Because those "European alternatives" around here are usually more expensive and there is less choice.

Let's say I want to buy a new GPU: a GTX 1070. I would prefer a Gaming X since I heard they're really quiet.

Alright, let's go. This is a rather known store that sells computer components. They have two listings for a GTX 1070: 609€ out of stock and 649€ in stock. They don't have the one I want.

Okay, let's be smarter. Let's use an aggregator called hv.ee. They have far more cards of different varieties and at more reasonable prices. The trouble is that only one of those has stock. Out of the entire bunch there is only one with stock. It is priced at 649€, the one we looked at in the first store.

Meanwhile amazon.de has that exact same GPU at 482€. The specific GPU I wanted is also available for 541€.

Now this is with just Amazon. They have a bunch of other similar stores (Newegg for instance) in the US that the EU just does not have.

>from pizza to a tv and have it delivered between 20 minutes and 24h at my door

Yeah, I don't live in a big EU country, so it's different here and will likely always be because of regulations.

I'd really suggest moving to the Strix line from Asus. It's a bit more, but worth it in my opinion for a higher end card.

Here is a link for the UK Amazon site:

I'm new to pc building and I want to build an SLI rig. I'm just unsure of one thing.
I've ordered two Asus ROG 1070 cards but I only noticed after I ordered the names are slightly different.

One says Asus ROG 1070

ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card - Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01HMDRY7E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_9CIIzb3J74HCK

And the other says Asus ROG1070 08G

ASUS STRIX-GTX1070-O8G-Gaming Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 Graphics Card - Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01GRCYTMY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_nEIIzbPGV83TK

I just want to know are these cards different? Is there a difference performance wish?
And will the work together in SLI?

I am pretty sure any european Amazon shop ships everywhere in the EU for free. This is a pretty high end 1080 model and is just 50€ more than the 1070 you chose. Or this 1070 is 60€ less, but it's not available right now.

I think 1070 may be the way to go but picking one is difficult, I use a singular 1440p ultra-wide screen monitor, is their really much difference between e.g. ASUS STRIX-GTX1070-O8G and MSI GeForce GTX 1070 AERO 8G 1920 Cuda Core PCIE 3.0 8 GB GDDR5 256-Bit?

I'd not considered upgrading my SSD, that would be a nice upgrade to store just games on, any suggestions? I read somewhere on here yesterday that there are equal performance-wise options other than a Samsung Evo.

> But starting day one, for the 1080 they decided to mostly price their card cheaper than FE

That's not true. Almost all AIB's were more expensive than the FE on day 0, then it fluctuated, now we're seeing them more evenly priced. Hell, the Gigabyte Gaming G1 is still priced at 799 in some stores (10 Euro over FE), even though it's a 759-769 card, just as an example.

>
if you know a good german retailer that is delivering in france, i m all ears ^

Most in my original post ship to France, I'm pretty sure.

https://geizhals.eu/?cat=gra16_512&asd=on&asuch=gtx%201070 for the 1070.

But yeah, don't buy an overpriced card.

> why would they do that for the 1070 and not the 1080 ?

Well as I said they sort of did, another thing to consider, there is less wiggle room in base price to FE for the 1070, versus the 1080. We see a 130 Euro range between the lowest 1080 and the FE, nearly all AIB's being spread between that, whereas currently we only have a 40 Euro range from the lowest 1070 and the FE.

It'll adjust itself soon, I'd hope.

Then again, official Amazon.de has the 1070 Strix listed at 529 too, maybe Asus are just being twats.

Are there any big differences between the different GTX 1070 cards?
Thinking of buying one of these:
Asus,
MSI or
EVGA

Thanks, sounds like a good advice. I decided to go with this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-STRIX-GTX1070-O8G-Gaming-Nvidia-Geforce-Graphics/dp/B01GRCYTMY/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1485091197&sr=1-1&keywords=gtx+1070#Ask but if anyone has any comments on it or a better choice let me know.

Really?
All of these are 1070, the last one is an FE:
