  1. I'd go with the 256, I'm at 61 gigs and I don't feel like I have a ton of stuff on it. I've had the iPad Pro since the new ones came out this summer if that gives you any idea of how much junk I could have put on it (almost all of it is college stuff.)

  2. I wouldn't wait. The new iPad Pro has been a game changer for me since the summer semester (philosophy undergrad). I still love real books, there's something to be said for holding an actual book in your hands and highlighting it and taking notes in the margins, but for taking in-class notes and notes on articles and PDFs I can't imagine going back to the way I used to do it. Even the notes I take on real books make their way to my iPad.

  3. Since you already have a laptop I wouldn't recommend the keyboard at all. I have one that I carry with me (Logitech K811) and I rarely use it unless I'm at the library. It's just not as convenient in class with small desks and whatnot. The Apple pencil feels thin and slippery to me so I use this and put it in this. I also love fountain pens, so it's a nice little case for a few pens, my head phones, and charger.

  4. I use a screen protector, it makes the Apple Pencil feel more like it's writing on paper - a little bit of feedback against it's normal smoothness. Plus I have a little peace of mind in case of accidents.

  5. I use this case and I just throw it into my satchel/laptop bag/manbag and I feel totally comfortable that it's protected.

With lots of paper readings/highlights may I recommend LiquidText. The annotations on that app are amazing. I use Notability for just about everything else.

Got this for $4.99 back in December. Supports up to 100W PD and is a 5A cable which allow for rapid charging or certain devices that allow it. Also, one end is angled at 90 degrees which is super convenient.

I use this one and love it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PIMIUPW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_AutDAbRZJKTT7. Dedicated home button, tons of battery life, pretty good feedback for typing. I don’t know about the multitasking thing.

AmazonBasics 13 Inch Felt Macbook Laptop Sleeve Case - Light Grey https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013TGFJW0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_4EwFDb0YRTJB1

I’m using this sleeve right now to carry my iPad Pro 11 with a case on and my Apple wireless keyboard along with charger and pencil. Everything fits super nicely and the felt really protects everything.

I just got a new stand today, works much better -

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DD7G77L

It doesn't cover the pencil charging strip and also gets the iPad a little higher than the one I noted above. Very heavy duty - they have to be to be able to support something like the 12.9 Pro, and sturdy. A light unit doesn't work well - I know as I have a couple of them. This one doesn't use clamps, the iPad sits in the holder. It's also cheaper, $24.99. I like this one.

I'm using this Visconti leather messenger bag for my 12.9 (in an Otterbox case). It holds the iPP and all the accessories I need, as well as other supplies. I wanted something that didn't look like a briefcase, computer case or backpack. This fits the bill nicely: it looks good, ages well and provides all the protection I need.

EDIT: It also holds my foldable Bluetooth keyboard.

tomtoc 10.5-11 Inch Tablet Shoulder Bag for 11" New iPad Pro 2018 | 10.5" New iPad Air 2019 / iPad Pro | 9.7” iPad | 10" Microsoft Surface Go | Samsung Galaxy Tablet, Fit Apple Pencil & Smart Keyboard https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CC423ZL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dAqXCbYNGEVTR

Have this and it fits the iPad Pro 11 with ASK and pencil 2 magnetically attached. It’s fantastic.

I'm not sure about a case with a kickstand but, I recently gotone of these after I saw a YouTube drawing on an iPad with it. I've got a big Pad & Quill book case and that thing accommodates it pretty well.

I picked up a 13" AmazonBasics sleeve. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013TGFTDY/

It's a bit bigger than it needs to be, but has a front pocket where I stash the pencil and a cleaning cloth. Back pockets are good for dongles/adapters. And it's only $12.

u/Chorizbro · 2 pointsr/iPadPro

I have not used anything like that. It looks kind of cool, but the extra time needed to extract the iPad from the sleeve, fold the sleeve, and mount the iPad would drive me nuts.

I settled on this:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KLHP36T

And I do like it quite a bit in use. (A clone is available for $10 less, sorry but I lost that link... It is on Amazon somewhere.)

The choice of protection is very personal though. I hope you find what you are looking for.

u/ExiledBesmircher · 3 pointsr/iPadPro

I’m using an Apple Smart Keyboard, and I store my iPad Pro in a TomToc sleeve. It fits the iPad, keyboard, and pencil without having to take anything apart, and the protection is top notch.

> I’d also like to mention that sometimes I like to use the large iPad in portrait mode with the Canopy, and you have to be very careful when you do that. It invariably either causes the keyboard to break free of the grippers that hold it, or the buckle to snap free.

I like the quality of the Canopy but i went with Fintie’s solution instead even though i hate pleather, http://www.fintie.com/ https://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Carrying-Apple-Keyboard-MLA22LL/dp/B01K780TN2

I use a 12.9” iPad Pro as well and the Fintie case holds the keyboard with a snap-in section rather than adhesive. The keyboard does not get dislodged by my iPad.

> The only other pain point worth mentioning is the awkward way Apple forces you to connect and disconnect the keyboard through Bluetooth.

Why don’t you just turn off the keyboard when traveling? It’ll reconnect instantly when you turn it on

Just about any bluetooth remote control will pair with your iPad. Here's an example

No, but I have used this one.
