A lot of people will say it’s fine but that’s because they have never experienced a failure due to sag. I have- I had one of those triple fan gigabyte 7970s fail on me due to sag. It would not post unless I held it up so the solder joints must have weakened and failed over time. I always support my GPUs now.

I put this one up yesterday. Card is now straight does its job. Is metal so don't have to worry about heat.

I purchased this one and it's working good so far. I have the Zotac 1080ti which I believe is one of the bulkiest and heaviest cards there is and it's holding up well. The little white rubber "half circle" things that actually make contact with the GPU are kind of annoying but other than that for the price it's great and low profile. That would be a solution. GPU sag is common, especially on heavier cards. It's not a major issue as most of the stress is being put on the case, not the card or the board. People use all sorts of things to prop the GPU up, Lego figures, Funko Pops, legitimate GPU braces, etc. Pretty much anything that won't melt (which is most plastics)

JayzTwoCents did a video on how to fix GPU sag with two small screws.

You might want a bracket if you're having sag already. I got this bracket off amazon that's helped my 1080 stay level. I feel like it blends in pretty well.

If you want to go the cheap yet effective route, this CloverTrade Support is a solid choice. If you want something with a bit more design, especially with your glass side-panel there is V1Tech. Both are solid choices, just depends on the look you want.

If that's the case, you may want to consider investing in a GPU brace like this one to make sure that the weight of the GPU doesn't damage the slot or make it slip out. If the GPU slips out while the PC is on, you could cause a short and fry the whole build.

Yeah, its somwhat normal these days, but if you want to be on the safe side, you may want to invest a few bucks in a gpu support bracket.

Even with the much thinner heatsink on my 1080 Strix card, it was sagging after a few months. It happens little by little so you won't notice it at first, and the PCB and backplate can get a slight bend over time from the weight.


You can get a cheap GPU brace on Amazon for like $10-20. There's 2 styles, one is a more discreet bracket arm and the other is a sturdier kickstand kinda thing. I went for the discreet one personally because I didn't want it to show much. There's different brands with different looks btw, those are just an example of each style. Also some people get creative and use Lego figures and stuff as a stand.

This or this would help way more than reinforced PCIe slots

Probably unnecessary for my current card (a Gigabyte 1070) but I plan to re-use it when I install the new one, whichever card I end up going with. I used to only get EVGA cards but I heard bad things about their 10 series line; I've only heard good things about the 20 series though.

But it's so ugly in my case that I prefer the sagging. It doesn't look so bad and has zero impact on performance s, I removed the piece of metal and live with the sag.

I have an MSI Duke 1080 OC and it’s similar in size, and sag, to this one. I used this pci slot brace and it worked great:
