Nice score! They are crying out for some TLC though...

I'd suggest you give them a deep clean, replace the ear pads (€23 on Amazon) and just listen to some tunes (the Soundblaster Z should be more than sufficient to power them). If you don't like the sound, you could always sell them on. New they go for around €120 on Amazon and secondhand examples fetch around €50 (at least they do in the Netherlands).

I’d recommend whichever you decide look for better earpads from Brainwavz Audio Earpads or AKG replacement pads

yeah, if you’re absolutely sure you can’t wash and clean the old pads you’re better off just getting genuine replacements from beyerdynamic. https://www.amazon.com/beyerdynamic-EDT-velour-silver-grey/dp/B001BYL5YE/

Buy links for the M220 and the earpads (these are kinda expensive in the US wtf, in Germany they cost 20 bucks. I'd say it's still worth it.) Make sure you buy the original beyerdynamics earpads and not some fakes.

I also love how the amazon reviews of the M220 basically just reinstate what I said about the M220 lol, especially the review of Eric K.

Those are the pads I have, at $34, for $16 unless you hate yourself, you'd be making a mistake not to get the ZMFs.

Actually now I'm considering buying a used 880 pro, would these ear pads work with them as they say 880 premium but not pro

If you are that concerned might want to pony up for this. Let me know though I can take a look when I get back to my place tonight since I definitely won't have a use for them.

i got these and they barelly fit, but they are a millon times more confortable than the garbage earpads the g933 comes with:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001BYL5YE/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

these are for beyer dynamic. the velvet material is very soft, i can wear my headset for many hours without disconfort now.

these are the ones most people get:

about same price as the beyer's but the materials used are cheaper than the beyers

AKG K240s relatively cheap for the over the ear catagory. Great mid/highs which is awesome for voice to compensate for the weaker bass. Awesome for podcasting. The only thing about them is the pleather ear cups can get uncomfortable/hot after extended use so I suggest getting these velour pads and replacing the leather ones with them. It can be a little bit of a tight fit, but once they're on, use a hair drier on hot to shrink it securely around the lip.

if you use a headphone stand (not the omega type, they just increase pad compression!) or hang the 990s up by a hook, ratchet the headband extenders up to minimum length when you store your 990, and straighten out the ear cups so that they are parallel to each other after each listening session you will cut down on pad compression, and so they won't get flat so soon.

But you are right, its an intrinsic flaw in almost all beyer designs - their pads are squishy and comfortable but have a short lifespan. Once they get flat your best bet is to swap them out with [replacement pads] (http://www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-EDT990V-Headphone-Pads-Silver/dp/B001BYL5YE) because the sound quality suffers, it's a 2 minute mod without the need for any specialized tools.
