PLA isn't a good choice for this since it doesn't yield. It shatters without any warning signs.

I guess it would be a good idea to oversize everything quite a bit to make room for thicker walls.

Edit: I'm not sure why safety concerns always get downvoted on this sub, but there really is quite a lot of force involved and the device might be right next to your face when it violently shatters. Regular PLA is brittle. I'd even recommend wearing glasses/goggles when removing supports, because every once in a while a small sharp piece breaks off and flies in a random direction. PLA is cheap and super easy to print, but it does have its fair share of downsides.

They're amazing if they work for you (so not for knee stuff, just for foot stuff).

Adjustable wrenches have some perfectly valid uses. Holding the backside nut of a bolt your are tightening, for example - nice low torque use case. Also great for certain uses in bicycle repair (gripping freewheel removal tools and such).

The problem comes in that there's lots of jobs they are NOT suitable for.

If you want to go all out you can get the wadsworth set. We use these to get into tight spaces taking apart stamping dies. You can put a pipe on it. I think it can take like 400lbs of torque. They are awesome.

Epoxy. I had some extra PC-7 sitting around, this stuff bonds anything and everything.

Edit: looks like this doesn’t bond well to polyethylene so ymmv. Worked for me

Edit 2: scratch that. A bit of extra force and the adhesive popped off. Threw on a couple wood screws and hoping that’ll be the end of it.

You can just replace the outlet cover with one that both stays waterproof even when something is plugged in and has a spot for a padlock to keep it secure and prevent it from being unplugged.

Sure! I used two microphone gooseneck arms screwed together (each has one male and one female end). The thread size is non-standard, so to attach it to a base, I found it easier to adapt it to 3/8"-16 using one of these. I clamped the printed assembly onto the end through a 1/8" thick aluminum plate using two nuts.

I uploaded the .stl files to thingiverse as well.

Just thinking out loud here, but I fully understand your point about not taking the easy road at all. I believe you might be right here, full chords are the way to go.

Version 2.0 should have a "C" shape with the opening facing down. In this "C" shape you would slide a mini legal pad and use it to write notes like, "Kevin, you're the reason I wear headphones."

If you can find surgical scalpels, they work amazingly... Just easily slice around the edges, then you can get a metal spatula in there.

They make pencils with spring-loaded lead, which makes the lead much less likely to break.

I sanded until my thumb bled.

Then I hit it with high fill primer:

Then I hit it with the texture spray linked above.

Then I gave it a couple of coats of "Trim Black":

The texture spray really hides a lot of the imperfections
