The 500 Lumen LED(CREE XM-L2) is two times brighter than most other reasonably priced handgun lights and is powered by a CR2 battery (Included)2 Modes: Regular High and Strobe Mode(disorients any possible attacker)Has a Quick Release/Attach Mount to make assembling fast and easy in just seconds, without any tools.Rugged and durable with a lightweight aluminum alloy body that is also weather-proof.Multi-purpose design and quick mounting system make this product easy to also carry for personal, recreational, or work use.
Yeah it's all metal so no plastic to break from recoil. Goes on and off very easily. Good bright light for a great price. His light looks like this one.

I picked this one up last week. I was surprised with how good it was. Didn't expect much for $30 but it did exceed my expectations. The On/Off switch does feel kind of cheap but it's really not bad.

Ive been doing some testing on this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008H9FLE6/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 light for the last 3 months. It's held up through over 2000 rounds of 9mm out of my m&p9c. Its still still very tight and very bright.
I used it for carry for 1 of the 3 months, but the bulk in my pants (insert joke here) was uncomfortable, so I removed it.
It will service fine as a nightstand light IMHO.

If it's a serious carry gun, I recommend the TLR1 (G19), or TLR3 (m&p9c). I use those when I go OWB.
This doesn't seem bad for $37 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008H9FLE6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
