Thanks for the response. Honestly, the only reason I pulled the trigger on buying these items is because I recently lost the breakaway cable that connects my wired 360 controller to the PC and since I've had it for so many years, figured it was time to try the newer [xbox one] controller.

Very good point actually... I have NO intention on ever buying xbox one (if anything, PS4) so I really wouldn't be utilizing the hardware at all, however, I did buy Steam Link for living room gaming so that is really my only rationale here... On that note, I could go the PS4 route so I'd have a 2nd controller if I ever got the console, but I don't really like their controller design.

Awesome! I might just return the items and do this. P.S. - I already have breakaway cable replacement on the way so worst case, I'll be right back to using good ole trusty wired 360 controller... Thanks again for replying, it helped me organize my thoughts :)

Which end do you have to futz with? The USB end or the lead end?

After about a year, I had to jiggle the USB end to make it work. Turns out the breakaway cable failed. I replaced it with this. Works like a champ now, and I have a spare.
