I've only used laser printed water slides, and they mostly work well. After I immerse them in water, they take 1-2 minutes before they get slidey enough to come entirely off the backing.

Hey so I know this is like a month later, but I just bought Hollow Ichigo pop, got rid of his red eyes with acetone and I'm going to use [these waterslide decals](Blinggasm Waterslide Decal Paper 10 Sheets Pack, Clear or White, Inkjet or Laser Printer Choose From Menu (CLEAR FOR LASER PRINTER) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZLVF698/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_8iPLyb809F60Q) from Amazon and print on them some basic yellow circles for eyes. It comes in the mail Tuesday, so I'll post back my final result and if it turns out okay, you could do the same for your pop. I'm just going to make the eyes in Photoshop and print them off. I bought the decal sheets for laser printers as laser is better than inkjet for decals (so I've read).
If you suck at art.. you could get some of This and print out basically anything you want on it, trim it down around the edges, slide it on, and spray some clear lacquer to adhere.
If it's a dark colored guitar, you may need to get the "white" version, or the clear may not show up.
You could also decoupage it with cutouts of other stuff you like?
If you don't suck at art, or know someone who doesnt, just paint something cool on it.
alternately, check google image search for "decorated guitar" or "decorative guitar" and see if anything strikes your fancy.
