For $150 I would get one of the modular buildings. My favorite currently available one is the Grand Emporium (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Grand-Emporium-10211) but the Fire Brigade (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Fire-Brigade-10197) is the oldest one so it might be a good idea to pick one up before it is discontinued.
If you're into Star Wars the Ultimate Collectors Series B-Wing is on sale right now for about $150 on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Dailego-B-Wing-Fighter-10227/dp/B009OJGLR4/ref=sr_1_10?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1371520022&sr=1-10&keywords=lego)
Another one of my favorites is the Kingdoms Joust set (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Kingdoms-Joust-10223). It goes really well with the Medieval Market Village which is unfortunately discontinued but you can still get it for about $150. (http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Castle-Medieval-Market-Village/dp/B001USHRCK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371520318&sr=8-1&keywords=medieval+market+village) $150 is almost twice the original MSRP but it is still a good value as you get around 1600 pieces.
If you are into architecture you might want to consider one of the larger Architecture sets such as Imperial Hotel (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Imperial-Hotel-21017) or Fallingwater (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Fallingwater-21005). I don't have either one of these but I do have the Robie House (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Robie-House-21010) which was a thoroughly enjoyable build.
There are also some fun train sets for less than $150 like the Horizon Express (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Horizon-Express-10233) and the Passenger Train (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Passenger-Train-7938). The Horizon Express is a very detailed model but it has no track or train motors. The Passenger Train is a much simpler build but it has track and a motor so it is more like a traditional model train set. Of course you can get a motor and track for the horizon express but you will have to buy those separately.
Hope this helps.
I've seen a lot of cool vertical/horizontal mounts for the UCS Millenium Falcon, but I didn't want to mess around with them. It turns out that this wall shelf is a perfect fit! The shelf fits all 7 of the feet, and is far enough away from the wall to provide good clearance. I mounted it to a stud and it handles the weight of the Falcon just fine.
I just started again with legos too! I'm 25 and unfortunately, had given all my legos away when I was younger. My best advice is to keep an eye on sales both here and on other subreddits/sites. They will alert you to great deals to get the most bang for your buck. The avg price per piece I buy is around 6-7 cents. I buy from actual retailers when available. Or sealed boxes from ebay.
I don't really advise buying bulk bags in pounds on ebay since many times they are mixed in with megablox or something of the sort.
For older sets you might want to relive, I strongly advise bricklink.com. Those sellers are more trustworthy since it is more populated by the brick community.
For your house idea, the current deals that pop in mind is 31025 Mountain Hut on Amazon for $30. 550 pcs for $30 comes out to about 5.4 cents/piece.
Toys R Us right now is having a 20% off Star Wars, City, and Princess sets plus a '$5 off $25'. Link
For cars, this is a great time since the Speed Champions series just came out and you can get some model racing cars for about $15!
Other than that, keep your eyes peeled!
The Special Features are as follows:
MSRP for the "Everything Is Awesome" collectors edition is $60, but I strongly recommend preordering it from Amazon instead, as it's priced at $39.99 on there.
Off the top of my head, I think older builders / adults would enjoy the following two:
It all depends on where your interests are. I own a decent-sized library of LEGO books (even a lot of the kid's books) that range from the company itself to coffee table-style art books.
For magazines, I really recommend BrickJournal.

STOP BUYING CANNED AIR!! But something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Metro-Vacuum-ED500-500-Watt-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW
I use mine on everything, especially the few large builds I keep for display. I also use it on the internals of my gaming rig. Had it for 2 years now and it still works great, definitely more cost effective than canned air in the long run.
I have both the 9493 and the 8088 and I preferred the 9493. I thought the build was more interesting including the mechanism to make the wings open and close. And I love the minifigs in the orange jumpsuits from the original trilogy and you get Jek Porkins.
Maybe invest in small drawers like these?
http://www.amazon.com/Stack-On-DS-27-Drawer-Storage-Cabinet/dp/B000Z5HY40/ref=pd_sim_hi_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=0B3HAXS4M6MP319T6K4W
I'm using 4 at the moment with some larger totes for bigger pieces.
I also separate out any parts I know I will never or rarely use in MOCs. These are in small zip lock bags in another tote.
I guess it really all depends on how much you think your collection will grow. Do you need to leave room for expansion? Have another plan in place for new sets you won't disassemble or brake apart for parts?
Good luck!
That must be it! He has that book on his Kindle, borrowed from our library's eBook collection.
Thank you! :)
Edit: since /u/Lego_Nabii is too nice to turn this into a shameless plug, I'll do it for him
Yeah, I don't understand why they cheaped out on the limo. I have the other limousine set #3222 http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-City-3222-Helicopter-Limousine/dp/B0039OEBI6 and it would have been nice if they did a version of that.
The Lego Creator Fire Brigade Set comes with a really cool fire truck http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002O064J0/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?qid=1415658786&sr=8-9&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70 and I would think Lego would include a vehicle of comparable quality.
The Scorpion hood ornament was a last minute add since I didn't have anything else to go there but the scorpion works.
Thanks for the compliments.
or buy one of these http://www.amazon.com/Metro-Vacuum-ED500-500-Watt-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1347896774&sr=8-8&keywords=dust+vac
i bought one ages back to clean my PC out with, works must better than the cans and is inifinite provided you have power LOL.
Badass Lego guns? I have a modified version of the gun from Forbidden Lego, but that sounds awesome!

Forbidden Lego.
Ok good, that is what I was leaning toward. I'll be taking them all apart later today. I'm also thinking about getting some sort of container with small drawers for storage, something like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00019JP8S/ref=mp_s_a_28?pi=75x65&qid=1346178804&sr=8-28
if you are interested in doing more. My friends have this book
http://www.amazon.com/dp/1593272847
I want your Sopwith Camel. Don't care if it's open because I'll build and display it. Message me a (reasonable) price. :)
Side note, for pricing, you can use this as a guide since I can pick one up brand new with my Amazon Prime account for $166: http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-4657499-Creator-Sopwith-Camel/dp/B007QIJW2Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422553145&sr=8-1&keywords=LEGO+10226. Looks like they are selling on eBay for an average of $120-150.
My storage system consists of a combination of Stack-On Drawers for most of my plates and tile pieces, plus around ~200 Take-Out Containers in several different sizes for most of my other bricks. Additionally I have larger tupperware or plastic bins for any pieces where the amount is too large for the take out containers. I sort by both piece size and color grouping, so the containers work really well and are reasonably cheap. For small unique pieces, I have them in tiny plastic bead bags which you can find at any craft goods store. I then combine a bunch of the bags into plastic containers.
Since I really only build Ancient history type stuff, anything that I know I will never use are just stored in large zip lock bags and then in plastic bins, such as tires, steering wheels, airplane parts, etc. I also have 4 tool compartment storage chests for minifigures.
For me, Lego organization is an on-going process that is constantly refined and updated. I will buy more bins, or boxes to even further separate things. When I initially started like 4 years ago all I had were about 300 storage baggies, and a dozen or so shoe boxes or large plastic totes.
Best way to do it would probably be inkjet sticker paper like this.
There's also inkjet decal paper (waterslide transfer) like this but I find it harder to work with and it's also a lot more expensive.
I got it for $60, amazon is the cheapest and you can sometimes get free shipping. Ends up being $57.
Edit: http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Star-Wars-X-Wing-Starfighter/dp/B005VPRG3S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334112784&sr=8-1
Another redditor bought this wall unit for his UCS Millennium Falcon and it looks really good. I'm about to buy one for my Falcon but I'd wager this would work well for you situation too.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EGI7V4/ref=s9_simh_gw_g23_i1_r?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=09EDZVW5SA9KY8MGCAMA&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=5d23eaf6-6278-49c1-b6df-7de0cb9b3a26&pf_rd_i=desktop
For those asking, I believe the drawers are these.
If they are, I have a question for OP: How do you feel about the fact that there aren't individual lids or coverings for each drawer? I've bought a couple and I like them, but if I need to move the entire set I feel like everything can just dump out too easily.
Sell it, buy the Fire Brigade, wait for the price on it to get over $1,000, sell it, and then buy a Camel and a bunch of other sets. Profit?
My setup is also based on Akro-Mils drawers and Sterlite drawers and they work great. For other items where I have a lot of a single color, I also use these takeout containers (cheap and very sturdy for the price) http://amzn.com/B00M9Z4SXY . They can be stacked on each other and are clear, so you can see what's inside.
Quick tip: instead of ordering the Akro-Mils drawer dividers separately, just cut index cards down to size. The dividers end up costing almost $1 each, which is crazy for a square piece of plastic, and considering it would cost $40-50 to divide each drawer in the unit, it doesn't make sense when the entire unit is only $27)
Here's what I use, and I find it really helpful:
http://www.amazon.com/10744-44-Drawer-Hardware-Craft-Cabinet/dp/B00019JP8S
Yeah, these actually came from my DeLorean. :) I use HQ glossy sticker paper for mine, specifically https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VKV2H4/ though I'm sure that others are great too. I used to use the standard matte sticker paper but they just ended up looking dull.
If you can use a laser printer instead of an inkjet I would highly recommend it. Things just come out a lot crisper. I used inkjet on these stickers because my latest job doesn't have a color laser printer for me to abuse. You can see on my General Lee (http://imgur.com/a/Ttruk) how nice the laser printed stickers are.
I always print a few of the same sticker on a sticker page just in case I mess up cutting or applying one. Oh and whatever you do, wait a good while after you print before you try applying the stickers!
You mentioned Red Baron. In that vein - though without knowing your budget - the Sopwith Camel is available now. I own it, and I highly recommend it.
There's also a paper airplane launcher in Forbidden Lego that works really well with a few modifications.
amazon.com. Believe it or not it's the MOST HELPFUL CRITICAL REVIEW.
Here is the Amazon preorder link for the US. The article has the UK link.
You can buy the book from Amazon (and other places too).

Lego Birds is on sale from Amazon. Apparently they didn't sell well. I recently got mine and put it together with my wife. She thought they were a bit small for our display so we built color matched stands from 2x4 bricks for each bird to raise them up.

Here it is, but it seems to have gone up $2 since I bought it.
I actually have one of these suspended from my ceiling via fishing line.
