Here is the only real review I found online,

-----------------------------------------------------------

This is a review for the XF270HU, the IPS version of this product, I think the XG270HU is a wonderful monitor, I loved it, but the IPS version? Well, read on.

This is an expensive monitor and the amount of issues on it makes me sad, sad to think Companies are willing to charge so much for such garbage products.

List of reasons why this monitor makes me sad:

1-) First of all, the Overdrive on this monitor is Broken, the Overdrive function is greyed out when using DisplayPort, its usable on HDMI or DVI but as you may already know, this monitor can only do 1440P 144Hz on DisplayPort so you're pretty much left on the dirt, also the FreeSync function only works on DisplayPort.

2-) With Overdrive disabled and broken you are left out with huge amounts of Horrid Motion Blur thanks to the atrocious Rise and Fell times of this panel making up for choppy and blurry frame transitions, this panel is the same as the one you find in the more expensive XB270HU so you can use TFTCentral's benchmarks on that panel as a precise baseline for this one, that means this panel have 12ms response time when using DisplayPort, 13.2 Choppy Rise Times and 9.4 Horrendous Fall (Fail IMO) Times, this is just hilarious!

3-) Have you ever wondered how this Monitor managed a 40-144Hz FreeSync Range while the more expensive higher Quality Eizo FS2735 couldn't? or why the MG279Q was limited to 35-90Hz? Well, that's because this monitor is forcing a Frame Scaler that doesn't support these FreeSync Ranges, the result? A Blur Fest like no other, one on top of the already Blurry Moving Image thanks to no overdrive, I kid you not I felt like this monitor was streaming its images from Netflix and that every time there was a moving object the resolution would drop to 480p and go back to 1440p as soon as there was a non moving scene, this was the main factor behind me returning this piece of garbage, If I buy a 1440p monitor it should look 1440p at still and moving images.

4-) Like if all of that wasn't enough I did ordered two of these monitors in case one of them was bad and I had to return it given the atrocious Quality Control, I'll upload a picture you can see below of my 2 monitors, Both presented Backlight Bleed and IPS Glow, one of them had a like a Lake Spot in the middle, one big patch of inconsistent brightness, it just makes me cry.

5-) As if that wasn't enough there were several Bugs/Glitches in the OSD, there was one specifically in the Color Temperature setting, this kind of careless programming makes you realize how little Quality Control these monitors have, probably all failed Panels from the XB270HU are Re-Used to make these monitors, they couldn't even bother to make FreeSync and Overdrive to work.

This monitor should be pulled from Amazon right away or force Acer to fix it ASAP, things like FreeSync Blurriness and Ghosting can't be fixed thought, as this is a hardware problem caused by the Scaler and not fixable with a Firmware update.

I can't believe I'm going to do this, but I'll also make a Pro List of things for this product.

1-) Believe it or not, the color reproduction on both of my samples were superb, absolutely stunning, especially if you calibrate the 6 Axis Saturate to 60-57-57-57-58 for Vibrant Colors.

That's where the pros End, even that one good thing this monitor have can be replaced by a TN monitor thought, I got the BenQ XL2730Z after getting this one, you can check my Amazon Review on that Awesome Monitor, that's got to be one of the best TNs monitors on the Market, it was hard to even notice a difference between the XF270HU and the XL2730Z unless you compare in Un-Natural viewing Angles, considering the XL2730Z is a TN that means a lot.

Same MVA panel, same ultrawide 100hz... Same price but we'll call that a measurement error.
But that's while we're keeping it in limits of ultrawides, once we move from those particular shackles we have a classic 144hz IPS example:

$600 MSRP on Freesync vs $800 MSRP on G-Sync. Exactly $200, sales notwithstanding.

> What makes the MX34Q not a gaming monitor?

Lack of 1337 gam1ng aesthetic (see above for reference). I can game just fine on my cheap ass s22e390 and it even has pretty good response times for an IPS panel, it does not become gaming monitor from that however.

u/nikhilbg · 6 pointsr/buildapcsales

Yeah they fail to mention that anywhere in the listing though. Very misleading of them for an amazon listing imo. Only if you click on the buying choices will you see that it is recertified: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0173PEX34/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

Even then it has been placed in "New" category, but im not sure if thats how Amazon does it

u/Lameleo · 5 pointsr/Amd

If you care about IPS Acer has this. I believe freesync also goes up to 144Hz, the Asus one is 90. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XF270HU-27-inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B0173PEX34

I really want it however it cannot be found in Australia.

u/HydraulicTater · 4 pointsr/Amd

imho buying a non-freesync/non-Gsync monitor nowadays means you are really missing out. 2k IPS adaptive refresh is a good place to be right now I think, since next years GPUs should destroy games at 2k. This monitor looks good.

http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XF270HU-27-inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B0173PEX34

the official reviews are not out yet but the G-sync version got great reviews, and it should be the exact same panel. Just my two cents.

Edit: Also don't forget that with freesync you don't get LFC unless the panels max refresh rate is 2.5x the min refresh rate. so 4k panel that can refresh from 30-60hz WILL be choppy and tear under 30 FPS

u/realmain · 4 pointsr/buildapcsales

The Pixio PX277 regular price without sale is $389.99 new. They sell refurbished ones often for $319.99. The bezels are huge though.

Alternatively you can get a refurbished ASUS MG279Q for $419.99 on NewEgg. But Walmart and other websites often have it for like $400, less if you are lucky.

Too bad the Acer XF270HU were discontinued. The refurbished ones were at a great price.

Also, I've used a 1ms TN panel vs a 5ms IPS panel in competitive play before. I feel no difference in input lag at all. The difference is way too small. Though most IPS panels these days are 4ms.

So I'd get an IPS panel for the same refresh rates, same adaptive panel, with better colors, contrast and viewing angle. Also, I run 3 monitors so... TN panels are out of the question, the angles do not work out for me. I don't always look at my monitor directly.

u/Coroner117 · 4 pointsr/Amd

You didn't mention the refresh rate you're targeting, but have you checked out the Acer XF270HU? It's a 27" 1440p IPS FreeSync panel with a FreeSync range of 40-144Hz through DP at a reasonable price (549 USD on Amazon).

I heard it had some issues with Overdrive, but I didn't do enough research to discuss any of that.

u/noremac258 · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

That asus monitor has a very limited freesync range of 35-90.

Look into the Acer xf270hu instead. The acer supports 23-144hz which is much better.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0173PEX34/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1450163284&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=Acer+xf270hu&dpPl=1&dpID=51yClBaookL&ref=plSrch

It also seems to be cheaper as well, at least on Amazon.

u/capn_hector · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Stretch your budget up to $400 wait for a good deal on an Acer XF270HU, possibly refurbished (keep an eye on Amazon Warehouse, and AcerRecertified's webstore and ebay store). Camelcamelcamel says that it's only hit $400 once on Amazon though (you can set a price alert there).

It's better to spend $400 on something you'll be satisfied with for years and years than to spend $300 on something that doesn't check all the boxes on your wishlist (which - you won't at $300). If you want IPS, 1440p, and fast response times there are very few monitors that can deliver all of that. You want a gaming IPS monitor, there are only a handful, and they're not cheap.

And I strongly encourage you to get FreeSync here (and get a model with LFC support). If that means putting off a GPU upgrade for a while than so be it - that extra $100 will more than pay for itself over the next couple years in other hardware that doesn't have to be upgraded. It's seriously a game-changer, 45 fps is perfectly silky smooth even in FPSs and other "fast" games. Or get GSync if you have an NVIDIA GPU.

If you are saying Amazon because you have gift certificates - you can sell Amazon gift certs for basically 1:1 to cash FYI. Everyone wants to buy stuff from Amazon so they go for like 90%+ of face value. Just a thought, Amazon doesn't always have the best prices.

If you are really firm on only ordering from Amazon and you don't want to wait for a price drop - maybe look at the Pixio PX277. It's a Korean monitor, they're a little cheaper than the XF270HU but still a bit more expensive than your budget ($390). But it still checks all the boxes for you - 1440p, IPS, Freesync, 27".

There's a couple similar alternatives from other brands that might be a bit cheaper - but I don't know if they're sold on Amazon or not. Here's a PcPartPicker search that will let you set a price alert but right now there's only the XF270HU and the Asus equivalent.

If you want something more aligned with content creation I can highly recommend anything Dell. Their computers are kinda meh but their monitors are the shit. I have a P2715Q and it's great for graphical work. Again, know that's beyond your budget but anything IPS from them should be great. But they don't make FreeSync IPS panels.

u/Fimconte · 3 pointsr/Monitors

Don't get me wrong. ASUS can make great parts.
But if something goes wrong with those parts,
you'll need a lot of luck to get meaningful help from ASUS.

Hence, why I recommend Acer/Benq/Gigabyte/Sapphire/MSI alternatives to Asus options.

If we go on specs, the MG279Q is a great monitor.
But so is the alternative from Acer, the XF270HU.

And given the choice between the two, I'd go for Acer.

On GPUs, with a 780 that's even more reason to go with the BenQ.
1080p vs 1440p doesn't sound like a huge difference,
but the actual pixel count is ~2.1mil vs 3.7mil or ~1.77x as much.
With a 1440p screen,
a 980 ti/Fury or a multi-gpu solution (2x 290 or 2x 390) is highly recommended to power such a pixel monster.

Stable framerate at 1080p > Fluctuating framerate at 1440p.

u/capriol5 · 3 pointsr/Monitors

Hah yeah I caught that sale on buildapcsales but didn't decide fast enough. I believe http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XF270HU-27-inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B0173PEX34 is the exact same except freesync?

u/Kasarii · 3 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

Acer XF270HU 144hz freesync monitor, Ips and TN versions.

There are even more than a few examples on this list as well:

http://www.144hzmonitors.com/list-of-freesync-monitors/

Sorry but they do, stop with the negative fanboy comments, either come with facts or keep your mouth shut and stop spreading misinformation.

I'd love to have 100hz with a 1080 pushing my frame rates on a 34" Gsync ultrawide but I don't have the extra money to spend on those components. Just becuase my budget is limited doesn't make me an AMD fanboy for choosing the lesser price and still getting decent frames with adaptive sync.

Price that I've spent on a r9 390 from last year + LG 34uc88 = $1100

Price of a gtx 1080 + Acer x34 = $2000

Not a lot of people won't even consider savings of $900 for decent* performance.

u/timboslice420 · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

It is. this is the model

This version has thinner bezels than the link above.

u/BlamelessVestalsLot · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I can't comment on the monitor itself but I can comment on what's going on with the reviews.

Amazon is lumping the review of the XG270HU with the XF270HU. Happens all the time when amazon dumps multiple products together. Here are the XF270HU reviews

u/itsZiz · 2 pointsr/buildapc

There are cheaper options like a Qnix (Korean) monitor that is 60hz and you over clock them. Ive had one for a few years but it only goes up to 108hz.. other wise just look on newegg or pcpartpicker. I found this after looking for 30 seconds http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0173PEX34/?tag=pcpapi-20

u/aznsacboi · 2 pointsr/buildapc

What does "bmijdpr" mean at the end of Acer monitors?

I'm looking at this one in specific, there seems to be no info on this.

u/MeRollsta · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

You can always upgrade your next graphic card to Nvidia. And adaptive sync has diminishing returns with higher frame rates. So as long as you can keep it over 100, you won't really be regretting having Adaptive Sync.

EDIT: Okay, i don't know how this slipped past me. But Acer also just released a Freesync version of this for $600. Link here: http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XF270HU-27-inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B0173PEX34/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450382673&sr=8-1&keywords=acer+xf270hu.

It's the same price. So make your choice. If you plan to go Nvidia for your next GPU upgrade though, i would get this instead. Because you get ULMB along with GSync.

u/Ibuildempcs · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

The best, if budget is not a matter is the acer XF270hu, features an IPS panel with a freesync window of 40hz to 144hz.

u/chimarz · 2 pointsr/Amd

if you can afford it honestly get a 1440p ips panel with freesync you can get them refurbed from acer for 430. the difference between ips and tn is huge to me at least its all subjective tbh but i feel that it is a large upgrade. here is the link to the ips version of that acer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0173PEX34/ref=twister_B018FLZ63G?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

u/radwatch · 1 pointr/Monitors

It really depends on what you want and your current setup.

The MG has a higher resolution and an IPS panel, which should provide better color and viewing angles.
It has really good reviews, but quality control is not very good. They even pulled it from stock on amazon. But if you get a good one, you won't be disappointed.

The VG has a TN panel and a lower resolution, so if you rig can't do 1440p at 144hz I would go with this monitor.

If you want another 1440p IPS monitor to consider I just recently purchased this Acer

u/hollow_hippie · 1 pointr/Austin

It's crazy how cheap they can be. Enjoy the new monitor! I got this one with my tax return this year and it's really made all the difference playing the games.

u/Seb_op · 1 pointr/Monitors

The xb271hu is a gsync panel, mine is freesync. I dont want to spend another 200€ for g sync.
This is what im looking at right now:

This is the xf270hu version, basically the same as the hua but with thicker bezzels.

u/ashberic · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I got the [Acer XF270HU] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0173PEX34/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) because I got a great deal on it. It's the freesync version. If you want the Gsync version, you'd want the Acer XF270HUA IIRC. Not 100% on the gsync model number.

u/Viridez · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I have Acer XF270HU (27in 1440p 144hz Freesync) for sale $300 local (I'm in GR as well)

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-resolution-Backlight-Technology-Flicker-Free/dp/B0173PEX34

Great shape, like new. I have the original box, accessories, cords, cables and stand. I can also toss in a free VESA mounting bracket no charge

u/HerrDrFaust · 1 pointr/Monitors

Hey there ! Thanks for your opinion :) The Dell looks like a really solid choice, however I'm hesitating with the Acer XF270HU which shows similar specs (same resolution, same Hz, etc) but with an IPS instead of TN display (which, from what i've read on this subreddit, is far, far superior and should be an automatic choice if possible) and Freesync instead of G-Sync. So, from my understanding, the only negative difference is that you don't have G-Sync (but from what i've read GSync isn't that useful, ESPECIALLY at 200€+, and especially compared to Freesync.)

What do you think ?

u/The_Cynical_Gamer · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

For a first time builder, I always recommend an air cooler instead of water cooling. It's usually cheaper and less prone to accidental damage. They also will last forever pretty much. Don't let longevity deter you if you want water cooling, Corsair, Thermaltake, and NZXT make really good All-In-One units, but will run a premium over air cooling.

EDIT: Here is a great 1440p monitor with 144hz refresh rate. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0173PEX34/?tag=pcpapi-20

u/BlaskosRedditAccount · 1 pointr/buildapc

I think you're thinking of the Acer xf270gu, it's pretty much identical to the xb270hu except it has matte bezels that are also thinner than the xb270hu, and has free sync instead of g sync. You can only buy them on amazon though.

u/Jacob_Vaults · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Oh yeah, the one he suggested is really nice. I suggest you do your own research as well, however.

I personally suggest the ASUS VG248QE, it's a great monitor. It might only be 1080p, but it's not super-duper expensive and has a 144Hz display.

If you want both 1440p and 144Hz, my best suggestion is this Acer monitor, but at that price point, I'd much rather see you upgrade your GPU to something like a 980ti.

Really though, what's your budget, and why aren't you just going for a GPU upgrade instead?

You can snag a PG279Q (165hz, IPS, G-Sync) for $440 on Amazon Warehouse Deals if you set up an alert at an actually decent alert extension or write a short script that refreshes the page and alerts you if the price drops down.

OTHERWISE, the XF270HU is Freesync, IPS for about only $140 more, which is a damn good deal.

Don't think you'll be able to find a 1440 144hz monitor for under $400. Cheapest one I could find is this one and it's on a pretty massive sale for whatever reason. I got a Dell S2716DG for a bit over $500 that I'm happy with.

IPS does not smear the image.

I play almost exclusively FPS and I have no problems at all with "smearing."

Having I high refresh rate along with a low response time virtually removes any display lag.

I have an AN-IPS display, I have a refresh rate up to 75hz, and I have a response time of 4. No issues at all. It is night and day from my old TN panel, and I could never go back.\

Oh here is a 144hz IPS

and here is another

Well unfortunately for 1440p 144hz IPS freesync they do not make monitors smaller than 27".

This is a very good model but as I said it is 27" widescreen.

Unfortunately the monitor you want doesn't exist.

It is cheaper than the Asus but I also think the Asus comes more highly reviewed from what I have seen.

Hey, I have the exact same card and also planning to upgrade from my regular old 1080p 60hz BenQs. I have done quite a lot of research and have come to the conclusion, that starting from around 350$ adaptive sync is essentially a must-have if planning on any kind of gaming and futureproofing. As far as I know there are no additions needed to use FreeSync other than plug it in and turn it on from the monitor settings besides connecting your monitor via DisplayPort (or DVI aswell?).

In my opinion the best price to performance value monitor is the last one you mentioned, after weeks of searching I have not found anything close to these specs and that pricepoint. The only caveat with that particular model seems to be that the stand does not have a height adjustment or the VESA mounting points. Also the panel is a TN, rather than an IPS, so if the latter is preferred, add another ~100$ to the monitor's price and get either this:

or this:

One other possibility for TN screens is the BenQ XL2730Z, which is ~80$ more, but has a sturdy stand, height adjustment and VESA mounting points:

If you're adamant about the 300$ range, you will probably have to choose 2 of 3 from FreeSync/144Hz/1440p. I have seen people recommending this:

https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-XG2401-DisplayPort-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B01A0ZRR50/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468907327&sr=8-1&keywords=XG2401

or the LG you mentioned:

https://www.amazon.com/LG-29UM68-P-29-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B01B9IDLAW/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1468881176&sr=1-2&keywords=ultrawide+lg+29

Also when updating I am planning on still using my 24" 1080p one and possibly my 22" beside it aswell. The upgrade to 1440p should be quite noticeable aswell, particularly if going for a 144hz FreeSync model. The PPI will stay roughly the same, but there is more screen real estate.

If anyone has any information about any upcoming 1440p 144Hz FreeSync monitors or if I missed a particularly good one, then let me know aswell, thanks.

What is the difference in the XG & XF models listed on amazon here?:

One says, AMD Freesync, the other says Freesync (which is also AMD right?). If I want a "budget" 1440p 144hz monitor, why wouldn't I buy the $419 one over the $549 one?

OR, if I want a budget 1440p 144hz budget 27in, what would you steer me to?

Can anyone tell me the difference between AMD Freesync and just Freesync as listed here: http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XF270HU-27-inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B0173PEX34

I also cant figure out if the either are IPS

Thinking about buying an Asus mg279q or an Acer xf270hu for a new rig that will probably have an RX 480.

They're (about) the same price. Leaning towards the Asus because it has a little better aesthetic to it, and it seems a better reputation. But I'm a concerned that its freesync range is limited to 30-90hz. I know an RX 480 probably won't get 90+ on AAA titles, but I'd presumably keep this monitor around for awhile, and use it with older titles on which a 480 could get 90+. Is freesync less beneficial above 90 fps?

My concerns with the Acer (besides aesthitics) is that I can't find any info on whether it's VESA compatible, and the fact that it only has 1 display port input (I'll probably hook up a laptop and gaming desktop).

You're not overclocking, get a H170 mobo and get rid of that CPU Cooler. 6500 cpu comes with a cooler.

You don't need 16GB of RAM unless you will have 1000000 chrome tabs open. Get 8 now and if you still need 16 just get another 8 in the future as ram will only get cheaper (unless a 2nd GFC comes around).
