You can get a pair of liner shorts that provides you with a chamois, and then you would wear anything over these that you felt comfortable with.

Just be sure that whatever you choose as the outer layer will be non-binding. A pair of athletic shorts would be a good choice.

Yeah, I'm wearing some of these on my recent training rides. Not top of the line, but they do significantly delay the discomfort. There's nothing between my skin and these shorts, but I do wear regular shorts over them.
