RAM: Crucial for $33 or Crucial Ballistix Sport for 39$

What's the difference?

EDIT: I'm planning on using the RAM for Gaming specifically, as I'm guessing that the 'sport' RAM is more tailored to that, but I'm wondering about actual differences

Get 2x 8gb sticks from crucial. They should be ~$25 bucks a pop and you'll thank yourself later for going to 16gb. Crucial also has a really extensive tool on their website to make sure the sticks you buy from them are compatible with your machine

Definitely a hardware issue. I would buy a single stick of RAM (or borrow it from a friend), to see if it's the RAM or the motherboard. If the new stick still fails; then it's a bad motherboard slot. Here's an exact replacement for the same type of RAM that Memtest reported:

Is this ram compatible with my current ram?

They're both 8gb 1600mHz. My problem is that the new one only says DIMM while mine says UDIMM.

I'm hearing that buffered is incompatible with unbuffered. I'm also hearing that the "U" in DIMM is already implied so they'd be the same anyways. This two pack of the new ram says "unbuffered DIMM" which I think means it'd work with my current one. I just want to make sure they work together.

I wanted to get more RAM for my system, and went to look at the RAM I bought when I got it 2 years ago, it costed 29,86 Euro.

Right now, the exact same stick of RAM is 73,34 Euro... more than doubled.

I looked for other 8 GB modules for lower prices, but it seems that the prices are more or less the same as that.

This is the absolute cheapest build that can run games at decent settings at 900p/1080p.I wouldn't recommend going any lower than these specs.

Processor : i3 4160 / i3 4150

Motherboard : (Any lga 1150 mobo will do) [Asus h81m cs]

Graphics Card : RX 460 or GTX 1050 (I wouldn't recommend 750 Ti or even anything lower than these two.)

I have 2x8GB DDR3 RAM sticks at 1600MT/s, this one right here:

If got the mobo you linked. Will it be fine?

And yes, I am quite happy with that, thank you :)

Thanks. So this? As far as I can tell it's compatible.

u/Anon10W1z · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Do NOT buy that RAM. That's a ripoff.
