I have the Corsair Vengeance 1500 Dolby 7.1 USB Gaming Headset and they are nice. I would definitely recommend them specially at that price. Here is a video review from LinusTechTips.

That's a newer model of the headset I use. If you need to go lower I think the 1300 option is still just as viable, but do not go for the 1100. The mic on the 1100 picks up sound TOO well.

You may also want to consider the Corsair Vengeance 1300. They have larger drivers than the Carcharias for a fuller sound. The reviews have also been very solid.

I was in a similar situation with a pair of Turtle Beaches. I have the newest replacement unopened on top of a stack of boxes right now.

While I was waiting to RMA the old headset, I ordered a Corsair Vengeance 1500. It's a tad expensive, but worth every penny. It's more comfortable than my Turtle Beaches, and the sound quality is great.

My only gripe with it is that the only volume control it has is through Windows, which can make it kind of annoying to get levels right.

Overall, though, I'd say to check out Corsair's products, if the Vengeance is out of your price range.

I'm using the Corsair Vengeance 1500 right now. VERY GOOD sound when you download drivers. Sturdy and has a 2 year warranty.

Some cons about it:

  1. Kinda tight on head, but I got used to it/stretched it out

  2. The inline volume and microphone controller gets really warm and doesn't turn off when your computer is off.

I got a Corsair Vengeance 1500 for myself with some Christmas bonus cash. I love it. The sound is crisp and clear, and the headset itself is incredibly comfortable.

A couple of caveats, though:

  • The bass seems kind of weak to me. I don't notice it after a few minutes of playing, but after listening to my speakers and their wall-shaking bass, the headset sounds tinny in comparison (and this is after tweaking the equalizer a bit).
  • I've had driver issues with it. I've spent some time on the official Corsair forums looking for a solution, and there are quite a few other people having issues with drivers as well (although not the same problem I have).
  • I get some weird static in the microphone recordings, but only through Steam. Everything else is crystal clear.

Any of these three headsets are great choices imo

Razer headsets are horrible. Almost as bad as Creative headsets in my opinion. Go for a Corsair or the new Plantronics Gamecom's. Hell, even Mad Catz makes a better headset than Razer IMHO.

Don't get me wrong, I like Razer products. I just don't like their headsets.

They aren't that big, and the sound/mic quality is awesome. Only thing is the fabric around the ears get kinds funky.

How does it look to you. Do you think you will be comfortable with the mouse, keyboard and headset?

I don't know. This is the headset I use. For 0.28$ though, its not really any loss if its shit though.

I'm a big fan of the Corsair Vengeance 1500 (a tad over $80 at Amazon right now)

u/Hooblar · 0 pointsr/audiophile

Corsair has put out a great headset. I've gone through a number of Creative headsets, played around with namebrands from TurtleBeach to Tritton - and this has by far been the best bang for my buck.

u/mahl_binx · 0 pointsr/buildapc

I'm really happy with my Corsair Vengeance headset. I got it for $90 and it has since dropped to about $80, which I believe is ~£62. They are very comfortable. The bass is not overwhelming like most midrange headsets, which I really liked.
