  1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but on a keto diet we don't have muscle glyogen right? I'll research this if you don't know either

  2. Im curious as to why poly/mono fats? I consume I'd honestly say about 75% saturated and the poly/mono comes in small amounts from oils , chia seeds, hemp seeds & other misc things.

What's the deal with these? Can you site a reference or explain to me like im 5? :O
    Thanks in advance

As far as advice BTHI : Myprotein.com ( #1 usa wholsaler I believe or close to it ) , is a fantastic source and I buy anything I need through them ( which isnt much tbh ; creatine , BCAAs, misc things like gallon hydrators etc.

As far as multivitamin - This one is ranked third on labdoor and the fact it contains an immense amount of herbs, mushrooms , and every mineral / vitamin your body needs for optimal performance ; I have been using this brand for over a year now and 110% recommend it. If you look at the ingredients they are good quality and just an amazing fucking array of awesome things if you read through everything : D !

I take 1/2 of a pill daily on non lifting days , 1 whole pill on lifting days pestle and mortered and mixed into my food. ( always take multi w/ food cuz fat soluble vitamins need fats to bind to )

Heres the link , I ordered it when it was on sale for 13$ but unfortunately the price has gone up but here you go

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009F3RO2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

    Here if you have questions

PS. Good form at the gym during exercises is absolutely crucial too , and stretching is very good post workout to remove stress/toxins too. I have a saying , if you use it, stretch it ; and the harder you train, the harder you must learn to relax through breathing exercises , yoga / stretch variations , BOTH cold / hot showers for inflammation , proper diet , good sleep etc. ( the best thing I've found is a breathing exercise where you belly breathe for about 30 seconds, then hold your breathe until you feel the urge to let go, go a tad longer and SLOWLY release the breathe & let your muscles / body relax. If you try this you will LITERALLY feel the good chemicals being rushed into your body, it's absolutely amazing : ) ))

I started the gym over a year ago @ 120 pounds ( how much of that was actually lean muscle is debatable ) but now I am 140 with about 5-10% body fat , 6 pack, chisled chin ( i judge myself on how chisled my chin is lol X_x ) as this pertains to both your testosterone levels and body fat %.

I have been keto for 4 months now although I do have a yogurt , honey , and a berry smoothie with coconut water and stuffz post workout to help shuttle the upcoming fat / protein loaded meal into growth. I have about 100-150g of carbs at this time.

I only work out twice a week ( if your curious I can give my routine ) , full body , feel amazing & because I practice IF + only spend 4 hours a week at the gym I have plently of time to do research , projects and anyting else really.

I also rollerblade because it's fucking amazing.

Anyways , guna go eat my dessert ( heavy cream , chia seeds , cocoa powder and chocolate stevia ! ) Check out sweet drops for an amazing all natural stevia product . Giant eagle / heinens around here sells them . Absolutely fantastic )

    Cheers broski!

I saw a recipe that uses pork rinds as a “batter”, I’ve never tried it but it’s a neat idea for keto fried chicken. Outside of that, it’s the only real use of pork rinds on keto in my opinion... it’s not exactly a solid source of nutrition and even the packaging says not a significant source of protein (at the last bag I had said it in the nutrition facts).

I get downvoted every time I say it, but while saturated fats have always been blown way out of proportion, in my opinion it still may not be wise for you to get say 90% of your calorie intake from saturated fats, especially if you are of a certain genetic variation (I’ll have to look into exactly what that is), and I’m not entirely informed on the longevity affects of a high saturated fat diet, even in the context of a very low carb diet. Avocados, natural peanut butter from the machine at Kroger, macadamia nuts, EV olive oil - MUFAs are my primary fat source with around 35 grams (+/- 10 grams) coming from saturated fats. Olive oil in everything. I’ll make tuna with boiled eggs, mayo, mustard, a tbsp of EVOO and pink salt/pepper/paprika, pretty much daily lunch. Sometimes it’s chicken instead of tuna. I don’t shy away from beef at all, but I still limit it to 2-3 times a week, because I’m also eating salmon 2-3 times a week.

I also regularly make a smoothie that is for sure not that keto because of the higher carb content, but on days I have it - it’s the only carbohydrates I have... kale, spinach, avocado, Garden of Life Raw Meal (the vanilla chai or chocolate flavor), hydrolyzed collagen, that fresh Kroger peanut butter, a half cup or so blueberries, about 2 cups water or almond milk if that’s your thing, ice, blend that baby up. You get use to the texture.

These are just things I do, but there are multiple ways to skin this keto cat. For the record, I’m a male, 28yo I stand between 5’10 - 5’11 and started at 240 and weighed in this morning at 174, last did my tape measurements and my body fat was at 27%... still on the path

Good luck to you!

This book has been great for me
I was ready, but really needed a little bit of guidance, what you're saying sounds familiar. It's absolutely worth the $15 bucks with 2 day shipping. Took me 2 days to read it, easy to get through and funny.

Now I can walk into a gym and have a plan.

If you're regularly running a sub-30 5k, you'll be fine to step up the distance. I'd recommend Run Less, Run Faster; with paces programmed from your best 5k time, 3 x runs per week (fartlek, tempo, long) and 3 x cross training days, I found it the perfect way to train for longer distances.

I normally only use them to smooth out the "keto flu" feelings when I'm entering ketosis. They do a great job of smoothing that out.

A biochemist friend recommended KetoCaNa. You can buy them on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/KetoSports-KetoCaNa-Supplement-Physical-Performance/dp/B00U7R7194/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1536162577&sr=8-3&keywords=ketocana

Tastes like an orange pre-workout drink. I don't mind it at all.

I've been using this one on subscribe and save which makes it $0.50 for a daily serving. Although I did find this one which seems higher quality, albeit more expensive. If anyone can recommend a better green powder that's not too expensive, I'd be willing to try it.

Hey, I was going through the same thing. My solution that has been partially stated is nu-salt for potassium, Seasonello for sodium and iodine (It's sea salt with iodine), and Ultima Replenisher for the magnesium(It's just a pure electrolyte blend with 100mg of magnesium per serving). I use these because I cycle from water fasting to a keto during the week and all my electrolytes suffer unless you replenish them. I hope this helps and I highly recommend cycling water fasting and keto since fasting puts your body into ketosis. I watched an incredible video albeit a little long on water fasting by Dorian Wilson. (https://youtu.be/DghrZNUP5vo) GL with the diet.

This one works for me! I've heard great things about this drink, but I prefer the pills to just get it over with haha.

> 30+ year shelf life

About 29.98 more years that I need! LOL

> ease of cooking, and variety of flavors

Still, aren't the competing non-keto products about half the price?

Maybe I'll get over the sticker shock someday. Thanks for the link.

u/Mister_Cupcake · 2 pointsr/ketogains

Their collagen hydrolysate doesn't get thick and is more like a protein powder. I think it's a lot better than gelatin in bp coffee.

u/bst82551 · 2 pointsr/ketogains

I tried their perform powder. It tastes awful, but it gave me a tiny bit more energy. I don't know about the other products, but perform wasn't worth it for me.

Concerning greens powder, I drink this one. It has 2 net carbs instead of 1, but it also has a lot more in it like probiotics and it's only half the price.

I like Lyteline you add the drops to water and it tastes like a squeeze of lemon!

I am lucky to have one at my gym. You can get much cheaper TANITA models at Amazon. I had this one when I lived in the US: http://www.amazon.com/Tanita-BF679W-Scale-Monitor-Water/dp/B0009V1YPK

u/Nocturnus_Stefanus · 1 pointr/ketogains

I'm not sure either. But I think it might be worth it for you to buy some pee strips so you know for sure!

100 strips for $11: pee here

Get a scale, like I did, such as these:

u/chewymidget · 1 pointr/ketogains

I wouldn't recommend using straps unless you are doing some insane amount of weight. They will hurt you in the long run if you rely on them. Doing something like this would be better in order to get your forearm strength up. Though you can make your own stick with rope for cheaper.

I eat a lot of "snacks" as meals, so these are my ideas for chow on the go without a fridge:

  • Almonds

  • Celery

  • Raw Broccoli

  • Peanut Butter

  • Quest Bars

  • ElectroMix (to keep those electrolytes in check)

  • Bacon

  • Hunters Sausage or any low carb jerky

  • Romaine lettuce wrapped meat & cheese sandwiches

  • Cream Cheese wrapped in salami (you can freeze these overnight, then throw them into the cooler and they should defrost by when you want to eat them)

  • Egg muffins (again, you can freeze overnight & they thaw)

  • Coconut oil in coffee. I use something like this or you could use a mason jar to be able to shake the coffee/oil to keep it from separating. If you drink it in the morning, you can use heavy cream too so you don't have to refrigerate it.

What I'm talking about is slightly different

But to each his/her own! What were your issues with MCT Oil?

u/StrictlyLogic · 2 pointsr/ketogains

My stack

Salt Pills
Magnesium

And I forget which brand but I think Bulk Supplements Potassium

u/swozey · 7 pointsr/ketogains

I've got a jar of NOW Potassium Chloride. It's 10% of daily potassium (365mg) and yells at you multiple times to not take more than 3 servings.

Tastes fine except for when I forget I've put it in my water glass, go for a drink expecting water and it's warm saltish water. ugh.

Wow I hadn't heard that before and it is a possibility. I completely changed how I run after I read running on air about belly breathing and alternating your breath cadence.

http://www.amazon.com/Runners-World-Running-Air-Revolutionary/dp/1609619196

You take big breaths through both your mouth and nose to belly breath and then alternate when you take a breath. It keeps your core stronger and has really cut down on my joint and back pain when I run.

I took almost three minutes off my 5k time just switching to that breathing style once I had the technique down.

I bit it does make me swallow some air though. I will have to see what I can do about that. No way I am going to stop using the breathing technique it is so much better then before.

All of the necessary vitamins are available in animal products and in fact more bioavailable in them.

I am familiar with Brock's diet/story. The (LIBERAL! jk, i consider myself liberal or at least progressive) media may tell us that Brock got diverticulitis because he didn't eat his veggies. They also tell us that we should be eating 7 servings of grains a day and 5 servings of fruit. I was diagnosed with intestinal issues when I was on a diet high in veggies. Since I cut them out no problems.

Vegetables are not necessary for a healthy diet. They can be an effective antidote/medicine if you are eating other stuff that you shouldn't be eating. And fiber is only necessary if you are constantly plugging yourself up with constipating foods.

This. But if you want to add protein, add this while it's blending. Drink it fast and lift hard, it's gross cold.
