You just have to jump in and do stuff. Using it as your primary OS or always for a particular task (e.g. always use it for internet browsing) is a good way to become familiar with a linux desktop environment.

As for the command, whenever you want to:

You might have better luck with physical converter from one of your dvi-i outputs down to VGA and then a converter for VGA to S-video.

Something like this to convert digital to analogue, and also something like this to get your TV output.

No idea about linux working with this seeing the TV resolution or anything at all really might have to manually set it. No driver ready fixes I could find. Good Luck though :)

I recently got this Monoprice tablet via Amazon ($40: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H4LAF9O) to make lecture videos. It works really well on Mint 17.3 with at least Krita and Pinta. I would expect it to work with Gimp as well. I didn't have to install any special drivers - it just worked out of the box.

If you plug it in before starting Krita, it will do a nice job with the pressure-sensitivity.

I had a few issues with 3Com cards not working at gigabit speeds, so I bought an Intel PRO/1000 GT and it worked perfectly without any troubles.

But ACTUALLY!!! - i prefer to have a bluetooth mouse. to free up the usb port on my laptop.

So if you recommend a bluetooth mouse, i am open ears.

As a general starting point for linux in general, this is usually a good starting point, especially for the linux geek who might not have a structured education in Systems Administration. It also includes some tips that might be helpful should you wish to try to get a job in the area

Quote"I already have a usb extension cable running like 6 feet away from me towards the direction of the router " This may be the problem, make sure you have a high quality USB3 cable. I like these

TeckNet Classic... Less than $10, comfortable size, non-proprietary (1x AA) battery, zero issues on Linux.

Unless you're doing twitch-style gaming, I see zero reason to spend a lot of money on a mouse. Or if you're into the RGB thing, I guess...

Late reply, but if you google the chipset code (CSR8510) on the thinkpenguin.com site for the 60$ usb dongle, you can find dongles on newegg and amazon for 10$ with the same chipset.

This one looks identical to the one on thinkpeguin site, but 8$ : http://www.amazon.com/Importer520-Bluetooth-Adapter-Chipset-Windows/dp/B00CG94OW8

Cool. I'm in the UK and the router I have problems with (only on some laptops) is a Virgin cable modem/wifi box. I got one of these which connects fine to the cable modem and my laptop connects to it every single time.

I have been using this with Lenovo Yoga 13 and Mint 18, it sticks out a little bit more than I would like but it works. no setup

just my opinion on this - pay $15 or so and get a USB wifi that works in both Linux and Windows. Less time spent on a frustrating issue - wifi on Linux.
