Wow, that video is great. Pretty much sums it up.

Check out this book by a guy from Madison, "The Fox" as the Germans called him.

A patio ceiling fan works the best. I use the 99$ vornado floor fan works great. Pricey but I am a big fan.

Do some research before you go shopping.

Sleep Like the Dead is a really good review/research site. They cut across all brands in their reviews and they explain why certain beds are certain ways. For example it's really hard to comparison shop mattresses because manufacturers tend to make specific models only for specific stores. The insides may be exceptionally similar, but it's difficult to tell that at the stores and sales people aren't great about sharing that info.

I spent most of my life on a traditional innerspring mattress but recently (like a month ago) switched to one of the bed in a box foam mattress and I'm loving it. My hip and lower back pain has dramatically decreased and the price was sooo much better.

This is the mattress I got from Amazon. Slightly lower rated then the Caspers/Leesas of the world, but also a lot cheaper. I didn't want to invest a ton if I wasn't sure about the whole foam mattress thing.

I already had a box spring from my old bed that was still in good shape, so I didn't get a new one, but if I had, I'd probably go with something like a platform bed. There are really simple ones like this one that'll get the job done and let you have plenty of room for storage underneath. You can also get some that have drawers built in for storage which is handy.

Then, depending on your style, you could add a headboard to any frame.

If you're starting out, I recommend this guy. It's a great beginner guitar and around your price point. Jasmine S35 Acoustic Guitar, Natural by Jasmine http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002F58TG/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_meAstb0B2W04A

I've not found a shop that offers what you are looking for. After searching I eventually picked up my own loose leaf setup and tried to find a nice quality chai.

Upon ordering many different variants, I believe this may be the closest to what you are looking for -

Vahdam

I ordered that a few times and enjoyed it. However, I kept trying different options and my personal favorite is -

Frontier Co-op

Frontier has a bit more bite to it, though not from pepper. I can't exactly quantify it, but it is a spicier chai. Even spicier than the Vahdam above.

It also helps that the Frontier option is more affordable. Normally I order 1 Lb and it lasts a few months.

Edit - Corrected the Frontier Co-op link

Mississippian here. The winter was a shock when I first moved here three years ago, but here are a few things that helped me adjust:

  1. the right equipment - Winter isn't nearly so bad when you're equipped for it. Buy a good winter coat, hat, and gloves. You'll need an ice scraper for your vehicle, and HEET is a fuel additive that makes it start more easily.
  2. the right attitude - Winters are cold here, but the surprise for me is how dark they are. Lots of gray days in a row can be depressing. You'll want to make the effort to stay active and connected, and avoid cocooning yourself. You're in luck, though. There are tons of events, Meetup groups, and outdoor sports to participate in.

Bike repair and maintenance is pretty easy.

https://www.amazon.com/Bicycling-Complete-Bicycle-Maintenance-Repair/dp/160529487X

That book will tell you all you need to know.

Bike repair shops charge that much, because people quit learning how to do it, so they can get away with it.

You guys got a nice back-and-forth going here, but I'd just like to interject with a book recommendation on the history of police: Rise of the Warrior Cop: The Militarization of America's Police Forces by Radley Balko (https://www.amazon.com/Rise-Warrior-Cop-Militarization-Americas/dp/1610394577).

It's a well researched and footnoted book - the author explains that police as we know them are a surprisingly recent development. Mostly affirming the info in the links shared by u/Gilgong0. What I found interesting is 1) we as people only started having police when people started living close to strangers in larger cities (because before that your family and church members just shamed you and/or physically dealt with you if needed) and 2) there is not technically a constitutional basis for police (but no one is making a serious argument they shouldn't exist)

On our older cars, I've always changed my oil myself; I use a pair of plastic car ramps to make it easy. I bought them locally for around $30 maybe ten years ago. It costs around $2.50 for an oil filter and roughly $8 to $10 for four quarts of oil (sometimes you can get oil for $1 per quart if you watch sales at Menards).

The idea is to simply drive your car up onto the ramps, get underneath, remove the filter and oil plug, drain the old oil into a pan, pour that into a milk jug for recycling, replace the oil plug and put the new filter on, and pour in new oil. It takes maybe ten minutes; a bit longer if it's cold since the oil drains more slowly.

On our new car, however, our service contract includes six years of oil changes, so I just have it done at the dealership for free....

Agree with others than building inspection or similar needs to be called ASAP. I see no reason in 2019, with overnight shipping coast-to-coast, that it takes 2 months to fix an HVAC system. I absolutely hate the "well we're waiting on parts" excuse.... it's just another term for "we're too cheap to pay for shipping" or "parts aren't really the problem, we just don't care"

But if you're looking for a "today" heating solution so you can sleep, you can get small space heaters like this for $20 at Wal Mart, Fleet Farm, Target, Farm and Fleet, or similar. They have a thermostat on them and will automatically turn on and off as needed. https://www.amazon.com/CCC-COMFORT-ZONE-CZ40-Comfort/dp/B00103PSE4

... My natural gas furnace is fully functional but I keep one of these in my office so I can do spot heat without cranking the whole house temp up.

I have this one. According to Tracktor I just lucked out when I got it for $60, it usually hovers around $85 apparently.

Edit: I forgot to mention this in my previous posts, but after your "introductory price" goes away, wait a month or two and call them up saying it's too expensive and that you'll have to cancel. They'll transfer you to someone and you can usually get another introductory price for a few more months.

Apply for rent abatement right away and call the building inspector to schedule a complaint inspection. This is the fastest way to light a fire under your landlord's ass. You should absolutely request multiple SAFE space heaters and reimbursement for utility bills. They make space heaters with thermostats built in that can be left on when you're not at home.

Source: am landlord. Had this exact issue two years ago and was all over it, but it takes time. Try to be a little understanding. Furnace repairs aren't always easy to diagnose or find contractors for. They (hopefully) aren't doing this to you on purpose.
