I think others have mentioned all of the following, but here’s my X100T setup. The thumb grip is a must-have since it makes holding the camera so much easier and more secure. The JCC lens hood is great, and combined with a clear filter means I don’t ever have to worry about a lens cap. The soft release button is nice and adds a bit of flair. And finally, I prefer a wrist strap for this camera, so I made my own (instructions linked below).

I would recommend reading through the manual - it's actually really helpful. Beyond that, I find Rico Pfirstinger's guides for fuji pretty good for explaining settings, weird setting combinations and recommendations on default settings. IMO it's one of the best cheatsheets out there.

  • the lensmate thumb grip (expensive but better than the cheap ones)
  • soft shutter release (get a variety pack to see which you like best, i prefer the concave ones)
  • screen protector
  • a right angle plug for the charger if you don't like the long cord

Domke F-5XB Shoulder/Belt Bag

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009R89L/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it's a smaller shoulder bag, but it's a good size for the camera with a lens, 1 extra zoom (or 2 extra primes) and a couple of batteries.

it's a nice bag for if i'm gonna shoot a party or just to walk around town.

I’ve used one of these kits on my cameras/lenses for a long time and swear by them. The purple ringed one is designed for viewfinders. Works great on my X100F viewfinder for dust with the retractable brush and fingerprints with the dry carbon tip. I usually go brush -> dry carbon -> brush. I’ve never scratched a lens or viewfinder with these and I’ve used them on my $2000 Canon lens without fear.

I've used Hoya filters for over a decade and they've always been great. I specifically have Hoya Pro 1 Digital. You could buy one for each lens, 58mm for the 18-55 and 43mm for the 23/2. Alternatively you could buy one at the largest diameter of the lenses you currently have or plan to have, and buy a step-up ring set to convert it to the diameter of the rest of your lenses.

These are good too. Write speed the the most important metric in these cards.

Very much so. When you set focus on the target, it was very easy to see front and back focusing with various lenses.

If you are shooting wide aperture, you need to have focus nailed. That is why this adjustment exists on pro bodies for each lens. You can set adjustment for near and far focus. With Sigma zooms, you can set near and far focus for one of 4 focal ranges, using their dock.

This is why it is common for DLSR shooters that are photographing a focus critical shot to use live view (i.e. make their camera a mirrorless and focus on the sensor.) Until dual pixel AF of Canon, this really sucked. Like first generation mirrorless AF.

Bought a $10 "Matin" neoprene strap from an actual camera shop(!) The band has clips at the ends, doubling as a hand band when necessary. Maybe this

Cheap or affordable? ;)

I'm a big fan of the Ravelli tripods. Would this be in your price range?

If not, search. They have some great stuff at lower prices.

Try to avoid 'plastic overload' when purchasing tripods.

No problem! Here's an amazon.co.uk link, not sure if it will work for other countries: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00410AKG4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_TtUMBbEJP6S8X

It's a "USA Gear DSLR camera case". Despite it being called DSLR case I think it might be a bit tight fit a lot of DSLRs - it fits the X-T2 with XF18-55 and lens hood perfectly.

Taking a flash off your camera just requires a transmitter and a receiver. You can get very inexpensive ones that work pretty well for under $20. Or even just a flash cable. Then you put the flash on a clip or a stand and put it where you want it and then use as normal. (Be sure to get a transmitter that's made to work with your camera brand, since each flash mount works different)

Obviously taking any of this stuff up a wall will add danger and complexity, and a big diffuser will lower your light output and won't make much of a difference from any meaningful distance (more than 15 feet or so) but from here, you'll have to experiment and see what works for you!

I use the Fotasy FD to Fuji X dummy adapter when I want the 1.5x crop. The Fotasy is great quality both ends lock up tight.

When I want to bring the lens back down to it's normal focal length I use a Roxsen Focal Reducer which applies a 0.71x crop to the image. So if I am adapting a 50mm with the focal reducer we take the 50 x 0.71 x 1.5 for a final focal length of 53.25mm. The Roxsen is good but a little lose on the camera mount.
