Awesome. I'll be happy so long as I can get at least 720p @30fps. I'm planning on buying this adapter to go with it, so it'd be sweet if the 5Ghz connection helps even more. Thanks for the help!

If you don't mind used, or like new, Swappa, or Ebay. I bought mine off Swappa, but it looks like most only ship inside the US, maybe check back some other time on Swappa. http://swappa.com/buy/nvidia-shield-tablet-wifi

A Wireless 360 controller works perfectly, you just need a wireless receiver that's made for PC, like this one:

And an OTG cable: http://www.amazon.com/eForCity-Micro-USB-OTG-Adapter/dp/B005QX7KYU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410988101&sr=8-1&keywords=otg+cable

I actually use my nVidia Shield more for school work than I do anything else. I use the stylus and Evernote to take notes in my classes. Evernote is wonderful because I have the option to use the handwriting recognition and get nice typed notes without having to type, or I can hit a button on the app and start drawing diagrams or other notes without being converted to text.

I purchased e-books for my textbooks this year so I didn't have to haul books around with me when I go home on the weekends for work purposes or to class. Since I have a desktop, taking it home on the weekends is obnoxious to say the least, so now I'm able to stream my entire desktop to my tablet and work on any computer code I need. The great thing is that a remote stream desktop is very forgiving when it comes to latency. I have a USB 3.0 hub that I use to connect a mouse and keyboard to my tablet with.

When I'm not doing school work I will use the Shield as a second screen with my monitor. I can be watching movies or other videos online while I use the tablet to surf the internet or check facebook.

I don't get this whole thread.

Plug in, switch to console mode. The Shield Hub is optimized for TV, and you can use it as a launcher instead of the stock homescreen.

Need an Ethernet port (for whatever reason; the Portable's WiFi connection is more than enough for me to stream hi-def Netflix and download app updates in the background)? OTG Ethernet adapter.

Want a TV-friendly controller? How about the fully-compatible FireTV remote?

Want ChromeCast support? CheapCast works great on the Portable. (That may break once the Portable gets L.)

OP confuses me. Everything he wants already exists and works on the "set-top" version of the Shield (the Portable in console mode with the lid closed).

I picked up this one (http://www.amazon.com/RT-AC66U-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC1750-Gigabit-Router/dp/B008ABOJKS) a few months ago. It is also supported by DD-WRT and pretty much all other custom firmwares as well.

My friend gave me this keyboard and have been using it since the HP touchpad. I also bought the mouse on clearance and it's a nice combo.

Yeah any HDMI TV. I know alot of people like the mini HDMI to HDMI cable but I like the mini HDMI to HDMI adapter so that I can use any regular HDMI cable with it.

Does your AIO have an output port? like hdmi out? I have a computer that i do not plug into a monitor that I use for my gamestream. They have these hdmi dongles you can plug into the port, and it thinks there is a monitor on the other side even though there is not. HERE

Been using this one for a while now and couldn't be happier with it. Its one of the few out there that doesn't lie about the capacity rating. This video shows this power bank vs another popular option. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxNLTRl36HQ

Edit: Use the middle port. They are rated at 1amp, 2amp, and 2.4 amp. The tablet is rated at 2.1amp max!

I used this as a tablet cover back when I ran gentoo on mine, it works great, and is super cheap.

It can run Wii games at half speed, so running SNES/NES/etc is a non-issue.

The screen sucks for reading, but I also use an ereader, so I am slightly biased in that regard.

Steam does not work on this tablet, but half life and portal were ported to android to work with it. You need a controller to play them though

I have never had WiFi issues with mine, but from what I have read it is very hit and miss for some people.

Been using this case for a few days now.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009VR4OSM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
works well, and completely zips up. It is a rather snug fit vertically, but gets the job done.

Picked up a set of these locally...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GOOSV70/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1420159201&sr=8-2&dpPl=1&dpID=51h2GGsfpEL&ref=plSrch&pi=AC_SX200_QL40

Unfortunately now the lid doesn't close all the way. I may pursue ebay for parts at some point, but they fetch a premium. I also my try the caps you linked as well.

This is what I am running at home, and it works flawlessly. I own both the portable and the Shield, and use both with this router without issue.

I am also running a wireless PCE-AC68 card from my PC, instead of wired, but again have zero issues.

While I do agree that charging takes quite a while my K1 tablet that I got around christmas charges just fine when playing games. I've found that it will typically charge much slower and with some games it might slightly lose charge for a short duration. I have my tablet on marshmallow.

Perhaps it's your charger? I'm using one from the HP touchpad, here.

I didn't know they where going that high. I'm about to sell mine since I don't use it anymore.

You can get it from Amazon but it's back ordered right now.

u/atlgeek007 · 1 pointr/theNvidiaShield

https://www.amazon.com/Smays-Ethernet-compatible-Raspbian-Raspberry/dp/B00L32UUJK may work for you, I don't know if the version of android on the K1 has drivers for it.

Keep in mind that it's only 10/100, not gigabit, so wifi may technically be faster.

OTG Cable/ Mico USB
Male to Male USB

You would connect OTG Cable to Shield, then Use the male to male USB to go from the OTG Cable to the input USB of your Speaker system. You might have to fiddle with Android USB Connections t oget it to be recognized properly: MTP, PTP, and USB Mass Storage

I have this and it works absolute wonders with DD-WRT installed on it:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002YLAUU8/

Note: I do not know how the wireless is on it as I have a completely separate device for being a Wireless Access Point. I am only commenting on its speed and routing capabilities.
