Dude, thank you so much! For a sec, I was afraid I might not be able to pull those felled seams on the sleeves off, but fuck if I was going to give up. It must have been a hilarious spectacle if anyone was there to witness though.

I'll check out that book you recommended. I've seen this one mentioned a lot, so that's on my radar as well.

The Singer does have variable speed, thank god. She's a little touchy and usually needs a gentle hand-crank with the pedal down to get going, otherwise you end up putting the pedal down too far and she stitches at lightspeed. I think that's down to belt slippage. But I kind of love quirks like that. They're what make things special :)

I picked up this 50mm 1.8 lens for my Nikon. I grabbed a refurbished D3200 about two months ago (college budget, whooo). It's actually kinda funny - my camera doesn't have an onboard AF motor, but to pick up a lens was $100 more expensive to buy one w/ the lens-based AF motor... so I just bought the cheaper one and have been manual-focus bumblefucking my way through life.

It's a little tricky sometimes but also kind of interesting and fun? Shrug. Photography is like a tertiary hobby for me, after clothes and writing. I've gotten better since taking the 877 pics, I promise.

I'm trying to recall what books I have that would be the best for this. I think this would be a solid source if you don't already have it Tokugawa Ideology: Early Constructs, 1570-1680

This Boston University Research Guide has some potentially good information, specifically which books to look at.

Hope this helps!

Well I mentioned the idea of "inspiration books" a couple GD's ago. I ended up ordering Aaron Draplin's book and then this book too. I'm pretty excited.

Other than that I've got a bit of sewing to finish up, a counseling appointment, and then going to my dads for a day late Father's Day celebration.

What's everyone else up to?

Congrats man! Also if you're being very budget tight, go for The Koss Porta Pros. The best deal in headphones, easily. They make look funky, but they sure have the sound to back it up. Those reviews don't lie.

Thanks, when i clicked the link amazon recommended this also, anyone check it out? a hardcover for the price of a magazine seems worth it.

There are plenty of patternamking text books out there, and one is probably as good as another...the problem is that you can only get a basic block by patterning from a book and after that you'll need to know how to adjust your pattern to fit like modern jeans...a pattern drafted by following a book will fit like a tent. This is the textbook I used in college...pretty spendy for something that will only get you part way there, especially since you only need the 5-10 page jeans section.(switch to paperback and look at the used prices, waaaay better)

I'd suggest taking a patterning class at your local community college or see if your local fabric store knows who offers them.

Amazon. The buttons do look very cool, but they're pretty flimsy and I don't expect them to last. I wouldn't recommend.

maybe check this book out? Its got a lot of stuff at the beginning to help you answer the initial questions and get a better feel for the interview process. Helped me a lot.

Yeah, definitely. Here's the link

It's primarily for people new to R and with a focus on marketing analytics so I'm not sure how helpful it'll be to you. I like it a ton though since I have no formal programming training, so unlike other books I've looked into, it doesn't assume I have a background in CS or a high level degree in Statistics/Math.

Sleeping. Been up since 10am est Thursday.

I read most of this book about Amsterdam on my flight yesterday. You'd probably enjoy it.

I just picked up this book and it has some nice insight into the process, along with a ton of good programming problems.

This exact one. I bought it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond because they pricematch to Amazon. So I got it for $270, and it came with a $50 mail-in rebate. So basically it cost me $220, which is insanely cheap for it. The manager of the Bed, Bath, and Beyond was helping the cashier apply the discount, and she said specifically that this was a fantastic deal. I don't think she'd ever seen one sell for that low.

Two really big topics I have started to get very interested in, a lot in part due to reddit actually.

[The Healing of America by T.R Reid] (http://www.amazon.com/The-Healing-America-Global-Cheaper/dp/0143118218)

[Republic Lost by Lawrence Lessig] (http://www.amazon.com/Republic-Lost-Money-Corrupts-Congress/dp/0446576433/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&sr=&qid=)

I have Jeans of the Old West but that may be a bit too far back. Vintage denim book on amazon brings up quite a few that I've never heard of it so I'm not sure of the quality of them: https://www.amazon.com/Vintage-Denim-David-Little/dp/0879056649

and then customers also bought section
