Tried the Logitech it was the worst.

Tried the Apple keyboard, offered to little protection, likely caused my 10.5 pad to bend around smart connector (Apple wouldn’t say for sure but they replaced it for free) and Smart Keyboard offered no pencil holder. It was also super floppy and didn’t really work well while on my lap.

Husband bought a Zagg for his 9.7 and finally they came out with a case and keyboard for the 10.5.

The 8 colored back lighting, keys that compress like my MacBook Pro, the rugged case (which will protect from further bending), the long battery life on the keyboard (had it for 2 months and haven’t had to charge once), the magnetic connect that holds more secured than the floppy Smart Keyboard AND the pencil holder— make the Zagg the winner for me!

(Recently it was on sale for $70 and I was able to buy it for $49 months back).

can’t recommend enough.

I got a 64GB iPad Pro 11 around Memorial day (there was a sale on it for like $650). Having had it now for about 3 months now, I haven't run into storage issues yet. I do have PUBG installed, but not Fortnight or GTA.

I do have a terabyte external SSD and a RAVPower Wifi Hub which allows iPad access to the external 1TB via wifi and app even on iOS12.

I think at the 64GB storage level, iPad Pro becomes more like a chromebook than a laptop replacement - an access device for cloud services like Dropbox or googleDrive. On the other hand, I've had laptops with 1TB of storage - and still you run out of space and have to rely on external storage. I think the question with internal storage is when that happens - more storage you have, later that happens, but it does happen to everyone at some point.

For doing "productive" things like word processing, PDF review/annotation, managing calendars and todos, 64GB seems like plenty of space.

If I had to do it over, I still wouldn't pay for more storage on the iPad, but I would pay for more storage on my iPhone - since that has a secondary function as a photo/video camera and that does eat up a ton of storage fast.

On a typical family trip, we take an ancient GoPro 4 Silver, 4 iPhones, and a Sony NEX6 - the dedicated cameras being old devices that don't take 4K videos or high megapixel photos, and still end up with about 80-100gigs of phots and video footage. If speed/reliability of getting FilmicPro footage out of iPhones into a PC via iTunes is any indication, iPad Pro doesn't seem like a good device to aggregate these photos, regardless of internal storage.

IMO, the cost difference for additional internal storage (and LTE connectivity) on the iPad pro is better spent on the Pencil, a nice keyboard and cloud/external storage. Office365 comes with a terabyte of OneDrive storage if I recall correctly - that seems sufficient. I guess the minimum amount of internal storage depends on how one uses the iPad (and it may very well be 256, not 64GB for you), but I personally don't go on a ton of flights (and sleep mostly when I do, or watch in-flight entertainment), mostly review PDFs and use GoodNotes for some note taking - for these uses, for me, 64GB has been enough.

I use my Smart Keyboard cover as my daily driver but got this stand up folio case to use on the plane. It’s pretty much exactly the same as the Apple Smart Folio cover but only cost $20. Highly recommend it.

As far as accessories go, I definitely recommend the Apple Pencil. I personally didn't go with the smart keyboard - instead, I opted for a foldable bluetooth keyboard. Others swear by the Apple Keyboard, but I just couldn't afford it.

I've heard amazing things about the Zugu Muse Case, but I personally got the Ztotop Case.

I wound up going with the 11" iPad Pro because it felt better? I recommend going to an Apple Store/Best Buy/Costco/etc., and just handling both devices IRL. I thought I wanted the 12.9", but after holding it for a while, it felt too big.

My spouse uses the Zugu Muse case (https://www.zugucase.com/the-muse-case-for-2018-ipad-pro-12-9-in-3rd-gen/) for his. He’s also an artist. And, he uses a matte “paper type” screen protector - though we don’t use the “Paperlike” brand. We found a similar brand on Amazon with better reviews. You get two of them for $9.95. Might be a decent one to try with less investment than the Paperlike brand. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GZKL8WH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also, usually Amazon has the Zugu case with free Prime shipping which might end up cheaper/faster arrival than direct from Zugu. He’s not had any issues with his screen protector pulling up. In fact, I’d also say that the edges are almost held down, if anything. Full protection, magnetic pencil charging, pencil travel pouch built into the case, 8 or so angles w/strong magnetic foot, auto off/on, easy to open cover w/ the tab, perfect cutouts. No affiliation w/the company. Just really enjoyed it ourselves.

I got this one and I love it! It has a slot on the front for the pencil, or it’s still able to stick to the side to charge when the case is folded up. The keyboard is fantastic. It’s magnetic to the case to basically if you don’t want to use the keyboard, you can just detach it and not take it with you. The whole case itself also looks for professional. 10/10 would recommend. Plus it’s cheap!

There are a couple of ways you can go... I think the best option for me has been using a filehub like the Ravpower Filehub. That allows me to connect either SD cards or an external hard drive. It will also give you more freedom on where to place the files. I can chose the camera roll or an actual file.

Put some thought into how you eventually want to organize your photos. I also have a lot of photos and am moving to an all mobile work flow. The IPad photos app sucks for organization IMO. What I eventually went with is keeping all my archive files in my Amazon photos cloud account. My current workflow is to review the files on the filehub before uploading and do an initial cull. Then I upload only the ones I intend to edit to the IPAD. I edit the files and upload the edited files to my Icloud albums and then delete all the files off my Ipad. My Ipad only has photos I am actively editing on it... I keep my raw files on portable hard drive and my finished work on my Icloud.

It’s just plastic, but I’ve been happy with this one: MAX SMART Tablet Drawing Stand,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FYO0KJC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

u/CleatusFetus · 1 pointr/iPadPro

I’d get the TomToc sleeve thing https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KHJOXOM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_M6CNDbG263SHH) from amazon

I had it and loved it, however I’d also check if the Apple Leather Sleeve is still on sale at Target, got mine brand new for $30 and LOVE IT! But for $130 it might not be worth it for you

u/Bribase · 5 pointsr/iPadPro

I would recommend the ELECOM over the Paperlike. The paperlike feels more like writing on fine cartridge paper resting on glass while the elecom is more like heavier drawing paper. IMO, the Paperlike just isn't paper-like enough. And it's more expensive. Perhaps the Paperlike 2 is going make some meaningful changes?

u/jdidom45 · 1 pointr/iPadPro

I picked up the Tomtoc 11-inch Tablet Sleeve because I needed something so I could pack the iPad Pro 11 in a bag for work. It has a pocket for the pencil and a cable. Have a bigger version from Tomtoc for my Surface Pro, the quality is really nice for the price.

Edit: I have the Apple Smart Folio (not the keyboard cover) on the iPad and it fits perfectly

Not OP, but I’d recommend this protector for pencil usage — great for handwriting

Have this and it fits the iPad Pro 11 with ASK and pencil 2 magnetically attached. It’s fantastic.

u/kenman345 · 2 pointsr/iPadPro

I️ think you’re asking about something like this?

That’s the one I️ use with a Smart Cover or whatever the $40 ones Apple sells are. I️ love it, don’t make it too thick or anything and does a good job. No regrets

Turning off "tap to wake" solved my standby battery woes. The pencil still takes a little juice but it's negligible now.

I have this case by Supcase. Like an otterbox defender, but better and cheaper.

I got the Inateck and its surprisingly durable and gives good typing action. Mostly I like it because when I use it at night, the keyboard breathes and rotates between several hundred different color schemes. Looks pretty sick.

I can answer a few q's:

  1. 64GB should be fine unless you are planning to download a bunch of movies, music or photos.

  2. I have the smart keyboard with a poetic case(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073S2V1PL/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I suggest having a back case in the event it slips out of your hands. As for the smart keyboard, I want to try something different as it is designed only to be on a desk/table. Its had to use when in your lap or bed. It kinda sucks not having the keys backlit either.

  3. I am running mines w/o one and have no issues. I just carry a micro fiber around to clean the smudges
u/paper_boxes · 3 pointsr/iPadPro

Read about issues with the PaperLike (surface texture wearing off etc), so I got this https://www.amazon.com/Elecom-Paper-Feel-Anti-Fingerprint-Anti-Scratch-Bubble-Free/dp/B07KZHVTD6 and seems to work pretty well!

I'm using this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PSQ94NU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It fits my 11 inch perfectly with plenty of room for other stuff (Bose QC35s, keyboard, stand, etc.)

I have the "MAX SMART Tablet Drawing Stand for Digital Graphic Tablet" from Amazon. I got it for my 10.5 and still use it for the new 12.9.

It's $20 on Az. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FYO0KJC/

u/cjfb · 1 pointr/iPadPro

I rarely have issues with the lack of backlit keys, as if I were using it in a dark room (bedroom) the iPad is probably too bright to use anyway without waking up wife.

I was concerned about lack of pencil storage, bought a stick on pencil holder from amazon: ZUGU CASE Apple Pencil 1 & 2 Holder Sticker - Peel N Stick Elastic Stylus Pocket (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y57C5Y4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_10a0DbV092GNM

It’s worked great for a month and a half of heavy daily use.

u/ExiledBesmircher · 3 pointsr/iPadPro

I’m using an Apple Smart Keyboard, and I store my iPad Pro in a TomToc sleeve. It fits the iPad, keyboard, and pencil without having to take anything apart, and the protection is top notch.

u/nomosecrets · 6 pointsr/iPadPro

I’ve been trying to find an inexpensive yet portable way to have add a keyboard to my iPad Pro. Here’s the iPad case I bought. Like it so far. It’s slim but not necessarily light.
