my husband takes his coffee to work in a big stainless thermos and even though it gets washed every night, it still can get gross. I currently use this cup/teapot cleaner but in the past I've used denture tablets from the dollar store, let it soak, then put a couple tablespoons of dry rice in it and shake until it scrubs all the grossness out
