Nope, most people use a grinder for everything. Pipes, joints, bongs whatever.
When you go to pack your pipe, you have to take your nugs and essentially grind them up by hand. You break the nug up into small enough pieces to pack your pipe. That's essentially what a grinder does for you, just breaks your nugs up so you can pack a bowl.

If you are looking to get kief you need a four piece grinder, a two piece doesn't have the kief catcher so won't help you. I recommend Space Case grinders, they are a little more expensive but they grind amazing and are really high quality, I love mine. If you aren't looking to spend $60+ dollars just search on Amazon or wherever for a 4 piece grinder and you should find some cheap ones for like $10, but they won't be nearly as nice obviously.

I am also a girl, best friend and I both love marijuana. Its the only thing that keeps us grounded and stable. No matter how bad our day gets, we always have something great to look forward to. If she isn't convinced that marijuana is a safe drug then theres no hope for swaying her opinion. It's a true argument on why Marijuana is safe and how it has saved peoples lives.

Anything "RAW" in that case. Without spending too much money I'd suggest a raw rolling tray, raw papers (1 1/4 size is what most people roll with), and some tips! If he has a difficult time rolling his own joints you could always get him a rolling machine. They're pretty cheap.

Not the best for a "star projector", but definitely fun to have, and cool to space out on.

Laster Star Projector This isn't in the picture but I highly recommend it! It's a little expensive but worth every penny. I haven't been able to find a picture that does it justice yet. It's a must-have for any trippy room.

+1 to just ISO (99% OR 91% Isopropyl alcohol) and salt. Though I learned the hard way that if you're cleaning a grinder just use ISO. The salt makes it more difficult to reclaim the goods.

This process will take a couple/few hours but just let it sit in a bag, shake it around every so often, and of course one bag per item if it's glass. You don't want to lose a piece in the cleaning. Overnight is great too if you want. I strongly recommend pipe cleaners with hard bristles too.

I have lots of studies and resources on my drive but really no way of uploading them, however when I was doing a term research paper last semester I bought this book http://www.amazon.com/Pot-Book-Complete-Guide-Cannabis/dp/1594773688 and it basically saved my ass. It is the most complete book on the cannabis plant and the culture that I know of. The woman who compiled it is awesome, all the citations are already done for you in the back of the book. Your research is basically done if you get this. Plus it's really fun to read.

I'm sure there are some other good books out there, but I just finished this one and it makes some very good comparisons about the dangers of alcohol vs marijuana. For those who don't know a whole lot about the subject, i think it would be a good place to start.

When it comes to torches, your best bet is to invest a little more and get the GT 8000. It's built to last for years, so chances are you're never going to need to buy another torch.

But as far as your dabs go, I don't think that the torch would cause that issue. Like the others said, maybe let it get seasoned a little bit.

It's all personal taste, there are some torches that require you to hold the "trigger" down to keep it lit and there are some that only require you press the ignition once.

I prefer the torches that require you press it once, when it comes to torches you absolutely get what you pay for.

You might also want to take into consideration a torch that has "child safety" features, they can be a real pain if you are consistently dabbing and don't have children or somehow have a system that guarantees child safety.

This is the torch I use, simple design, large flame, heats up my rig way quicker than any other torches I've used.

I'm not sure if you could caramelize sugar with this torch as the flame is massive. But if you plan on dabbing a lot and can keep it away from children I highly recommend it.

Hemp wick attachment for a bic. So I light the wick with a lighter, and then then bowl with the wick. Also hemp wick is absolutely a million times better than butane. I thought I wouldn't like it the first time I tried hemp wick, but I've never gone back to just using a lighter.

I believe they're called glass filters. They look like 4-5 tiny little glass beads joined together in a floral formation. They're designed to be used with the snap bong bowls that are practically tubes where your weed will just fall through. My thought is that if you put one in a regular bowl, it will just take up some space and work like normal.

Also, they're cheap as hell. I'll see if I can find some online.

I have and love this one, but I don't use the kief scraper since it broke, I use a guitar pick instead, kief scrapers aren't really necessary, you can try a small piece of cardboard from a pack of gum like Extra, or even make one with tin foil since you aren't smoking it

Starfish Gandalf - Was dropped at some point shattering the oversized bowl.

Sharpstone - Stolen by his Convicted felon brother in law.

Space case - Apparently he just wasn't careful with it, the threads have been caked with kief and forcibly twisted so the threads stripped/it won't close more than 1/6th a way down the threads. Blazer GT8000 BIG SHOT - This one is pretty nonsensical but it's what I was told. So they were installing some carpetting and for some reason got it covered in tar removing it? Then completely fucked it in tar installing speaker boxes into the walls outside their house. They literally cut holes in the Stucco, built a "box" out of 2x4's and covered them in roofing tar.

Volcano - Was just missing, supposedly he still has it but couldn't find it.

Other missing equipment I didn't mention: 2 Highly educated Ti Dabbers, the Slide from the 50x5 Stemline was broke and some silly ancillary stuff that really don't matter.

The worst part is just that I don't really have the money to replace it all, it was a collection I very deliberately sourced to all be high quality shit over 10 years because I know I would care for it right.
