMOST bought one a couple days ago, and Im so glad I read the reviews.
Seiko 5 is a much better option IMO
Said it before, doing it again:
Skagen makes nice things

I really like this one too
Mine were muted brown, definitely closer to this color.
Thorogood boots are about $125 shipped from Amazon.
Golden Fox boots are about $70 shipped from various third party sellers on Amazon.
these
are a little less expensive if that helps
Iron Rangers
would you recommend tan or dark brown for the military green seiko 5?

I don't know about that one, but samsonite leather brief is on sale at amazon.

The link is just a preview of whats available.
Previously, I found a pair of Iron Rangers for $50.
Worth a look if you're in the twin cities area.
$55 on Amazon. Though they were $38 just a few days ago. Prices seem pretty volatile.
As for the mocs, those are the cheapest I've seen. This being the alternative that I know of. :/
Use this occasionally
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003SKCARK
Definitely a little darker right after use- but they lighten back up
If you look around on Amazon, you can get some of them even cheaper, such as: http://www.amazon.com/Casio-MQ24-7E-Classic-Analog-Watch/dp/B00065FWR0/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1370540745&sr=8-7&keywords=casio+classic
The Thorogood is 20% off on Amazon with coupon code SPSHOE14. For a size 10.5 that's only $128, and you have it in 2-days with Prime.
And the 6-inch is even cheaper (obviously).
I own two pairs of authentic New Wayfarers and I recently got a pair of these to wear in situations where I don't want to worry about losing expensive sunglasses.
Amazon
I really like them, they're cheap and they're polarized.
Golden Fox has a number of boots and chukkas.

Not quite the Moc style as the Sperry's but somewhat of a moc toe look. Check these Golden Fox Boots out.

Not sure how versatile black shoes are, I am assuming you are drawn by the color contrasting sole.
I would looking into some Bass Bucks

or something in a longwing

CYBERMON gave you 30% off Chipps and other select boots fulfilled by Amazon, but that was yesterday. Doubt it's still up. I got the lugged apaches yesterday for $100 with the code.

A white faced version is currently listed at 8.99. No prime shipping though.
After leaving behind my Ray-bans in a limo, I said fuck it and bought a 5 dollar pair off of amazon. They look identical, feel decent enough in terms of quality, and are polarized.
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B009CG871W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Edit: Oh, they're $5.50.
Damn, just bought these for $143 less the 25% BOOTSFAM code a few days ago (with the vibram soles)... $112 less 20% is a much better deal! Too bad, it's a different product code at Amazon otherwise I may be able to get some money back.
Ones I bought with the Vibram lugged soles (still showing $143):

I wore these most of the nasty winter days:
http://www.amazon.com/Chippewa-Mens-20080-Chocolate-Apache/dp/B004TK2UG4/ref=sr_1_2?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1396576188&sr=1-2&keywords=chippewa+apache
LL Bean Boots - (signature version, if you like canvas). Go down a full size for medium-weight socks, size and a half for wool socks, which you should have at least three pairs of. Darn Tough has a no bullshit lifetime warranty, so feel comfortable buying their stuff. Weatherproof a pair of Thorogoods if bean boots aren't your bag. Here's a plain toe version.
A vintage navy peacoat is always a safe and timeless option.
Keep an eye out for merino wool beanies, softer than a baby's ass.
When all else fails, an insulated thermos and tea's a good thing to have.
