I routed my cable behind my desk and up behind my monitor and plugged a 1/4" coupler to it. When I play, I just plug an audio cable into that and I'm good to go. My RealTone cable never has to move.

I thought you go out and try different ones until you find what you like. Not to buy dozens of amps :)

Since space is limited you can try finding one of those mini heads. And for that you don't need another cab, and you don't need to convert your amp into a head and cab! You can use one of those couplers and just plug it into your speaker as is. Like this one.
